Hydromassage swimming pool, wood-fire oven and gorgeous views across Platis Gialos Bay? You got it. This serene villa ticks all our boxes and then some, promising a relaxing and restful treat in Sifnos. 

You'll spend most of your time on the veranda, where the cool blue pool beckons on hot afternoons. Fire up the barbecue and outdoor oven when you're feeling peckish – we suggest souvlaki with a side of homemade pita bread – then tuck into your meal underneath the shade of the pergola, watching as the boats bob in the harbour. After lunch, sprawl out for a catnap in the sunshine or retreat inside to the breezy living room and take a breather on the built-in sofas. We love the eclectic mix of antiques – when paired with the white-wash walls, the whole house feels modern yet traditional. Come evening, sip cocktails or share a bottle of local Grecian wine as the sun sets over the Aegean Sea.

Location-wise, you're just a seven-minute drive from Paralia Platis Gialos and its charming array of beachfront eateries and tavernas. Hoping to stay active on your holiday? Your host provides four mountain bikes and guests can enjoy a daily one-hour canoe, paddleboard or water bike lesson – included with stays between May and September.

Sifnos might not be one of Greece's most well-known islands but if it means beautiful villas such as this are easier to snap up, perhaps this semi-obscurity isn't such a bad thing.

Perched close to the eastern coastline, you're blessed with a truly glorious panorama of dazzling blue Ionian Sea and rugged rocky terrain. There are plenty of spots from which you can enjoy this view, whether it's lounging on the terrace, dining under the pergola or even inside peering out through the windows.

Although it faces tough competition, the home's interior rewards closer inspection, too. The cleansingly white walls and floors feel both contemporary in style and perfectly cooling during hot Mediterranean afternoons. The kitchen is rather large and sleek in style in case you fancy knocking up a banquet at any point — there's also a balcony if you prefer to do so alfresco.

When you want a day at the seaside, Apokofto Beach is less than five minutes' walk away. The island's main town of Apollonia is a quarter of an hour's drive away and offers a decent range of restaurants and bars.



Herculean Holiday

Perched upon a hill in beautiful Sifnos, with jaw-dropping ocean views, stands this swoon-worthy abode. It slots nicely into its leafy surroundings with its earthy stone exterior and well-kept gardens. It feels pleasingly remote here. But the buzzy dining scene and markets of Apollonia City are just a ten-minute drive away. And the ferry port is a quick twenty-minute drive. Beach-lovers can reach Xrisopigi and Apokofto beaches by car in three minutes. Perfection. 

Inside, white-washed walls and stone floors bring a chic, bright and breezy vibe. The blue of the ocean shines through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The living room and kitchen are roomy and all but two of the serene bedrooms come with an en-suite. So there’s plenty of space for fourteen. 

Rustle up some tapas with ingredients picked from the garden, and scoff them with your favourite people out on the terrace. The relaxing seating space out there is perfectly placed to watch the sparkling Aegean Sea and Cyclades Islands. Bliss.

A modern home in heavenly surrounds, we can't imagine a better base to explore the unspoiled island of Sifnos from. It doesn't get much more secluded than this – perched on a cliff overlooking a wide endless sea, this villa encourages you to leave it all behind from the moment you step through its doors.

Feel like the only soul in the world when you float through the infinity pool, or curl up in a swing chair on the terrace. Everywhere you look, you'll be treated to the island's organic landscape, from rugged groves to sugar cube homes peppered into the distance. Inside, the villa is cleanly decorated with a contemporary sense of style. Your hosts have opted for a bright, neutral palette to let the views do the talking, with whitewashed beams that nod to traditional Greek architecture.

Drive just five minutes down the road to reach Apollonia, Sifnos' main town.  This stone-paved community has been built amphitheatrically around three low hills, resulting in a unique and picturesque setting. Wind your way through narrow streets lifted with bright flowers and painted doorways – we'd suggest finding a traditional bakery to sample the local baklava.

