Tucked on a calm bay, in the quiet coastal village of Karavomylos, this plush apartment sits in an exclusive resort. Choose between a dip in the shared pool, or head to the beach a few footsteps away, where the shallow water is perfect for swimming. The coast here is dotted with ethereal cave formations, and for something a little different, make the ten-minute walk to Melissani Lake Cave where the water seems to glow as the sunlight hits it.

Inside the apartment, you’ve got a soothing medley of raw wood and boho flare. Golden urns sit against a natural palette of fawn, coffee and stone and the plush sofa is a calming spot to relax. There’s something Balinese about the dining area, illuminated by a pendant lamp, and there’s a little private balcony perfect for sundowners. The view from your balcony takes in the sparkling sea, showing you how close the beach is to your doorstep.  

The Saffron Seller

Just ten metres from the seashore, and a two-minute stroll from the beach, this bright and pretty apartment is ideal for romantic Grecian getaways. You’ll find it in Karavomylos, a quiet village away from the crowds and nightlife – this is a place for relaxing and romancing. 

The apartment is charm personified. The pretty pink colour scheme gives it a welcoming vibe that makes the apartment feel like a home away from home – but a home with stunning sea views. The balcony looks right onto the inviting blue sea, with a dramatic mountain backdrop that really makes the sunsets special. 

If you’re keen to explore the island by car, there’s plenty within easy reach from the village. Well-known Myrtos Beach is a twenty-five-minute drive, while the colourful houses and Venetian ruins of Assos are thirty-two minutes away. On your way back from a day out exploring, stop for dinner in the neighbouring village, Sami – it’s only a five-minute drive so you can make it back in time for a late-night dip in the pool.

Whether you’re waking up in the comfortable bed here or falling asleep in it after a day of adventure, the Ionian provides the most incredible backdrop you’ll never tire of enjoying. 

When you’re not busy soaking up the bliss of your slice of paradise, make a beeline for Ivo Beach, a ten-minute walk away, or stroll into town to enjoy the shops and tavernas three minutes away. 


Ionian Idol

On the coast of Kefalonia, a boat trip can feel like you’re floating on air. While this might appear to defy the laws of physics, this is exactly the way Melissani Cave is often described. The water of the cavernous lake is so clear that this illusion comes to life – and living just eight minutes away is ideal for experiencing this incredible day out.

This apartment is also just ten metres from the waters of the Ionian Sea, meaning its aqua offerings are second to none. And to add to this range, you’ve also got a courtyard with a residents’ pool. We love the idea of an early morning swim followed by brunch up at your apartment – perhaps up on the private balcony? Serve up fresh Greek pastries and coffee as you look out to views of the sea, mountains, leafy trees surrounding the home. 

After breakfast, take shade from the midday sun in your elegant, modern lounge. The atmosphere is simply made for relaxing, with calming tones of blues and sandy hues reminding you of the beach. Wood and wicker add another layer of nature, while tropical-themed prints and cushions finish off with a quirky, colourful edge to leave a lasting impression. 

The Pineapple Toucan

This lovely apartment has home-away-from-home charm in spades. If you’re planning a romantic visit to Kefalonia and want somewhere cosy and attractive to return to each day, you can’t do better than this apartment. 

The apartment is mere metres from the sea, so the balcony offers lovely views. Watch boats bobbing in the water while you eat your breakfast al fresco – the distant mountains make a beautiful backdrop. This is such a pretty part of Greece – we’d definitely be heading out on day trips to make the most of the location. 

Myrtos Beach, which featured in the film version of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin, is twenty-five minutes away by car, with its dramatic stretch of white pebbles and beautifully blue water. Of course, there’s a beach just two minutes away from the apartment so you can paddle any time. 

The magical Melissani Cave is just five minutes away on foot, in Karavomylos. After taking a boat trip through the cave to discover the lake and forest within, meander through the village. Pop into a taverna for some meze and a cocktail or two – sit outside so you can watch the sunset over the sea. This place is perfect for romance. 


Tall Drink Of Water

At this charming Kefalonia apartment, you’re mere footsteps from the beach and can take advantage of the bars and restaurants of Karavomylos village. One of the island’s natural wonders, the Melissani Lake Cave, is a five-minute walk away too, where the sunshine illuminates a secluded gave lake until it glows ethereally blue. It’s also just a four-minute drive (or half-hour walk) to the port town of Sami, where the ferry leaves to the mainland and a few other islands.

