It’s the ideal choice for families looking for a peaceful break, though the hustle and bustle of Corfu Town is only a twenty-minute drive. Dassia Village and the beach are closer to home, both within walking distance. The outside space here is stunning – we love the shallow pool and its sun loungers. There’s even a playground for kids. Perched on a picturesque hillside surrounded by olive trees in northern Corfu, this villa has a gorgeous view of the Ionian Sea and the island's coastal villages in the distance. 

Thankfully, there's no shortage of ways to admire this landscape, whether you're seated on one of the bedroom's balconies, enjoying a dinner cooked on the barbecue underneath the pergola, or even paddling about in the swimming pool. Thanks to the tables out on the terrace, you can even drink in the scenery while playing a spot of ping-pong or pool.

Inside, the home is gloriously bright as a result of the generous amount of floor-to-ceiling windows and glass doors. The stark white walls and sleek surfaces work to accentuate this natural light, while welcome bursts of colour come from the furnishings and artwork. We're glad to see a fireplace in the living room, which will be the perfect setting once the sun goes down.

If you fancy a day at the seaside at any point, Barbati Beach only takes fifteen minutes or so to reach in the car. Nymfes Waterfall sits twenty-five minutes' drive in the other direction, as well.

You'll find many a Corfu home with views of the Ionian Sea and plenty more that look out to Mount Pantokrator, but rarely will you see one with a panorama that manages to combine both of these natural elements in such picturesque fashion.

Perched just above the village of Barbati, this villa has been blessed when it comes to the surrounding landscape and it really makes the most of it. You can appreciate this peaceful scenery while swimming in the infinity pool, dining out on the terrace or relaxing on the bedroom's balcony before you turn in for the night.

The stone home is quietly impressive when you step in through its doors, with its sleek kitchen island, luxurious bathrooms and splashes of colour coming from the collection of vibrant artwork.

When you need to stock up, Barbati's bakery, shops and markets take about fifteen minutes to reach on foot and even has its own beach in case you needed added incentive to make a visit. In the other direction, Nymfes Waterfall is a thirty-five-minute drive away.

We are totally smitten with this stunning Corfu villa, and with just one glance at the outdoor space, you'll see exactly why – the beautiful infinity pool, the flowing white curtains and the views over the hills and houses of picturesque Corfu, all work to make this home feel like a true paradise. Yet, you’re just a fifteen-minute drive from Corfu Old Town where you can get lost in the labyrinth of boutique-lined ancient streets, or hit the buzzing restaurants and bars of Liston. 

Apart from private beach access, this villa has myriad things to keep you relaxed and entertained. Plunge into the infinity-edge pool for a cooling dip, or fire up the hot tub to soothe aching muscles with a cold drink in hand. Those that appreciate a bit more privacy can opt for the garden annexe with its own entrance, kitchenette and sitting room.

You’ll find this dreamy pad in Kalami, close enough to the village to reach it on foot and also within walking distance of Gialiskari Beach. It’s also close to the famous White House, home of the Durrells in the 1930s. Spread over three floors – and with a handy lift – this home has plenty of room for a large group. The outside space features a heated pool with hydrotherapy jets and a pool pergola with an outdoor shower. Two guests will be sleeping on single sofa beds in the lounge area of bedroom five, but with views like these, you won’t be wasting much of your time in bed anyway.

Jutting out of a mountain facing the Ionian Sea, we couldn't find a thing we didn't like about this incredible home. Panoramic sea views from the terrace and infinity pool mean you'll spend most of the day in the sun here – stick around into the evening and watch the sunset with a cocktail. Although the interior has to compete with the terrace, it pulls no punches either, its floor-to-ceiling windows meaning you can cool off while still enjoying the sun. And if you're travelling with young love, the separate guest house lets them have some privacy – though at capacity, they'll be sharing the living room with another couple on the sofa bed.

The Green Chariot

Perched on an olive tree-lined hillside overlooking the Ionian Sea and the Albanian coast, this quaint cottage is perfect for those looking for a waterside retreat in Corfu's well-heeled northeast. Its two en-suite bedrooms are separated by a small flight of steps, which works well for groups of friends, or families with older children. While the interior decor might be a little dated, it's well-maintained and benefits from access to a private terrace and a shared swimming pool – both with far-reaching sea views. You'll find traditional tavernas, shops stocking essentials, and the pebbled shore of Nissaki within walking distance. With its clear waters, water sports and boats available for hire, there's little reason to venture far.

Here’s how an average day reads at this sea-facing villa perched just a short flip-flop from the dazzling waters of Barbati Beach.
