Looking out over the Corinthian Gulf, sitting on the balcony at this stylish villa is like having an amphitheatre seat overlooking one of mother nature’s greatest shows. Especially at sunset. Inside, it’s crisp white walls with sheer curtains that billow in the sea breeze. Driftwood accents throughout keep that beachy feel, but there’s something modern and sleek about the big, bright kitchen. Bedrooms are soothing spots to unwind, but the master bedroom cinches it with its private balcony overlooking the sparkling sea beyond.

In terms of location, you’re a ten-minute walk from the beach where crystalline shallows lap at a sandy shore. And, while there’s a shop and café a short walk away in Melissi village, the seaside resort town of Xylokastro with a selection of bars, restaurants and supermarkets is a ten-minute drive.

Less than fifty metres from the golden sands of Vromolimnos Beach, this charming villa-apartment sets the tone for the Greek island escape of your dreams. 

With your host on hand to arrange transfers and help sort out any coastal activities you fancy, it feels like luxury from the offset. As you arrive and wander across the grounds, you might even forget how close you are to the sea. Lush, green lawns, lively bushes, and leafy trees welcome you to the residents’ garden – a lovely spot to hide from the midday sun while nibbling olives and sipping wine.

As you head inside for a top-up, you’ll pass under the rich wood of your beamed ceilings. Modern yet understated, the living space features wicker and woven pieces which contribute to the theme of nature. We fell in love with this home because of its awe-inspiring outside space. The infinity pool is filled with crystal-clear water that falls into a canal, giving the illusion of an endless blue expanse. A line of loungers beckons – put your feet up and sip chilled cocktails in the sun. With multiple places to dine al fresco, you may feel tempted to cook up a storm in the well-outfitted kitchen. We'd recommend starting with a simple Greek salad, or requesting a private chef if you'd rather leave it to the pros.

Drive to Limnonari Beach, a tree-fringed cove that encapsulates all that is special about Greece – translucent water, reliably blue skies and magical surroundings, to name but a few. Skopelos town sits at the east of the island, a patchwork of sugar cube buildings with terracotta rooves. Wind through stone-paved streets before finding a waterfront taverna to while away the evening. 

Island Idyll

On the secluded island of Alonnisos in the northwest Aegean Sea, sitting on a hill above the water, this villa awaits its next lucky guests.
