Wake up in the morning to the sun shining and the sound of the sea lapping the shore at this lovely seaside apartment. With everything you need for a break by the beach, this apartment can be found in the peaceful village of Karavomylos, far away from the touristy crowds in the south of the island. 

The apartment is perfect for a family, or perhaps two couples looking to enjoy a relaxing stay at the beach. It’s light, bright, and comfortable, with a view of the garden. The balcony is the perfect place for pre-dinner cocktails, especially when the sun starts to set. 

A two-minute stroll will take you to a lovely pebble beach, where the water is calm. You might like to give snorkelling a go, or perhaps you’d prefer to lie back and soak up every second of sunshine? Along from the beach, there are a few tavernas and restaurants to choose from, so you’re sure to find somewhere to sample moussaka. There are plenty of beaches in the area to explore, so we recommend heading out in the car to see which secluded coves you can find. 

After a long day out in the sunshine, you’ll be grateful to head back to the calm, cool interior of this apartment. It has everything you need. 


Sunshine On My Window

The coast of Kefalonia is a rather special spot in the Ionian Sea. From the quaint and colourful villas on the waterside of Sami, to rugged clifftop landscapes with sheer drops to the water, spectacular contrasts make this island stand out from the rest. And just a four-minute drive from ancient Sami, this modern home adds yet another delightful contrast. 

This apartment is set just ten metres away from the sea, but has a truly earthy palette. As you step inside, there's an immediate sense of zen and a grounding feeling from sandy hues, wooden furniture, and wicker decorations. But something else stands out in this organic colour scheme – lime green. A fabulous feature wall and dining chairs create a pop of colour which brightens the space and makes your mouth water for a cold margarita. 

Mix up the cocktails and take them down to the lawn of your garden or the private balcony, where azure waters and leafy trees make up a gorgeous vista. Outside is also where you’ll find the residents’ swimming pool – not a bad place to cool off after a day in the Mediterranean sun. 

Lime Peel

Settle into this picturesque villa just a couple of kilometres from the vast sandy beaches and striking mount Ainos of Argostoli. With a balcony, sprawling pool terrace and an alfresco dining table that comfortably seats the entire group, it's perfectly set up for small groups looking to get away from it all. 

With nothing but the sweet bird song and gentle sea breeze rustling through the surrounding trees, this one is an oasis of calm serenity. Days begin with a fresh Greek coffee on the terrace, before lazing the hours away on a sun lounger. Take a dip in your crystal clear pool, before drying off for an alfresco lunch on the terrace. Famous for its black fir and wild horses, this southern location is particularly romantic – the perfect setting for pre-dinner drinks as the meat sizzles on the barbecue. 

If you can peel yourself away from this beautiful villa, we recommend packing your seaside essentials and heading to one of the sandy beaches nearby, including Trapezaki, Lourdas and Spartia – all within a short drive from your door. Head out and explore the vibrant town of Argostoli, where authentic tavernas and lively bars are just ten minutes away by car. 

Clear the Air

Let us paint you a picture: You wake up in crisp cotton sheets to the salty scent of sea air wafting through the window. Breathe it in as you step out onto your private terrace, where a turquoise infinity pool stretches before you. This is just the start of your day in paradise.

Nestled in the gentle Kefalonian hills, this Greek villa lets the scenery do the talking, favouring streamlined interiors and pared-back decor. Against the pale colour palette of greys and chalky whites, the vibrant blues of the sea and sky ahead are even richer. Gaze out from a luxury sun lounger while you sip your complimentary wine under the piercing sun.

If you can peel yourself away, there's a whole island to explore. You have a selection of beaches on your doorstep – the nearest just moments from the villa. If you're up for a drive, the paintbox village of Assos is about an hour away. Visit traditional tavernas and indulge your sweet tooth with a spoonful (or two) of honey-soaked baklava.

Blue View Villa

Overlooking the Ionian Sea, this home, split into three independent villas, is well-suited to large family reunions. We think you’ll do most of your socialising outside, thanks to the summer kitchen and private infinity pool. Loungers provide views of mountains and olive groves, and the covered terrace is the ideal spot for cocktails. The interiors are straightforward yet comfortable, with each double bedroom having its own en-suite and private outdoor space. Just a ten-minute walk away, you’ll find beautiful beaches, traditional tavernas and bars in and around Lourdas village. 

Ocean & Olive

Now that's what we call a view. Perched on a hill overlooking Mounda Beach and the Ionian Sea, it's no wonder this Kefalonia villa caught our eye. Thanks to a private infinity pool and a sunny terrace, you'll have ample opportunities to admire the scenery – although the sleek, minimalist interiors aren't too shabby, either. We also love the location. You'll be just a short walk from local tavernas and cafes, plus an easy drive to the charming streets of Skala. The nearest beach is about 4 kilometres away, so we suggest hiring a car – not to worry, as private, off-roading parking is included.

The Moon & The Stars

At this charming Kefalonia apartment, you’re mere footsteps from the beach and can take advantage of the bars and restaurants of Karavomylos village. One of the island’s natural wonders, the Melissani Lake Cave, is a five-minute walk away too, where the sunshine illuminates a secluded gave lake until it glows ethereally blue. It’s also just a four-minute drive (or half-hour walk) to the port town of Sami, where the ferry leaves to the mainland and a few other islands.