Perched on the northeastern coastline of Sifnos, this villa is a unique mix of traditional Cycladic architecture and sleek modern amenities. 

As you approach the home, it's hard to picture a prettier scene — the home's stone walls sit among Mediterranean vegetation and the Aegean Sea dazzles in the background. Explore the perimeters and you'll spot a vegetable garden from which guests are welcome to pick, a pen holding two resident donkeys and a beautiful stone-trimmed swimming pool with an endless panorama of ocean and sky.

Head in through one of the glass doors and discover an interior that mixes high ceilings, exposed stonework and floating staircases to striking effect. Spread across two levels with an additional pair of guesthouses, there's both plenty of space and lots of privacy.

Although the secluded location is a perfectly peaceful place in which to kick back and relax, the town of Apollonia only takes ten minutes to reach in the car, while the nearest beach — Paralia Seralia — is a twelve-minute drive.

This home stands on what was once a traditional Greek village. Comprising of four separate buildings, with shared terraces and a pool, this home has enough space to spread out and come back together for alfresco meals and sunbathing. Located in Sifnos, there are some beautiful beaches to explore, all within a 25-minute drive so we’d recommend renting a car. It’s worth noting that due to the low walls and stone steps, this home is not suitable for young children, but we think it’s ideal for a group of friends looking to relax and socialise.

The villa can be found on Sifnos, a stunning island famed for its sculpture, sandy beaches and iconic turquoise sea. There are beaches nearby, including Faros beach, which is just three minutes away by car – or a seventeen-minute stroll if you’re keen to soak up every second of the sunshine. Beautiful Apollonia – the capital of Sifnos – is ten minutes away by car. This charming town boasts a picture-perfect landscape of whitewashed houses in addition to shops, restaurants and bars. Stroll around the pretty streets picking out places to eat meze or souvlaki. 

After exploring the surrounding area, spend your time by the pool of the villa. The pool is invitingly blue, with striking views of the mountains catching your eye at every turn. Whether you’re swimming laps, doing yoga in the shade or dining alfresco, you’re sure to fall in love with this home and its peaceful vibe.

Overlooking one of this island's most picturesque landmarks, Panagia Chrisopigi, this home has fabulous views from both inside and out. If that wasn't enough, this villa has its own direct access to a private beach – don't you think that's utter bliss? We do, for sure – it's the perfect spot for a dip in the crystal clear Aegean Sea. 

If you want to discover the other beaches nearby, Platy Gialos is an excellent place to start – its golden sands are just 2km away. The town of Apollonia is also a great place to stop off for a bite to eat and a wander around the traditional streets. 

Enjoy spectacular sunsets from your vibrant pink bougainvillaea draped terrace with a glass of ouzo. Inside, unique pieces of art add to this home's magical setting. Seeing as Sifnos is known for being a foodie's delight, rustle up some revithada (chickpea stew) for lunch in the charming country-style kitchen. This villa is the perfect place for a family or friends who want a tranquil break. Beautiful memories are easy to create here.

Built in 1832 for a powerful local family, this enormous Neoclassical villa is one of a kind. Set over two floors, the villa overlooks the sea and hills of Sifnos. The home will suit families or groups who love to spend time outdoors – the large terrace and hammock-strewn gardens are perfect for lazy days in the sun – and like their holiday properties with some character. The insides are a little eccentric, but that’s part of the charm of this home.

This Cycladic villa caught our eye with its sweeping views and fabulous outdoor space. It overlooks Platis Gialos bay, and while it might not be within walking distance of the nearest beach – you'll need to hire a car – Platis Yialos is just 4km away. Other highlights include the large heated Jacuzzi and the host's concierge service – they're happy to organise massage treatments, private island tours and other extras on request. The interior is a tad dated, but breakfast is included here – it's best enjoyed on the terrace as the sun rises, of course.

