Nidri village is a five-minute drive, while the Dimosari Waterfalls (1.8 kilometres) and Nidri Beach (1.3 kilometres) are beauty spots not to be missed.

Built into a Lefkada hillside – in a rather harmonious fashion we might add – this sensational villa is blessed with the sort of incredible views at which you'll never tire of gawping. From the address, there's an uninterrupted panorama of the Ionian Sea, Nydri Gulf and the neighbouring island of Skorpios.

As you would hope, there are plenty of spots from which you can admire this wonderful landscape. If the weather's on the warmer side, you can take in the surroundings from the pair of swimming pools or out on one of the myriad terraces and balconies. When the sun's gone down, you can choose instead to sink back into the Jacuzzi or retire next to the fire pit for a little bit of added cosiness.

Although you'll want to spend as much time out in the open air as possible here, you won't be disappointed when you finally have to head inside. There are two wings to the property, plus a self-contained studio apartment, which means that there's an abundance of private space, even for larger groups. The design throughout is gloriously contemporary, with sleek surfaces, a minimalist approach to adornment and oodles of natural light from the large windows. If you ever have a hankering for the more rustic side of Greek accommodation, the pair of wood-burning fireplaces might just scratch that itch.

Located in the harbour village of Sivota and surrounded by olive groves, this four-bedroom home boasts a private, outdoor swimming pool and a terrace with a pergola from which to admire stunning sea views. What’s more, there’s an outdoor kitchen and a covered alfresco dining area – perfect for making the most of sunny days and balmy nights. Although family-friendly, it’s worth noting that this home’s ladder-effect balconies and low stone walls mean young children should be kept an eye on.

You'll find this villa only twenty minutes from Lefkada Town and seven from Pefkoulia Beach. It's a great location, close to the action but still tucked away for guests who want a bit more peace and quiet. The Ionian Sea views are pretty hard to be, too. Our favourite spot to admire them is the balcony, but the private pool also offers a glimpse of the scenery. The interior is contemporary, with stone walls and beamed ceilings to give it a bit of character. Upstairs, the snug mezzanine-level twin room is ideal for older children, but as the only two full bathrooms here are en-suites, guests in this bedroom will have to share.

The property is a heavenly hideaway just made for two, set in ancient olive groves, overlooking the azure Ionian Sea, on the Greek island of Lefkada. Sticking outside, there's plenty to keep you occupied after you've finished frolicking about in the pool's cooling waters. The loungers offer a lovely way to soak up some sunshine, while the covered outdoor kitchen and dining table provide some welcome shade, too.

There's a lot to like about the home itself, as well. The architect has mixed more traditional features, such as the exposed stonework and patterned tiling in the kitchen, with contemporary additions, like the pastel-shaded bedrooms and the large glass doors in almost every room that bring in bountiful amounts of natural light – as well as looking out to the coastal vista.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the island, there are plenty of beaches a short drive away, including Tsoukalades just over ten minutes away, while there are museums and restaurants aplenty in the main town of Lefkada, only twenty minutes away in the car.

Boundless Sky

Set on a gently sloping hillside above the semi-circular bay of Vasiliki, this home has amazing views of the sandy, family-friendly beach of Ponti. There’s a sparkling private swimming pool and sun terrace for those long sunny days. Inside, the minimalist chalet-style decor lets the wonderful sea vistas do the talking. Location-wise, it’s 1.5 kilometres to the nearest taverna and 200 metres further to the sandy beach of Ponti (remember to wear comfy shoes if you decide to walk, as it's uphill on the way back). This area is perfect for wind and kite surfing, kayaking, yachting, and scuba diving too, making it a perfect base for active and leisure travellers alike.

A Little Elysium

Situated above Agios Nikitas, this villa, with its knockout views, is an ideal spot for couples and small families alike. The outdoor space offers a private pool and dining area, so you have everything you need to relax and socialise at home, though we’d recommend checking out some of the local tavernas. Located on the west coast of Lefkada, the home is an excellent base if you’re looking for pristine white sand beaches or want to explore the island’s traditional villages.