The apartment is set in an exclusive resort, with access to a shared swimming pool should you tire of days on the beach. The interior feels natural and warm, in slate-grey and ombre hues. Wicker chairs at the dining table, straw mirrors and a palette of wood and stone combine to create a relaxing spot to unwind. If you want to soak up the sun, there’s a private balcony with room for four to dine as well.

This sweet little apartment is packed full of charm. It’s part of a peaceful cluster of apartments in the pretty village of Karavomylos, just a few steps from the sea. You can fall asleep at night to the soothing sound of the sea on the shore, just beyond the balcony. 

After waking up with the sun on your pillow, take your coffee to the balcony to start your day slowly – you’re on island time now, after all. The sea views are the crowning glory of this pretty apartment, which is calm and quiet, ideal for a beach holiday for two. You might decide to stroll to a nearby taverna for breakfast before spending your morning by the communal pool. The beach is two minutes away on foot, so you can switch up your sunbathing locations in a flash. 

A five-minute stroll through town is all it takes to reach Melissani Cave, one of the most beautiful sights on the island. This enchanting cave hides a turquoise lake within, with forests surrounding it. Plan your visit for midday when the sun streams through from above, giving a magical glow and adding to the romance. 

Beautiful Assos is thirty-two minutes away by car, and well worth the trip. The town is known for its colourful houses, traditional architecture, and the ruins of a Venetian castle. It’s one of the most picturesque spots on Kefalonia, so make a day of it – there are countless attractive spots for a sunset meal and cocktail. 


Ariel's Song

Boasting impressive views over the Ionian, this villa is an idyllic spot to call home in Kefalonia’s Livathos region. The simplicity of the space allows the natural surroundings of this villa to shine – we like how light-flooded the interiors are as well as the minimalist design touches. Though the kitchen is on the small side, the nearby village of Spartia offers authentic tavernas and a bakery. Pick up some produce and tuck in on your sun-dappled terrace before enjoying a siesta under the parasols or a dip in the pool.

Kefalonian Charm

This contemporary villa, perched on a hillside overlooking the Ionian Sea, boasts ocean views from inside and out. It’s also perfectly positioned to showcase the sun setting over the water – best enjoyed from the terrace with a sundowner in hand. Located within a short stroll of a selection of mini-markets, bars, and restaurants, as well as a pretty pebble and sand beach, you could enjoy a car-free getaway here. Or if you want to explore further afield, Lourdas, Argostoli, and Lixouri are all within easy driving distance.

The Sea Melody

Sunsets are magical moments from the terrace of this cute little villa for two. Perched on the hillside above the caster-sugar sweep of sand that is Polis Beach, the private patio faces west – so you can catch the golden hour reflecting on the water every evening. There’s a table for dining and drinks out here and a couple of sun loungers to make the most of the rays during the day. The villa itself is pretty in pink, and filled with Greek tradition inside. Think stone-built sofas, terracotta tiles and crisp white walls. A charming medley of darkwood furniture feels old-world. We love the sunny bedroom, with its window out to the bay and double glass doors opening straight onto the terrace.

Follow the private path straight down to Polis Beach, a short stroll away. In the bay, you’ve got a rustic kantina and pier where you can hire a boat for the day. That’s not to mention the horse-shoe of pristine, sandy beach. Heading just along the coast, the town of Frikes is a ten-minute drive away. Or, make your way further into the hills to find the village of Stavros, a five-minute drive or a twenty-five-minute walk (uphill).

Kiss by the Sea

On a hillside overlooking the breathtaking Kaminia beach, this contemporary cottage offers panoramic sea views. The perfect couple’s retreat, you’ll be within an easy drive of many of Kefalonia’s most beautiful spots. While the kitchen is on the small side, it has everything you need to whip up a homecooked breakfast – plus there’s a built-in barbecue outside for romantic sunset dinners. Surrounded by woodland and exquisite views, you’ll have a lot of privacy and peace here to soak up the scenery. 

Kefalonian Hills 

Known as “Zeus Orchard”, the land here was cultivated by monks for olive oil and wine during the 1900s. Today, it exists as a private sanctuary where guests can bask in the tranquillity of this privileged spot. Along with the glorious views over the southwestern coast, you’ll find a saltwater swimming pool, a sweet terrace and peaceful rooms. You will have neighbours here, but it still feels secluded thanks to the walled garden. For explorations further afield, we suggest hiring a car – your host can help organise car rentals along with a range of other extra services. From here, it’s just a short drive down to Paliolinos beach, while the pretty port of Argostoli is also within easy driving distance.
