In Nea Skioni, Halkidiki, this villa is just 50 metres from the nearest sandy beach. It’s a short walk into the coastal town, where you’ll find seafood restaurants and family-run tavernas galore. Days can be spent by the poolside, or indulging in long, lazy lunches on the terrace outdoors with the sea shimmering in the distance. Although it’s one of four similar maisonettes within a holiday complex, the traditional Greek touches inside – a stone fireplace and beachy bric-a-brac on the open-plan living area – save it from feeling generic.

The only way to get here is by boat or kayak from the mainland, but don’t worry – there’s a private jetty and horseshoe of private beach for that. You can cover the length of the island on foot in half an hour, through fragrant pine forests and past sandy beaches.

But being a castaway here doesn’t mean roughing it; this villa is pure luxury, from the double day beds by the swimming pool to the whirlpool bath overlooking the private beach and Jacuzzi tub on the terrace. While you'll be right by the sea, you'll have to drive a short way up the road to the nearest sandy beach, which is the gorgeous Nea Skioni beach.

There are shared facilities including a gym and indoor pool, but you’ll also have your own outdoor pool and garden to enjoy. The neighbouring villas are fairly close to this home so it’s not entirely private, but you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable stay in Greece. The best feature of this villa is undoubtedly the view – you’ll likely spend all of your time gazing out to sea here. If you can tear your gaze away, the nearest beach is just five minutes away.

This home couldn’t be more ideally located. Set on Kassandra’s east coast, a short drive from both Pefkohori and Chaniotis, this villa offers the best of both worlds. While the interior is simple and the bedrooms are stripped-back, the place is well-equipped and certainly comfortable. Outside, there’s a barbecue and a covered terrace for alfresco dining. There isn’t a swimming pool here, but the beach is only a short walk away, so you’ll still keep cool on scorching days.

Mediterranean Mellow

Situated in Pefkochori, within walking distance of the beach, restaurants and tavernas, this home is designed for families, newlyweds and groups of friends. The abode is located in a complex with three other villas in close proximity, so there may be little privacy. Inside, space is tight for a group of ten, so the place is better suited for those who like to spend their time in the sunshine. Outside, there’s a pool and a well-kept garden with a terrace for both dining and relaxing.

If the coastal panorama proves tempting, there's direct access to a small rocky beach so you can roll out of bed and be swimming in mere moments. If you just prefer to admire it from afar, you can do so from the seating on the pergola or on the master bedroom's masterful balcony.

Spread over three floors, there is more than enough room for six adults here – we especially like that there are two indoor living areas, perfect for breaking off into smaller groups. There's plenty to enjoy here – there's a beach just a short stroll away, incredible sea views, and a pool perfect for sunset dips. The lack of cooking essentials could be a minor issue, although there are several delicious eateries nearby.
