It’s located in a quiet residential neighbourhood just two minutes from Porta Romana and a short walk from the beautiful Boboli Gardens. You can walk into the centre of Florence in twenty-five minutes. There’s a petite kitchen to cook in – though we recommend discovering the city’s excellent food scene – and a garden where you can unwind between sightseeing, provided you’re happy to share the space with the homeowner’s dog.

This Florence duplex is a short drive from Piazzale Michelangelo, Porta San Niccolò, and Pitti Palace. It’s in a quieter neighbourhood on a hill, so you can unwind after days in the city with a glass of wine overlooking the skyline. The space is modern and elegant, though you’ll need to be prepared to climb some stairs to reach it – keep this in mind when packing. Roomy enough for four guests, it’s worth noting that one will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the upper living room. However, this won’t bother those visiting Florence on a city break, where sightseeing and dining out are the priority.

We love the funky monochrome floors here. Outside, in the stylish, private garden, you'll find sun loungers, as well as a hot tub – perfect for watching the sunset with a glass of Prosecco, then enjoy dinner under the lights of the gazebo. This home has a fantastic location in one of Florence's most sought-after residential areas. Piazzale Michelangelo, a sixteen-minute stroll away, is situated on a hill on the south bank of the Arno River – it has stunning vistas of the city and a bronze replica of Michelangelo's David. Accademia Gallery, which displays the actual statue, as well as Botticelli's Madonna and Child, is a twenty-minute saunter, while the Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti are both under a thirty-minute walk.

Guided by plenty of natural light, guests can flow through the home's primary hallway into the large living area, kitted out kitchen, and separate dining area, before passing through the French doors to admire the greenery from a private balcony. Stepping outdoors and walking north east will take you directly to the historic Ponte Vecchio in fifteen minutes, while across the river you'll find the magnificent Piazza della Signoria and its many shops, museums and restaurants.

In a quiet neighbourhood that Galileo once called home, we think this split-level apartment is out of this world. Warm and inviting, the built-in bookcases and cosy fireplace make for a peaceful spot to rest your legs after a day out and about in Florence. The French doors in the living room show off the tree-lined street, while upstairs, the views overlook the city's medieval walls. While the living room feels rustic and cosy, the kitchen is fully modernised and comes with everything you need to whip up a feast. For a relaxing evening in, we recommend snuggling on the sofa with a glass of wine and an engrossing read, though it will be hard to resist a twilight stroll around the city. Across the river, the famous Duomo is a thirty-five-minute walk, though we think you'll prefer the views from Piazzale Michelangelo, which is just a ten-minute bus ride.

Wow, were the words we uttered when we walked into the living room of this home and saw the stunning views of the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and River Arno. The vistas are even better from the balcony – it's the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and the Florentine skyline. Housed in a beautiful building, this recently renovated, elegant apartment is a lovely place to spend time in with its designer sofa, marble fireplace and gorgeous herringbone patterned wood floors.

If you want to explore what you can see from this home, it's around a thirty-second stroll to Ponte Vecchio, while the Uffizi Gallery is a four-minute walk. It's the same walking distance to Palazzo Pitti, one of Florence's largest architectural monuments. Other attractions nearby include the Strozzi Palace, which is eight minutes on foot. This home is ideal for two couples, a group of friends or a family wanting to be within walking distance of this glorious city's treasures.

The living area is a great place to relax after a busy day in Florence – this room also sleeps guests five and six on a sofa bed. This home is a great find.

It sits along a steep, cobbled street in the heart of Florence's historic centre and boasts proximity to all the main sights on foot. You couldn't ask for a better location, less than a twenty-minute stroll from the Duomo and the famous Piazzale Michelangelo viewpoint and even closer to the Pitti Palace's museums and gardens. 

The interior is warm and inviting, striking the perfect balance between authentic charm and contemporary comfort. We especially love the open-plan living space, primed for relaxation with a compact yet equipped kitchen, a large dining table, a cosy lounge and a majestic fireplace. Perched on the second floor, it feels delightfully peaceful despite its central location and offers beautiful views from its large shuttered windows. After a day of adventure, enjoy a glass of wine while admiring your scenic surroundings before slipping out for your reservation at one of the many eateries nearby.

In an enviable location directly on the River Arno, this home offers ample space and stunning views. We think it’d be very well suited to groups of friends or families, as it has a great social space but individual guests can still have their privacy. You can imagine the main area being used for hosting dinner parties, or just for relaxing on the sofa after a day of exploring. We thought the bathrooms were a little on the small side, but in a home this beautiful in this location, we can look past that.

Found in a 17th-century building only minutes from the Ponte alle Grazie, this modern apartment has some of the best landmarks nearby. Both Palazzo Vecchio and the Basilica of Santa Croce can be found on foot, but the location isn't all this home has to offer. The sleek kitchen is where you can put newly acquired pasta-making skills to use. You'll also find a wine fridge here for stocking the perfect vintage. There's plenty of space, even with four guests sleeping on sofa beds. And the courtyard seating with a vertical garden is a really nice added bonus, especially for sunset drinks.

When we came across this quaint apartment, we did a double-take. While it may be a bit old-school in style, it has lots of charm for a city stay. Set on the third floor, with a private balcony overlooking the rooftops of Florence, there's no lack of character here – that being said, it may feel a little dated in parts. And, while the bedrooms are semi-open, limiting privacy, its location in the historic district makes it a good choice for those keen to be close to the action.

Plenty of the city’s key attractions are also within easy walking distance, including Florence Cathedral and Palazzo Vecchio. Located in an elegant 19th-century building, you can take in the views over one of Florence’s most fashionable shopping streets from the apartment's windows. This home is a great choice for couples, families or friends looking to be surrounded by luxury boutiques and iconic landmarks.

If you love traditional features, this is the home for you – expect terracotta floors, wooden ceilings, a Renaissance courtyard steeped in history, and, of course, large windows that frame the Florentine skyline. Granted, there are a few things to note here. The kitchen is compact, and there are quite a lot of stairs. Still, with vistas as good as this and an impeccable location, we think that's a worthwhile compromise.

In this central location, there's no better spot to explore all Florence has to offer – but pack earplugs if you're a light sleeper!

Heart of the Renaissance

Nestled in the heart of Florence’s historical centre, you’ll find bars, restaurants, and shops aplenty on the doorstep, as well as the city’s oldest market. And with Duomo di Firenze, Boboli Gardens, and Ponte Vecchio all within walking distance, you won’t have to venture far to explore they city’s must-sees. We love the traditional features in this home but the bedroom doesn’t have a door so privacy here is limited. It’s also worth noting that it’s on the third floor, without a lift. If climbing sixty-five steps to the front door isn’t a deal-breaker, we think this place is a great find for a couple or solo traveller seeking a central spot.