With sprays of magenta bougainvillaea, unobstructed views of the Aegean Sea and stylishly rustic interiors, this peaceful villa is just the ticket for those wanting to escape the bustle of everyday life. You’ll feel instantly at ease in the living space with its exposed stone walls, wood-beamed ceilings and collection of modern and antique furnishings – it was our favourite place to switch off and relax. Keen cooks will find everything they need in the fully-equipped kitchen for rustling up tasty dinners but if you’d prefer to take the night off, call upon your fantastic host to arrange for a private chef to treat you and your loved ones.

Start your mornings with a coffee overlooking the glittering bay before plunging into the pool and swimming a couple of leisurely laps. In the afternoon, strap on your sandals and wander down to Platis Gialos Beach, just twelve minutes from your doorstep, and stretch out on the soft sands. Should you fancy exploring a little further afield, the charming town of Apollonia is a fifteen-minute drive away.

The sleeping arrangements are flexible here, and there’s plenty of space to spread out and enjoy some quiet time and even a private Orthodox Church. But for us, it’s the outdoor space that’s sure to catch your eye. With far-reaching views across the Aegean Sea, a private pool and a selection of sun-kissed and shaded terraces, it’s the prime place to unwind.

With an idyllic setting, just a three-minute stroll from the long sandy beach of Ganema, this villa with stunning Aegean Sea views is the perfect Greek retreat. A little further afield, the scenic main town of Serifos, home to charming sugar-cubed houses, is around 8 miles away, while Livadi Port and a smattering of seafront restaurants is under a fifteen-minute drive. This small, ruggedly beautiful island is a hidden gem with its steadfast traditions, majestic mountains and pristine, tamarisk-fringed beaches.

You don't have to go anywhere for vistas of golden sands and sparkling azure waters, though. Just take a seat on the terrace or relax in the hammock – our favourite spot at sunset. Sip some tsipouro (your friendly hosts provide a bottle in your welcome hamper) between bites of Greek meze as the day turns to night. Then, spend the evening gazing at a sky full of diamond-like stars. Inside this home, there are beautiful character features, such as stone walls, beamed ceilings, and outlooks to the dreamy seascape. This place is ideal for a family or group of friends who want to get away from it all.

A tranquil 500-year-old hideaway, set in the historic old town's centre overlooking Parikia's main square, this charming apartment is the ideal island bolthole for a couple or a solo traveller looking to explore the picturesque island of Paros. With your helpful hosts on hand, you can toss out the guidebook and simply ask them for those tips and tricks that only locals know about. For an authentic island experience, it doesn't get much better than this.

Tucked away down an alleyway in one of the oldest buildings on the island, the unmistakable blue doors lead into a quaint tiled courtyard with a table and chairs set up for you to enjoy your morning coffee outdoors. When in Greece, it's imperative to sample the local beaches – start off with Agios Sostis, just five minutes away by car, or twenty minutes on foot. This calm expanse is well off the tourist trail, so you won't have to compete for a sunny spot on the sand.

Tinos town is just a ten-minute drive away. Here, you'll have a choice of charming tavernas to choose from, each serving traditional cuisine with fresh local ingredients. Finish the meal with a slice of baklava, then head home to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down.

Andros’ location in the north of the Cyclades islands is perfectly suited for action-packed, island-hopping holidays, as well as beachside bliss. With mountains and valleys, it’s also wonderful for hiking, or can equally offer you a bustling afternoon in its capital – Andros Town.

Set in grounds that were once teeming with agricultural workers, this traditional ‘konaki’ home used to play host to tired farmhands. But that old-time hospitality certainly hasn’t gone away. In fact, it’s simply been brought up to date. For a modern-day version, you've got a secluded courtyard with a swimming pool and hot tub, built from local rock. You might not have been tilling the fields, but you still deserve some relaxation.

Nestled just outside the small town of Otzias, there’s not a lot going on in this quiet corner of Greece, but you’ll have a variety of amenities at your fingertips that will make it difficult to leave this inviting home. Designed to take full advantage of the Mediterranean climate, it features a spacious outdoor entertainment area that wraps around the home. The communal spaces, like the infinity pool, barbecue and cosy seating zones, make it an ideal choice for a large family or group of friends. The Aegean Sea is steps away, but the shoreline is rocky, so you’ll need to drive to a local beach if you want to comfortably swim in the sea.

