This monochrome delight in the centre of Thessaloniki first caught our attention with its cool and consistent colour scheme. We especially love the sleek black kitchen, ideal for the budding chefs in the group, and the balcony with its view of the local area. Unfortunately, there isn't enough sofa space for everyone in the living room, but the home's excellent location means you'll have plenty of excuses to head out – you'll find a myriad of parks, museums and restaurants just a short stroll away.

Discover Thessaloniki, a city known for its vibrant arts scene and culinary delights, from this cosy and simple apartment. We think it's ideal for getting to know the city, whether you're travelling for work or leisure. You'll have your own small balcony here – while it overlooks neighbouring buildings and may not feel the most private, there's enough space to enjoy an evening drink and fresh air. At full capacity, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living room, and if you're planning on staying indoors a lot, things might feel a little cramped. There's parking here though, and you'll want a car for exploring the city's attractions and nearby beaches.

Artistic Getaway

Exploring the UNESCO city of Thessaloniki and other Northern Greece gems is a cinch from this pocket-sized studio apartment. You're within easy walking distance of Thessaloniki train station, and there's free street parking right outside. Granted, the kitchenette is small, but it's surprisingly well-equipped. The private balcony for evening drinks is a nice touch too. It's worth noting, though, if three of you share, the last guest will have to make do with a sofa bed –⁠ so privacy and space are lacking here. Expect to pay a small fee for your initial supply of bedding and towels, too.

If this home offers something above all else, it's views. Out front, you can gaze out over the Aegean Sea, while the terrace behind faces out toward the imposing Mount Olympus. But it doesn't just have views – a seven-minute stroll will take you to Fourka beach, while the restaurants and bars of Fourka village are even closer. Back at home, the large garden, while rather empty, is perfect for family football games. Let the kids tire themselves out before bed, and then enjoy the sunset views peacefully from the outdoor seating area.

You'll find this apartment in the heart of Thessaloniki. Restaurants on your doorstep, landmarks within walking distance, the sea only a short stroll away – how's that for a top-notch location? The apartment itself isn't bad, either. We like the jungle themed-design, and although some rooms are a little dated (namely the bathroom), there's a decent amount of space here for families and friends. But our favourite is the small balcony overlooking the street – it's the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee or glass of wine in the salt-tinged air.

A short stroll from the cobbled streets, bars, eateries and shops of Ladadika, this home serves as a practical base for exploring Thessaloniki. With the sleeping arrangements including a sofa bed, we think this home is better suited to families. While the home might be a little cramped at full capacity, the balcony makes for a great spot to spend golden hour, and you've got everything you need here for an extended stay, including a washing machine. Outside, you'll find yourself a short stroll from the shoreline.

Seized at Sea

Situated along the Old Port, this modern pad places you in a prime position for exploring ancient Thessaloniki. Whether you've taken a short drive to the beach or hit the nearby shops, bars and tavernas, there's plenty of room for your group to sprawl out and relax here after a day of exploring. Inside, it's not the most soulful or inspiring space, but it's practical and fully equipped for a fuss-free stay. The kitchenette is suitable for preparing light bites when you're not out sampling the local cuisine. And, you'll have access to a private terrace, which may not offer the best views, though we still think it's a charming spot to enjoy your evening glass of wine. 

Thessaloniki Delight

This modern apartment is a fuss-free base to return to after days spent exploring sun-soaked Thessaloniki. We recommend hiring a car if you want to visit the beach or attractions such as the Church of Saint Paul and the White Tower. You will, however, find restaurants close by, which is handy, as the kitchen here is only suitable for light bites. The home also features a private balcony for enjoying a cup of coffee, and the pared-back bedroom is plenty comfortable.

Inside, while this home may not be the most luxurious in our portfolio, it brings all the rustic charm that you'd hope from a sleepy mountain village abode. Beneath the villa's exposed wooden rafters, bespoke carpentry and statement lighting fuse together for a refreshing touch of modernity. And there's everything you need to rustle up a bite to eat in the compact but well-equipped, modern kitchen.

When it's time for adventure, seek out the hiking trails lacing through the surrounding hillsides. Take an amble into the dreamy village of Agios Geogrios Nilia (seven minutes on foot) for a feast in its traditional tavernas. Or follow the winding mountain roads down through the clouds and chestnut forests to the sandy beaches (half an hour's drive).

Close to the Church of Holy Apostles, this cosy apartment makes for the perfect base for exploring Thessaloniki. Though the kitchenette is small, it does have all of the key appliances needed to whip up a home-cooked meal, though we’d recommend sampling some of the local eateries. Featuring a double bedroom and a single sofa bed, we think this home is best suited to a couple looking for a romantic break or a small family. Paid parking is available close to the apartment, but with so many bus stops close by it’s easy to get around the city on public transport.