Just outside the main town, this villa on Lefkas puts castle ruins, long sandy beaches and streets filled with tavernas and family-run restaurants all within striking distance. It’s a ten-minute walk to the sandy beach at Agios Ioannis, where ancient windmills stand tall against the blue sky. The sea is so blue here, it’s easy to see why Lefkas is known as the Caribbean of Greece. Fifteen minutes’ walk in the other direction sees you in the atmospheric streets of Lefkas’ main town. 

This villa is set in perfectly manicured gardens where the scent of lavender floats on the sea breeze. Plush outdoor lounges are tucked into the side of the house and shaded by wooden pergolas. At the heart of it all, the shimmering swimming pool invites you for a dip on hot days. Come lunchtime, a summer kitchen can provide the alfresco feast at the long dining table outside.

Heading inside, the living area is open-plan and social with a wall of glass sliding back to blend the terrace into the mix. Everything in here feels light-wood and Scandi-chic, from dining table to kitchen counters. In the bonus basement you’ve got a games room with ping pong and a dedicated gym for those that want to keep fit. 

Mandala Flow

This home on the sunny island of Lefkada is perfect for two couples seeking a romantic getaway. While it’s not exactly within walking distance of any beaches, the panoramic vistas more than compensate for it. Speaking of, did we mention the two double bedrooms benefit from spectacular views? With its private infinity pool with Jacuzzi, outdoor kitchenette and alfresco dining table, this home has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. It’s only 3km from the beach and situated in Lefkada town, where you can explore bustling shops, charming restaurants and vibrant nightlife.  

To the Water's Edge

Standing over the glittering Ionian Sea, this impressive villa offers plenty of outdoor space. The garden has an array of patios and relaxing spots from which to admire views of the Lefkada countryside, our favourite being the emerald infinity pool. All three bedrooms have their own balcony too, where you can enjoy some time to yourself. It was the jetty just below the villa that caught our eye, however, which offers a sunbathing area right next to the ocean. It’s only shared with two other villas, so you don’t have to worry about overcrowding. The traditional harbour of Sivota is just a 45-minute walk away, where you can enjoy a meal on the waterfront.

Emerald & Topaz

Surrounded by olive groves and dense forest, the scent of pine and cedar lingers in the air at this deluxe villa. From the jutting hilltop terrace the view out over sparkling Dessimi Bay, flanked by verdant hills, is simply stunning. Enjoy it from the cool of the infinity pool, or on a lounger in the sun. Secret terraces and verandas are furnished with macrame hanging chairs, hammocks and sofas providing many a boho-luxe spot to enjoy a good book. The first-floor balcony is the perfect spot to take in the mountain and sea view, preferably with a cocktail in hand.

It feels as though the interiors have been designed with nature in mind. Driftwood sculptures, macrame cushions and wicker chairs and lampshades create a palette of raw wood and white. It all draws the eye to the view from floor to ceiling glass, which can be rolled back to blend the living room with the terrace. The kitchen is minimalist but feels luxurious in dove-grey with everything tucked away behind cupboards. While bedrooms benefit from glass doors onto patios and balconies.

This one’s for a beachy break with the closest sandy bay a five-minute walk away at Dessimi. And if you fancy dining out, the charming town of Nidri is just a ten-minute drive.

Bayside Lookout

Overlooking the Ionian Sea, this home is perfectly positioned for a restorative island escape. From here, leisurely days can be spent relaxing by the pool and admiring the views while sipping drinks on the terrace. Inside, highlights include the calm, family-friendly rooms and the balcony which can be accessed from the main bedroom. You will need a car to get around here, but your host can help organise car rentals, plus it’s just 3 kilometres to the nearest beach, while Lefkada Town is also within easy driving distance.
