Life on the farm doesn't get much better than this. Set on the outskirts of Salakos village, in the lush foothills of Mount Prophitis Ilias, it's a high-end villa surrounded by rich agricultural land. Olive groves, walnut trees and nearby glasshouses producing fruit and vegetables make this a slice of rural heaven, and every morning you'll be brought fresh produce, olive oil, eggs and bread from the farm.

Away from it all but just a fifty-minute drive from Rhodes Town, here you'll be able to experience a slower pace of life. Bask on your enormous deck, find a shady spot beneath the palms in your private garden or swim and play all day in your pool. An elegant and charming home, it's been built in the traditional style with plenty of character – think vaulted ceilings, bare stone walls and plenty of natural wood. It sits perfectly in its serene surroundings. 

Our pick of the rooms has to be the main living room here. With its open layout and fabulous high ceilings, there's something quite Hollywood about it. We love the leather sofas, the sleek, black kitchen and the green-framed window walls. But there's much more to explore, with a second living space and three beautiful bedrooms. There's even a home gym if you're feeling like some exercise.

In the evenings, light the barbecue and eat outside under the stars, or head into the village (where you'll find a couple of small eateries) or to the coast at Kamiros Beach for dinner in a seaside taverna. And there's plenty to explore locally too – don't miss a visit to the butterfly valley, the seven springs and a chance to go wine tasting.

It's not all for show, though. If this panorama proves too tempting, head down to the seaside at Paralia Ixia, less than five minutes' drive away. The famous medieval city of Rhodes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, only takes a quarter of an hour to reach in the car, as well.

This trendy villa faces the sea, and you'll soak up glittering views of the Mediterranean from almost every room. Wake up to coastal views from both bedrooms, while in the living space, glass windows ensure you're soaked in sunshine all day. The interior design is decidedly contemporary (think sleek concrete floors) with a touch of Greek heritage, such as in the warm wooden furnishings and ceiling beams. However, we don't think you'll be spending long indoors considering what's waiting for you ouside - an extensive patio area with a swimming pool, sun loungers, and hammocks, all facing the sea. You could easily spend all day here, starting your day with breakfast at the outdoor dining table and finishing with a barbecue as the sun goes down. You can't leave Greece without taking a dip in the Med though, and it's just a short stroll to Lachania Beach. We'd also recommend driving to nearby Gennadi, which hosts beach parties during the summer and is home to quaint Greek tavernas. If history is your calling, it's just a 30-minute drive to Lindos where you can visit the incredible Acropolis. However, we understand if you choose to spend all day on your own patio, lazing on a sun lounger with a book and enjoying drinks as the sunsets.

And of course, when you're done with all that's near you, drive over to Rhodes, a medieval city that's a treasure trove in itself.

Bedrooms are all bright and comfortable, with some opening straight onto the terrace, while one has a mezzanine level and its own seating area.  

Just a twenty-minute drive from Lindos, known for its fabulous restaurants and nightlife, you'll also be a fifteen-minute drive from the windsurfing beach at Prasonisi, with supermarkets even closer. Best of all, you're just a five-minute drive from one of the island's most famous beach bars.

Less than a five-minute drive from the village of Lachania, at the foot of the mountains, there's a choice of eateries and a supermarket within reach, and it's an excellent base from which to explore the south of the island. But with a long, sandy beach and clean swimming water on your doorstep, you may find you have all you need right here.

Inside, a mix of contemporary styling and traditional elements gives this place a timeless feel, with all-white walls and cool, tiled floors. There's an open-plan living area with a well-kitted-out kitchenette and sliding doors opening to the terrace, while the bedrooms are calm and spacious – one leading out to a tiny courtyard. Surrounded by towering trees and out in the quiet hills beyond Rhodes Town, this villa is a shining example of relaxation and calm. The medieval streets and sights of Rhodes Town is 7km away, and a day at the beach awaits just 3km away at Ialisos. 

Though we wouldn’t blame you if you spent all your time at the villa itself. An azure swimming pool sits in the manicured lawn, lined with sun loungers. At night, the trees surrounding the pool are uplit, turning this into a magical space after sunset. A huge selection of kids’ pool and lawn toys lets you know this place is family-friendly, and long lazy lunches can be enjoyed on the balustraded terrace above the pool, shaded from the sun. The chef of the group will love the summer kitchen with its built-in grill. Follow the meandering pathways past flowering bushes and greenery to find the secret hot tub beneath a twisting gazebo. This place is full of surprises.

Set just 150 metres from the beach and with the bustle of Pefkos Village all within walking distance, the location of this charming villa on the eastern coast of Rhodes is spot-on. Inside, the interiors may feel a little pared back for some, but the exposed stonework is a lovely, characterful touch. When you’re not down at the beach, you’ll love the small but beautifully formed pool with views of the sea for a cooling dip and shady terraces beneath the mature olive trees.

Purposely perched on a hilltop so it’s able to bring a blissful view of the sea and rolling hills to you, this home is all about creating an ambient and tranquil space where you can unwind and rejuvenate. 

An excellent way to do that is to climb into the hammock with your favourite novel – spend the morning reading until sleep tugs at your eyelids. Give into it, taking a refreshing nap before waking yourself up with a dip in the clear waters of the private swimming pool. 

Find the loggia around the corner from the pool, where every meal can be an al fresco opportunity. Enjoy meze for lunch and fresh seafood for dinner and spend the rest of the time drinking wine with nibbles.
