Built into a Lefkada hillside – in a rather harmonious fashion we might add – this sensational villa is blessed with the sort of incredible views at which you'll never tire of gawping. From the address, there's an uninterrupted panorama of the Ionian Sea, Nydri Gulf and the neighbouring island of Skorpios.

As you would hope, there are plenty of spots from which you can admire this wonderful landscape. If the weather's on the warmer side, you can take in the surroundings from the pair of swimming pools or out on one of the myriad terraces and balconies. When the sun's gone down, you can choose instead to sink back into the Jacuzzi or retire next to the fire pit for a little bit of added cosiness.

Although you'll want to spend as much time out in the open air as possible here, you won't be disappointed when you finally have to head inside. There are two wings to the property, plus a self-contained studio apartment, which means that there's an abundance of private space, even for larger groups. The design throughout is gloriously contemporary, with sleek surfaces, a minimalist approach to adornment and oodles of natural light from the large windows. If you ever have a hankering for the more rustic side of Greek accommodation, the pair of wood-burning fireplaces might just scratch that itch.

In the local village, there are a couple of restaurants to keep you satiated, but there's a much wider choice in the tourist town of Nydri, about twenty minutes' drive away. In the same direction, Dessimi Beach takes just over a quarter of an hour to reach in the car.

If you want to swap the pool for the ocean and soft, golden sands, then head to Pefkoulia Beach, a five-minute drive. Or, if you're feeling more energetic, go windsurfing and kitesurfing in Vassiliki. Tsoukalades, 700 metres away, has a smattering of restaurants and shops, while the charming and colourful capital of Lefkada is ten minutes by car.

Overlooking an assembly of islands in the Ionian Sea, this breezy villa has several balconies and a private pool boasting panoramic views across Nydri. Spanning three stories, it won't be suitable for those with limited mobility, and the interiors are minimalistic and dated in some places. That said, it's relatively roomy and the sun-kissed outdoor spaces are perfect for socialising – the veranda makes a great spot for family barbecues. As it's located high in the mountains, you'll definitely need a car – although the beach and centre of Nydri are just over 1 kilometre away, where you can hop on a boat to visit the surrounding islands.

It’s not just its octagonal shape that gives this home an edge. Just outside the main town, this villa on Lefkas puts castle ruins, long sandy beaches and streets filled with tavernas and family-run restaurants all within striking distance. It’s a ten-minute walk to the sandy beach at Agios Ioannis, where ancient windmills stand tall against the blue sky. The sea is so blue here, it’s easy to see why Lefkas is known as the Caribbean of Greece. Fifteen minutes’ walk in the other direction sees you in the atmospheric streets of Lefkas’ main town. 

This villa is set in perfectly manicured gardens where the scent of lavender floats on the sea breeze. Plush outdoor lounges are tucked into the side of the house and shaded by wooden pergolas. At the heart of it all, the shimmering swimming pool invites you for a dip on hot days. Come lunchtime, a summer kitchen can provide the alfresco feast at the long dining table outside.

Heading inside, the living area is open-plan and social with a wall of glass sliding back to blend the terrace into the mix. Everything in here feels light-wood and Scandi-chic, from dining table to kitchen counters. In the bonus basement you’ve got a games room with ping pong and a dedicated gym for those that want to keep fit.

A breathtaking stay awaits you at this divine villa. It sits in a peaceful and picturesque spot, nestled away on a hillside just a short drive from Lefkada's capital city. Built with Byzantine design elements in mind, this majestic home is easy to mistake for an ancient monastery – albeit, more suited to sun-worshippers than monks.

The elevated position means this home benefits from ocean views in one direction and mountain vistas in the other, and it certainly isn't short on places to sit back, relax and soak in these stunning surroundings. We especially love the outdoor pool, complete with in-pool loungers for ultimate relaxation – and the flower-filled courtyard is the perfect place for your morning coffee.

With one of the best views we've seen on this beautiful island, this newly-built home is an understated slice of magic. Set on a green hillside overlooking the glittering sea, it'll be an effort to do anything but sit and stare when you first arrive.

Part of a small cluster of similar homes, this one stands apart from the others so it's perfect if privacy is high on your agenda. Handbuilt by the owner in a traditional style, there are two floors – each with its own kitchen and independent entrance but linked internally by stairs – so it offers some flexibility. And best of all, there's plenty of outside space to enjoy that view from. Walk across to your private pool and comfy sun loungers await on the stone terrace, surrounded by fragrant wild herbs and olive trees, all with staggering views – especially at sunset.

Elsewhere, five comfortable bedrooms – three upstairs and two on the ground floor – make this home big enough for a large group of friends or a couple of families holidaying together. With a shared living room and a choice of dining spots outside, it's easy to spend time all together or to find some privacy.

For the more adventurous, a steep hike leads down to a little private cove, where clear waters and a white pebble beach are yours to enjoy. Not the easiest walk and likely to take you around twenty-five minutes, it's well worth it to dive into those turquoise waters. The owner even runs yoga and wellness retreats where you're encouraged to get closer to nature.

With some of the more popular beaches within a twenty-minute drive, along with the pretty, hillside village of Athani, there's lots to see and do away from the villa too.

You'll find this villa only twenty minutes from Lefkada Town and seven from Pefkoulia Beach. It's a great location, close to the action but still tucked away for guests who want a bit more peace and quiet. The Ionian Sea views are pretty hard to be, too. Our favourite spot to admire them is the balcony, but the private pool also offers a glimpse of the scenery. The interior is contemporary, with stone walls and beamed ceilings to give it a bit of character. Upstairs, the snug mezzanine-level twin room is ideal for older children, but as the only two full bathrooms here are en-suites, guests in this bedroom will have to share.

