Our favourite thing about this sleek, modern villa is the view from the swimming pool. Gazing out over the infinity edge, you can see a handful of green islands floating in the sparkling Adriatic Sea. The big terrace out the front is also home to sun loungers, a dining spot and a glorious sunken Jacuzzi. 

The villa itself feels as though glass boxes have been stacked on top of each other, taking full advantage of that fabulous sea view. Slide open the wall-sized glass doors in the living room to melt the barrier between indoors and outdoors and watch the boats drift by from the comfort of the leather sofas. The huge, dine-in kitchen area is more than big enough to handle the bustle of group breakfasts and the whole open-plan area is bathed in sunlight during the day.

Those that want to keep on top of their fitness schedule can make use of the home’s private gym, and soothe sore muscles in the sauna after. Bedrooms are crisp white and blue, made bright by walls of windows. And the main bedroom has its own private balcony.

This modern and beautiful villa is located in Gornji Proložac, just 6 km from Imotski. The two-story villa was built in 2019 and sits on a private property that is 1,370 m² and fenced. Guests can enjoy a heated swimming pool with an internal staircase and salt-electrolysis pool-cleaning system, a paddling pool, hot tub, and outdoor shower. There is also a pool house with a kitchen and dining table, satellite TV, fridge, WC, and cooking stove. A barbecue and children's playground with a slide and swing are also available for guests to use. The villa has internet access, storage room for bicycles, washing machine, fitness equipment, darts, playstation (all included in the price), safe, iron, children's high chair, baby cot, and hair dryer. The villa has six rooms beautifully furnished rooms that can accommodate up to twelve guests.

This oh-so-contemporary villa, set just a stone's throw from the beach on Korčula Island, had us on the showstopping views of the verdant rolling hillsides alone. But wait until you step inside this stone-clad home and feast your eyes on the sleek, modern interiors.

Newly-built and immaculately presented, the designers have thought of all the creature comforts here. Starting with that free-flowing and light-filled living space – prime for lazy Mediterranean lunchtime feasts and cosy film nights spilled out on that modular sofa. And don't get us started on the outside area with stylish terraces offering glimpses of the sea and a dazzling heated pool at its heart.

When you're ready to dip your toes into island life, flip-flop down to the crystal-clear waters of the pebble bay for a swim (fifty metres away) – the snorkelling is outstanding here, and there's an anchorage if you fancy taking to the sea by boat. Or carry on into the old town's wander-worthy streets, just four kilometres away. Its medieval walls guard a labyrinth of lanes dotted with ancient squares, churches, palaces and bustling konobas for atmospheric evening meals, just like you imagined. Or up the ante with a hike in the mountainous pine forests – the views are worth the climb alone.

The Islanders

Dating back a hundred years, this remarkable villa close to the south coastline of Split is a shining example of how a property's historical character can be preserved in the restoration process.

The home's interior retains an air of grandeur, with antique wooden furnishings, high ceilings and glossy tiled flooring, but there are plenty more modern additions. The bathrooms are ultra-sleek with a couple of large tubs and there's also a gym, sauna and library up on the first floor.

We'd be willing to bet that the swimming pool wasn't there when the home was built in the early twentieth century, but it'll be no less appreciated during the summer months — the same can be said for the Jacuzzi, too. One thing that hasn't changed in the intervening years is just how breathtaking the sea view is from this outdoor space and it makes for a beautiful backdrop as you dine under the pergola.

One thing we really love is the different options that the location offers. Plaža Ježinac sits just around the corner when you fancy a dip in the sea and the Old Town is only twenty minutes away on foot. The forests and walking routes of Marjan Hill are a ten-minute walk away, too.

One Hundred Percent

With enticing views of the Adriatic, you can understand why this villa captured our attention. The best spot for waterfront gazing is the balcony – a glass of wine, optional – but even the kitchen window catches a glimpse of the rolling waves. That sure makes washing up all the more exciting. Sadly, the garden doesn't show off the vistas, but with a private pool, alfresco dining area and children's playground, you'll still be set to worship the Croatian rays. And while the interior isn't nearly as impressive as the panoramas, it's comfortable nonetheless – plus the location is spot-on, walking distance from Pisak beach and village, and only a thirty-minute drive from magical Makarska.