This apartment is located in the picturesque village of Oia, the most famous village in Santorini. With its traditional narrow streets, blue-domed churches and sun-drenched verandas, Oia offers a serene and beautiful setting for a relaxing retreat. This home is on the small side, but it’s perfect for a romantic break or a solo trip. The private terrace and hot tub overlook the sparkling Aegean Sea, and you really couldn’t ask for a better view. While parking is possible at the entrance of the village, a car isn’t essential as the area is best explored on foot, with Katharos Beach just a 19-minute walk away.

Boasting breathtaking views of the eastern Aegean Sea, with the islands of Naxos, Amorgos and Anafi visible from the comfort of your own bed, this villa offers the very best of Santorini. Located in the village of Imerovigli, you’ll have an array of sleek bars, fine-dining restaurants and sunset viewing spots within close proximity, but if nature’s more your thing, check out the Ekklisia Theoskepasti hiking trail that leads past the ruined, 13th-century Skaros Venetian Fortress. When you return, you’ll have a private pool (with a Jacuzzi bench) and cosy terrace area to enjoy a few drinks.

Built from traditional stone, this kind of building is called ‘Peristerionas’ by the locals, a Greek word for the doves or pigeons who would have nested in the dovecote-style walls. Nest yourself in this home for a comfortable and cosy holiday surrounded by Cycladic nature, and catch the soft aromas of wild thyme, oregano and salty ocean air drifting to you in the breeze. Spend quiet days lounging by the pool with a good book before you take a dip in the cool waters of the pool or even unwind in the soothing bubbles of the jacuzzi.

Spend days beside the sea, treading the soft sands, which can be reached within ten to fifteen minutes by car. Or venture further out to Andros Port twenty-five kilometres away, from which you can admire the amazing Tourlitis Lighthouse. 

In the evening, we would highly recommend dining in one of the tavernas in Korthi Bay, just nine kilometres away, to experience the delicious local and traditional cuisine on offer. Pamper yourself with the organic toiletries before settling in for a great night's sleep on the mattress which is designed to support seven zones of your body, and wake up refreshed the next morning for another blissful day of relaxation.

The Dove & the Olive Branch

Perched on a hilltop within walking distance of Agios Prokopios Beach and a short car ride from Naxos, this room offers a restful stay for a couple or solo traveller. There’s no kitchen here, so you’ll need to head out at mealtimes. Fortunately, there are plenty of tavernas within driving distance of your doorstep. Our favourite feature was the terrace – we couldn’t get enough of the private pool, especially after a nap on the loungers.

Situated just minutes from Magganarni beach, this villa has everything you need for a relaxing break. Widely considered to be the best beach in Ios (if not one of the best beaches in Greece), you can expect exquisite golden sand and crystal clear waters just a stroll away from your own front door. Part of a complex, you’ll have a shared swimming pool and barbecue area to make use of when you aren’t exploring the coastline, as well as a private terrace with plenty of seating. It’s worth noting that Chora, the main village, is 23 kilometres away, so you’ll need a car to get around.

This sleek apartment is within walking distance of the Athens coast, with great sea views. While the minimalist design might not be for everyone, the location is ideal for those who don't want to be in the centre of the city. The outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying a glass of wine at sunset and offers unobstructed views of the Aegean sea. You'll want a car for heading into central Athens, but it's an easy walk to restaurants, cafes, and the sandy Yabanaki beach.

Now that's what we call a view – perfect for catching the sun setting behind the nearby volcanic island over cocktails. Inside, the home boasts plenty of Santorini style, with plenty of curves and vaulted ceilings. Two of the bedrooms are a little on the small side, but we suspect you'll want to spend as much time as possible outside here – the stunning Jacuzzi and terrace area are perfect any hour of the day or night, while the alfresco dining area is an ideal spot for breakfast.
