In the green hills of Mugello, this villa offers the peace and tranquillity of the countryside but is just a forty-minute drive from Florence. Head to Italy’s capital of culture to explore the endless collections of the Ufizzi and dine overlooking the Ponte Vecchio. 

The home itself is traditionally stone-built, with the wooden ceilings on show, an old hearth in the dining room and the farm’s well still on display. Sprawling grounds house a swimming pool with a view over the rolling hills beyond, and a rustic-style loggia for outdoor dining – perfect when you're serving something cooked with fresh vegetables straight from the home's veggie patch. The stone-built, wood-fired barbecue is ideal for summer evenings. 

Apart from Tuscan farmhouse tradition, inside you’ll find some vintage touches like a wireless radio from the early 20th century, and antique furnishings. The old kitchen has been preserved with museum-like care (with a traditional bread over that still works), but the modern kitchen is a sleek, professional affair with slate-grey units and a huge island at its core. 

The town of Scarperia e San Piero is a four-minute drive away to stock up on supplies and there’s even a country restaurant just behind this home if you don’t fancy driving.


Gates of Paradise

We can’t imagine a holiday more serene than a stay in a seaside villa. Gifted with rooftop views of a scenic landscape, a pool right by the water (you can see the masts of bright white yachts while swimming laps) and a furnished terrace where you can eat your favourite meals and unwind with a drink or two, it’s all about the outdoor living here. After tucking into dinner under the pergola, you’ll be eager to head up to the roof for a soothing soak in the Jacuzzi. There are lounges all over the house so you can snuggle up on the sofa and watch a classic on Netflix, sit outside in the breeze as you sip some red wine and escape to a cosy living room for some alone time with a good read. When you’re looking for some family fun in the sand, Portoverde Beach is just a fifteen-minute walk from home. 

Iris by the Sea

Tucked into the medieval village of Palazzuolo sul Senio and framed by the Apennine mountains, this villa blends rustic Tuscan charm with modern comfort. Inside, you’ll find exposed brickwork, timber-beamed ceilings, breezy interiors and sleek marble bathrooms. With space for up to 18 guests across the main house and two private apartments, it’s perfect for group getaways, family celebrations or intimate weddings. Outside, there's a tiered garden with a pool, hot tub and a feasting table for long, lazy lunches. And when you’re ready to explore, hiking trails, mountain biking routes and day trips to Florence await.

Apennine Escape

Located in Prato and within easy driving distance of Florence city centre, this villa is a lovely spot for a Tuscan retreat. Now, the exterior is fairly simple, however inside is a marble marvel, with plenty of luxury amenities to enjoy. There are three living rooms here, so there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy downtime and social moments. Plus, with a home gym, equipped with a Technogym wall, exercise bike, rowing machine, and gym balls, as well as a Turkish bath, hydromassage tub and outdoor pool, you’ll have more than enough to keep you busy. And when you fancy exploring the area, you're just an eight-minute drive from the charming old town.

Marble Manor

This stone farmhouse on a countryside estate dating back to the Middle Ages is as Tuscan as it gets. Inside, the interiors are a little fussy in places (as is the traditional Italian way), but you can’t argue with the sense of space the home brings. And wait until you see the views of the rolling Tuscan hillsides from the private pool and countless terraces outside. Location-wise, you’re just a short drive to the village of Vicchio for meals out, and mighty Florence is just a forty-minute journey.

The Camaldolese Way

In the Tuscan hills, nineteen kilometres from Florence and on the outskirts of Sieci, this gorgeous villa has panoramic views of the countryside. Dating back to the Middle Ages, the main house used to be a watchtower. It sits in a quiet, sunny spot on top of a hill, where forest pathways lead to a nearby lake. Inside, open fireplaces and exposed wooden beams give a traditional Italian farmhouse feel. Antiques meet rustic furniture and mod cons, giving this home a unique charm, with ample and comfortable accommodation. We particularly love the large master bathroom. But it's the garden that really steals the show – tumbling down the hill, surrounded by olive groves, meadows and woodland. Its centrepiece, of course, is the pool, but there is a wealth of spaces to eat, rest and play in sun or shade. Spend long afternoons by the water and evenings around the pizza oven, and play a round or two of table tennis as the sun goes down. The annexe on this home has been tastefully converted into a stylish three-storey apartment with its own bedroom, living room and kitchen – but the villa can be booked without it for a party of nine. The railway station and shops are around eight kilometres away, and there is a restaurant about two kilometres from the house.

Tower Of Song

If forest bathing is your thing, this converted riverside mill is just the ticket. Slap bang in the beautiful Tuscan countryside, the abode is surrounded by mature trees, olive groves and rambling woodland trails that lead to a secret waterfall. Inside the main house, there’s a rustic yet refined approach. Expect exposed stone and timber beams with plenty of modern conveniences to ensure your stay as fuss-free as possible. Plus, there’s a private apartment with a bedroom, kitchen and en-suite bathroom – ideal for holidays with extended family or friends. There are village restaurants and shops a short drive away in the Montalbano hills and Florence is only 20 kilometres away, so you can get your culture fix in the morning and be back by the pool in time for an afternoon swim followed by a glass of something chilled on the expansive terrace.

Set in rolling countryside, just a short drive from the city of Pistoia, it's about as charming as it gets. Think staggering scenery, beautiful terraces, stone courtyards and terracotta tiles. The estate is private and pristine, with immaculate lawns, fragrant flowers and a backdrop of gently swaying pine trees. It's out here that we think you'll spend most of your time, by the glorious infinity pool with far-reaching views. Up at the house, you'll step into history, with so many character features it could be used as a setting for a film. There's a grand living space, with a magnificent fireplace and huge dining table, along with a rustic kitchen and a second lounge. But it's the bedrooms that we fell head over heels with – furnished with antiques and with beamed ceilings and shuttered windows, they're simply beautiful. The ground floor bedroom even opens to a covered veranda with a table and chairs, and the master bedroom's ensuite has a Turkish bath where you can enjoy some aromatherapy. Dining outside on the terrace is an all-day affair, with a barbecue for some of the fresh produce you can pick up locally. And in the evening, why not slip into the hot tub as the sun sets. And although it feels secluded, this place is just a forty-minute drive from Lucca and an hour from Florence.