Skylit Nights

Located just a few metres from the vast sandy beach and turquoise waters of Agios Ioannis, this pink-coloured two-storey villa promises an effortless retreat for a family or small group of friends. 

Days begin outside, sipping a fresh Greek coffee on your pretty little balcony overlooking the shimmering sea. Lap up the gentle breeze and tranquillity of your natural surroundings, allowing yourself to adopt the slow pace of the island. Swim a couple of leisurely lengths before picking out a sun lounger for a serious tanning session, or perhaps you'll head to the beach for your dose of sand and surf. You're well catered for when it comes to alfresco areas, with a shaded dining table that comfortably seats the entire group, plus an outdoor kitchen for seamless outdoor living. 

Inside, oak floors and marble-tiled bathrooms add that extra level of luxury, while the homespun furnishings and decorative details will have you feeling welcome from the get-go. On the outside, this charming villa has an old-world appeal, with its red wooden shutters, rust-coloured tegula roof and classic stone façade. But step inside and you'll find bright and open living spaces, sleek bathrooms  (one even has a jacuzzi-style tub) and bedrooms as comfortable as they are stylish. We think it's the perfect family home – and with views like that, it's hard to imagine a more idyllic getaway.

Days here are endlessly dreamy. Wake up to the sight of the Sivota Bay in the distance, then pad out onto the balcony to savour an espresso in the morning air. Afternoons are best spent lounging on the daybed (an excellent spot for a catnap in the sun), splashing in the glimmering pool and swinging in the hammock underneath the shady trees. Follow the path down to the sea when you fancy a dip in the ocean, or stroll through the lush gardens, picking fresh vegetables, ripened fruit and aromatic herbs to use for the night's dinner. And speaking of meals, there's no better place to tuck into a feast than the outdoor table, sharing a bottle of wine as the evening slowly fades.

It's only a five-minute drive into town, where local tavernas and coffee shops sit along the bay. Many beautiful sandy beaches are also within easy reach, including Afteli (a fifteen-minute drive), Ammoussa (reachable in twenty minutes) and Paralia Mikros Gialos (twenty-two minutes by car), so there’ll never be a dull day in paradise.

This understated villa is designed with the surrounding landscape in mind, complementing the nature and quiet beauty of Lefkas Island. Interiors are laidback and breezy, with neutral tones, shabby-chic furnishings and soothing blue tones. Windows frame the seascape-like paintings in the living space and glass doors in the kitchen open wide onto a neat terrace – it’s the perfect spot for long, lazy dinners that last well into the evening.

When hunger strikes, head into the charming village of Vasiliki for a slap-up feast in a cosy taverna. Finish the day with a blazing sunset on Vasiliki Beach before heading home for a blissful sleep in comfortable beds.

Call of the Sea

A great pick for groups looking to escape the tourist spots, this villa is a short drive from Tsoukalades Beach. But that's not all – authentic restaurants, rugged hiking trails, and a monastery await nearby. Though the gated entrance and car park are shared with two neighbouring homes, privacy is guaranteed at the pool terrace and leafy barbecue area. While the mezzanine-level third bedroom isn't suitable for little ones, its sea-facing balcony makes it a winner for older kids who crave space.

It's likely that one of the first things you'll want to do when arriving here is to jump in the pool. And since the entire villa is set up to enjoy the private terrace – you don't have to be a big swimmer to make the most of this home. Instead, find some peace and quiet on one of the sun loungers around the pool – as the views from here overlook the blissful mountainous landscape and olive groves all around. Also found just next to the pool area is a convenient outdoor dining area – lovely for homemade Greek meals and barbecues in the sun.  

Inside modern home comforts are balanced in perfect harmony with the traditional infrastructure of the villa. From the stone walls to the exposed wooden beams – admire the home's original character, all while making the most of its modern luxuries. 

Positioned just a two-minute walk away from Ligia Port and only five minutes away from the beach – the location couldn't be more on point either. When exploring Ligia, you'll get to experience the true essence of life in Greece, with seafood taverns lined around the natural bay. Come evening time – there is nothing more idyllic than sitting by the water as the sun sets and enjoying fresh fare caught by the local fishermen.

When lunchtime beckons, gather the group for a traditional mezze platter and feast together under the shaded pergola. 

Inside, oak floors, marble touches and an open fireplace keep things cosy, while the stylish decorative details create a boho-chic feel that's light and airy throughout. After a quick snooze in the comfortable bedrooms, grab your towel and take the short walk down to Agios Ioannis beach for a fun-filled day sprawled out on the sand. When you fancy heading out for dinner one night, Lefkas Town is a short taxi across the bridge, where you'll find authentic tavernas and lively bars.

Offering plenty of outdoor space, we couldn't believe this two-storey Lefkada villa was only for four guests. Inside, the home is a little by-the-numbers, and the living area isn't the most spacious around, but it's plenty comfortable for when the sun gets too much. In the bedrooms, the Juliette balconies are a nice touch, and you can look forward to slowly waking up to the sun pouring through the large windows. With only a few places to eat nearby, you'll need a car here – though the nearest is only 100 yards away, you'll find plenty with a short drive.


This charming villa is located just 100 meters from the beach of Agios Ioannis, one of the best spots for kite surfing and windsurfing in Lefkada. The villa features an open-plan living room and kitchen that opens onto a garden and patio with a private pool. Guests can relax on the sunbeds, chairs, or dining table under the big pergola for shade by the pool. The luxury furnished living room contains satellite TV, DVD, CD, and radio.
