The village of Vourkari – just an eight-minute drive away – provides an opportunity for not only beach days but also scuba diving experiences. 

Coressia, the island’s port, is just a twelve-minute drive away, while the capital Ioulis is a twenty-five-minute drive away. In Ioulis you will be able to visit the archaeological museum and even see the Lion of Kea – an impressive early Greek stone monument that dates back to the Archaic period. 

What’s more, there is a regular ferry connection between Athens and Kea which takes about an hour, taking you to the Lavrion port. From here, you can drive about fifty-six minutes to Greece’s capital and explore everything Athens has to offer.

With the sunken jacuzzi situated right under a skylight, we recommend tipping your head back in the glow of the sun as you unwind with the jets turned on. 

Outside, where the real magic happens, we recommend long lazy days spent sunbathing on the floating beds. Honour Oceanus, the Titan of old, with a dip in the cool waters, and gaze out over the impressive view. On the pretty island of Kea, this home is set over the sandy beach of Xyla (the views from the pool are amazing), which can be reached in just five minutes on foot. The closest island to Athens, ferries back and forth are frequent so you can enjoy some day trips to the capital. The yachting Marina of Vourkari is just a five-minute drive away, where you can experience some of the best seaside restaurants and bars. While the nearest sandy beach of Yaliskari is roughly 1.5km away from your door.

When you’re not exploring the surrounding areas, enjoy relaxing days lounging in the Greek sunshine before slipping into the cool water of the swimming pool with its unobstructed views of the amazing waters and bay that are the crowning glory of the landscape. 

The large main terrace here offers a pergola-covered seating and dining area, which creates the ideal spot for quiet reading in the shade or alfresco dining overlooking the ocean as the sun sets and sends the vistas golden. While the decor is a little dated and won't be to everyone's taste, it's wheelchair accessible with entertainment aplenty. There's a private pool, tennis court and mini football pitch, perfect for tiring the kids out. You'll want a car here, as the colourful town of Vourkari is just a fifteen-minute drive away. As Kea's most well-known bay, you'll find a range of lively taverns, cafes, and boutique shops.

A Way With Water

Sitting close to the northern tip of the isle of Kea, it's hard to imagine a more peaceful location for a Greek getaway. Indeed, you'll never tire of the views of the Ionian Sea enjoyed from the home's outdoor space, which also features a swimming pool and lots of space for alfresco dinners. The living quarters quite sensibly don't try to compete with these wonderful surroundings and are simple in style. The fact that there are two separate guest houses on the site might be handy for separate families or large friendship groups paying a visit, as well.

A ten-minute walk will bring you to the nearest sandy beaches of Koundouros, and you'll find beach bars, tavernas and water sports.

There’s not much going on in the local area, but if you fancy exploring, the village of Vourkari makes for an excellent day trip destination.