The apartment is set in an exclusive resort, with access to a shared swimming pool should you tire of days on the beach. The interior feels natural and warm, in slate-grey and ombre hues. Wicker chairs at the dining table, straw mirrors and a palette of wood and stone combine to create a relaxing spot to unwind. If you want to soak up the sun, there’s a private balcony with room for four to dine as well. 

The Sun Diety

Dating back to 1878, this home is absolutely brimming with character. Every inch harks back to the past, from exposed stone walls to whitewashed beams on the vaulted ceilings. But don't let that fool you. There are plenty of 21st-century comforts here, too – be it glossy showers or a sleek kitchen filled with all the bits and bobs you'll need to rustle up Grecian feasts.

And don't even get us started on the dazzling views. Pad outside and be greeted by the Ionian Sea sparkling on the horizon and Kefalonia's tree-studded peaks standing proud in the distance. Our favourite spot to admire the scenery? The private pool, where long, lazy afternoons relaxing in the water are a given. You also can't beat the vistas from the balcony or the terrace. Come evening, gather around the table and dine alfresco, the coastal sunset creating the dreamiest backdrop to your meal. 

For a day out and about, Kefalonia's stunning coastline is well worth exploring. Drive 10km to the famous Myrtos Beach and stretch out in the sand, or visit villages like Assos and Fiskardo for a smattering of restaurants and a whole of charm.

Eternal Are the Days

Created by the owner’s mother – this elegant villa has a wonderful location. The terrace, surrounded by scented lavender, has panoramic views of the Red Rocks, St. Jerusalem and Alaties beaches. There’s a private pool to cool off in and a gazebo for when you need some shelter from the Greek sun. You can enjoy the vistas from inside too – from the living room, the spacious attic bedroom, which is on a mezzanine above the living space and the another bedroom, which also opens out onto the terrace. When you fancy exploring, attractions nearby include the stunning Myrtos Beach.

Scented Watermelon

Kefalonia is one of the most beautiful destinations in Greece, and this home is one of the most striking holiday homes we’ve seen. Staying here, you’re able to enjoy all that the island has to offer from a luxurious and serene villa, with your every need catered for. 

The villa has a traditional stone exterior, with stylish touches like floor-to-ceiling windows. Light streams into the home, adding to the subtly tranquil style of the home. Each bedroom has its own special features, be it a private balcony for you to take your morning coffee on, or a rainfall shower that washes away any lingering stresses. 

Outside, the villa’s magic really starts to show. A spacious terrace leads to the inviting infinity pool, which looks out over the lush land below and beyond to the sea. Dining under the pergola is delightful – with a breeze dancing through your hair and the views stretched out before you, it’s impossible not to relax. Another slightly raised space under a pergola boasts comfortable sofas – this is where you’ll want to watch the sun sink in the sky each evening. 


Sunbeams On Pillows

Perched on a mountainside on Cephalonia's east coast, in the quaint fishing village of Agia Effimia, this stunning design-led home offers dreamy sea views in a secluded location. Just footsteps from the harbour's cafes, bars and restaurants and the golden sands of Beach Elies, this sumptuous pad is the perfect base for exploring Cephalonia in style.

Built using local stone, the home is an ode to the designer's lifelong infatuation with the island. Every detail works to celebrate Cephalonia's enchanting landscape. Interiors are cloaked in a neutral colour palette of creamy beiges and slate greys, creating a calming canvas. Meanwhile, warm timber beams and earthy linens complement the lush foliage nearby. Though each room offers stunning views, the outdoor terrace is the property's masterpiece. From the open-plan kitchen and lounge, open the large sliding doors and enjoy sweeping verandas of the sparkling sea and charming rooftops below. Outside, the pergola shaded dining area is the ideal spot to tuck into your complimentary breakfast and overlooks the crystalline infinity pool and jacuzzi. There's even a discrete outdoor shower nestled in the villa's stone walls, perfect for cooling off after a trip to the beach. With ample seating, including a plush outdoor lounge space and fire-pit nestled at pool height, you'll never want to leave this elegant pocket of paradise. 

Echo In My Heart

Some homes really do have it all and this is one such example. Not only does the stone villa have a covetable location right on the western coastline of Kefalonia, but this means beautiful views of the Ionian Sea and Dias Island.

As you would hope, there are plenty of spots from which you can appreciate this stunning panorama. Doing so while gliding through the infinity swimming pool is a stellar option, but there are more options on dry land, whether it's while lying back on one of the loungers or tending to the barbecue underneath the verandah.

Although it's easy to embrace alfresco living here, the villa's interior is noteworthy too for its contemporary decor, all soothing neutral tones, chic furnishings and eye-catching light fixtures. In the wider resort, there are even communal gym and yoga facilities that guests are welcome to use.

When you can muster up the willpower to drag yourself away from this incredible home, Paliolinos Beach sits only twelve minutes' walk away and is one of a huge number of coves and seaside spots to be discovered nearby. The city of Argostolion is only a twenty-minute drive away, as well.