Set in a small, exclusive complex that features fifteen acres of grounds, this contemporary home has an incredible view of the Aegean. Sleek and super comfortable, it's the perfect spot if you value your modern luxuries. Here you'll be forever gazing out across the bay, with fabulous views from the terrace, private pool and bedroom balcony – where a glass balustrade and floor-to-ceiling bedroom windows make sure nothing detracts from the vista.

Inside, it's decorated in soft, calming tones, with comfy furnishings and a small, but practical kitchen. Touches of colour come in the form of typically blue Greek tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms. Perfect for a family, the lucky guests staying in the spacious master bedroom will have a stylish in-room wet room with a Jacuzzi shower, too.

Just a seven-minute walk from Fourka village and its beach, this place is in a quiet spot but with easy access to beach bars and tavernas. And at the end of the day, it's a pleasure to come home to a barbecue on the terrace as the sun sets.

Head out to explore and in addition to the small towns nearby, the nearest sandy beach of Paralia Platanidia, boasting crystal-clear waters and picturesque shores, is just twenty-five minutes away by car.

Views don’t get much better than these. This villa is perched on a sloping mountain, with Pagasitikos Bay spanning ahead. It’s a place to truly connect with nature, whether that’s by exploring on a mountain bike, savouring a coffee while taking in the view, or making lunch with your host’s homegrown vegetables and herbs.

A mere forty metres away from the Halkidiki coastline, this pair of sea-facing villas on the same green plot is ready and waiting to be the backdrop of a holiday that lives long in the memories of all lucky enough to be there. 

Both houses share the same contemporary style, with large windows and glass doors letting in plenty of natural light, which is accentuated by the white walls and glossy tile flooring. The furnishings are certainly on the minimalist side of things, but there are some characterful design choices nonetheless, including a bright orange kitchen.

It's not an exaggeration to say that you can rely on the weather to be pretty pleasant around these parts and there are plenty of ways to enjoy this fortuitous climate. Three of the bedrooms in the main villa have a balcony, but for everyone else, the sprawling garden and terraces will be just the ticket.

Add to that the wealth of distractions that lie nearby, including the sparkling waters of the Toronean Gulf a minute's walk from the home. Further down the coastline, the town of Polychrono is only five minutes away in the car, while Mavrobara Turtle Lake takes just over ten.

Start your days here with an iced frappé coffee on the balconies – which can be accessed via any of the three main bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms offer incredible views of the ocean, while the third overlooks the green garden below. 

Then, head straight to the beach or enjoy a few relaxing hours sunbathing on one of the loungers on the lawn. If you’re in need of some shade, why not spend some time in the games room where you can read a good book or get competitive with a board game? Take advantage of the yoga and Pilates classes offered by your host, and unwind as you practise your poses.

Go turtle watching at Mavrobara Turtle Lake – a small lake surrounded by pines, which is home to three separate species of endangered European water turtle – reachable in just eleven minutes by car. Or, go on a water sports adventure which can be reached in just a two-minute walk. 

For mealtimes, there are many shops and restaurants just a three-minute drive away, and we would highly recommend trying the fresh fish dishes on offer including at Azur Sea Food Restaurant, which is a short five-minute walk away. If you’d rather cook at home for the evening, then why not barbecue some delicious souvlaki and enjoy it alfresco with the bottle of wine from your welcome hamper?

Spread over four levels, this spacious villa is ideal for couples or families who want to holiday on the island of Halkidiki. The entrance to the home is on level three – so it may not be a suitable choice for guests with reduced mobility. Although the decor is dated and the kitchen is small, the property is just 50 meters from the sea – and you'll get fantastic mountain views. We love the private outdoor living areas – one has BBQ facilities next to a pine forest, while the other is perfectly placed for catching stunning sunsets. The village of Fourka is 1km away – but we recommend a car for ease if you'd like to explore more of the region.

Located just 250 metres from the beach, you can enjoy strolls across the bridge to make the most of the beautiful coastline. To the front of the house you’ll find a shared swimming pool, while you’ll have a balcony and alfresco dining terrace all to yourself if you want some privacy.

You’re just a few metres from the beach, yet the buzzing coastal towns of Pefkohori and Chaniotis are both a five-minute drive away. A stone path leads across the lawn to the shimmering swimming pool. Two levels of balconies and terraces give you a choice of spots for drinks outside. The bright and open living area is a stylish spot for the group to hang out and each bedroom opens up to a terrace, balcony or patio.

A short drive away from Kallithea sits the tiny village of Afytos. More laid-back than other towns in Halkidiki, it's a great spot for a low-key getaway – and it's where you'll find this pet-friendly apartment. Perched on the cliffs overlooking the sea, the private terrace is ideal for soaking up the sunshine and scenery. The interiors are a little lacklustre and veer towards dated, but the location speaks for itself. Your host is also happy to arrange excursions, boat trips and other fun-filled activities for a fee.
