Built in 1780, this honey-hued stone villa sits in the quiet village of Ano Manna. In the big, private garden, large pine trees date back to the 1800s and still provide shade and a forest scent to this day. Here you’ll find hammocks strung up between trees, a built-in stone barbecue with its cast-iron cauldron still intact and a kids playground with a climbing wall, swings and a trampoline. A separate stone building is home to the gym, packed with state-of-the-art equipment and a bubbling sunken Jacuzzi for a post-workout soak.

There are two living rooms to choose from – one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. A handful of classic novels and a vintage radio add a nostalgic feel alongside rough painted rockers in the sunny window spot. Thick stone walls in the kitchen are a throwback to yesteryear and you can dine at the rustic farmhouse table inside, or the stone table outside.

When it comes to exploring Syros, it’s a ten-minute drive to the main town of Ermoupoli and seven minutes to the charming beach town of Azolimnos.

Set just a ten-minute stroll from the sheltered bay of Vathi and offering up next-level coastal panoramas from all angles, the setting of this stylish villa is hard to beat. Perfect for a small family, each serene bedroom has a bathroom to speed things along in the morning. Though with that terrace outside for lazy breakfasts in the morning sun, we doubt you’ll be rushing anywhere. Part of an exclusive cluster of villas in a sleepy corner of Tinos, there’s little in the way of local amenities here. Although Pyrgos, the largest village on the island, is just a three-kilometre drive for an evening meal at its charming tavernas.

Relax in the hammock and dine at the outdoor table, and when the heat becomes a little too much, there's a private infinity pool to cool off in. When in Greece, it's imperative to sample the local beaches – start off with Agios Sostis, just five minutes away by car, or twenty minutes on foot. This calm expanse is well off the tourist trail, so you won't have to compete for a sunny spot on the sand.

Tinos town is just a ten-minute drive away. Here, you'll have a choice of charming tavernas to choose from, each serving traditional cuisine with fresh local ingredients. Finish the meal with a slice of baklava, then head home to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun goes down.

The village of Vourkari – just an eight-minute drive away – provides an opportunity for not only beach days but also scuba diving experiences. 

Coressia, the island’s port, is just a twelve-minute drive away, while the capital Ioulis is a twenty-five-minute drive away. In Ioulis you will be able to visit the archaeological museum and even see the Lion of Kea – an impressive early Greek stone monument that dates back to the Archaic period. 

What’s more, there is a regular ferry connection between Athens and Kea which takes about an hour, taking you to the Lavrion port. From here, you can drive about fifty-six minutes to Greece’s capital and explore everything Athens has to offer. 

After all your exploring, return home to the villa in the evening and cook some delicious souvlaki on the barbecue before dining alfresco as you enjoy the sun setting over the vista.

Nestled just outside the small town of Otzias, there’s not a lot going on in this quiet corner of Greece, but you’ll have a variety of amenities at your fingertips that will make it difficult to leave this inviting home. Designed to take full advantage of the Mediterranean climate, it features a spacious outdoor entertainment area that wraps around the home. The communal spaces, like the infinity pool, barbecue and cosy seating zones, make it an ideal choice for a large family or group of friends. With plenty of outdoor seating options, there’s one perfect to every situation – stealing away for a romantic drink overlooking the water, reading with your feet in the sand of your private beach, or playing board games with a drink in hand. 

Inside you’ll glimpse elements of Cycladic architecture throughout the home, especially in the master bedroom, where the fireplace sits proudly. Our favourite feature was the terrace – we couldn’t get enough of the private pool, especially after a nap on the loungers.

Azure Aegean Abode

One of the more modest villas in our collection, this home's excellent location meant that we felt compelled to include it. As you look out at the sparkling Aegean Sea while tending to the barbecue on the terrace or make the sixty-second stroll down to Farangas Beach, you might be inclined to think we made the right choice.

That's not to say the home itself is a compromise in any way. The architecture is traditionally Cycladic in influence, with arched doorways, exposed stonework and wooden ceiling beams. Some of the furnishings are in keeping with this aesthetic, like the weathered coffee table and mirror frame, but there are others, such as the mid-century-inspired chairs in the living room, that add a little more contemporary flair.

As well as the beach almost literally on your doorstep, there are restaurants and a few more seaside spots in the next village over of Aliki, around five minutes' drive away. The island's main town of Parikia takes just under twenty minutes to reach in the car, too.

If you fancy a day on the beach, then Paralia Megali Ammos is the closest – the sandy shoreline is only a four-minute drive away from your front door. The pretty windmills of Mykonos are a similar distance away, which you can visit before strolling through the charming streets of Chora. The island's capital also has plenty of restaurants serving up fresh seafood – feast on the catch of the day before you head to one of the famous bars for a cocktail.

Andros’ location in the north of the Cyclades islands is perfectly suited for action-packed, island-hopping holidays, as well as beachside bliss. With mountains and valleys, it’s also wonderful for hiking, or can equally offer you a bustling afternoon in its capital – Andros Town.

Set in grounds that were once teeming with agricultural workers, this traditional ‘konaki’ home used to play host to tired farmhands. But that old-time hospitality certainly hasn’t gone away. In fact, it’s simply been brought up to date. For a modern-day version, you've got a secluded courtyard with a swimming pool and hot tub, built from local rock. You might not have been tilling the fields, but you still deserve some relaxation. 

Inside its stone walls, traditional interiors make for a cosy, country escape. Rich, timber beams line the ceilings, and rustic wooden furniture sits majestically in the living space. Other quintessentially Greek features include woven decorations and a chunky stone shower – and of course views out to the striking blue sea, which you can admire from the comfort of your private verandah.

In the evening, we would highly recommend dining in one of the tavernas in Korthi Bay, just nine kilometres away, to experience the delicious local and traditional cuisine on offer. Pamper yourself with the organic toiletries before settling in for a great night's sleep on the mattress which is designed to support seven zones of your body, and wake up refreshed the next morning for another blissful day of relaxation.
