Housed in a historic building, this apartment is situated in the Riviere Esterne neighbourhood of Padua. While you'll need to take the stairs up to the home's entrance, it has two small balconies – one overlooking the district’s internal canal and another over the Riviera Paleocapa. If you need to catch up on work, there’s a study area here too, but we bet you’d prefer to explore this cultural city. Known for its frescoes such as those in the Scrovegni Chapel, there’s plenty to see. The iconic Specola is a five-minute walk, while an eight-minute stroll will take you to Piazza Duomo and the centre of this university town is ten minutes on foot.

Housed in an elegant building in the Piazza Duomo in Desenzano del Garda, this home has a fabulous setting. The apartment is located just 50 metres from Lake Garda and the many shops, bars and restaurants. It's just 150 metres from one of the lake's sandy beaches too.

Back at this apartment, relax on the balcony off the main bedroom with a glass of wine. Inside, we love the feature ornate fireplace in the open plan living space, but the real highlight here is the beautiful view of the city's cathedral from the main bedroom window (this room also has vibrant botanical wallpaper).

Later, if you don't fancy eating out, rustle up some risotto con la tinca (rice with fish and chard) in the modern kitchen and enjoy the fruits of your labour at your dining table. After a busy day, get ready for bed in the marble-clad bathroom with its large shower and then get some rest.

Come sun or snow, this charming timber retreat offers the perfect mountain getaway high in the Italian Alps. Located on the ground floor of a traditional alpine building in Livigno, the apartment is designed to be as flexible as possible, with a sleeping arrangement that's sure to suit.

Up to four people can be comfortably accommodated here, with two of the guests choosing between either a double sofa bed or two pull-down bunk beds that emerge from the wall, with two further guests in the tranquil main bedroom.

A compact kitchen contains everything you might need to whip up apres-ski sustenance sat around the dining table before exploring the traffic-free streets in the centre of the resort, a couple of kilometres up the road – with a free ski bus linking the town. Interestingly, the area has held duty-free status since the 16th century, meaning your money goes that bit further.

The area is fast establishing itself as one of the most exciting resorts in Italy and is set to host some of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Easily accessible slopes for all levels of snow sports enthusiast make Livigno a fun option for families and mixed-ability groups.

Centuries-old, this farmhouse located in the heart of the Euganean Hills National Park is steeped in history. Owned by the noble Papafava dei Carraresi family since the thirteenth century, the home entwines its charming rural setting with hundreds of years of family history to create a unique space that is sure to captivate the curiosity of its guests. 

Across the property, you'll find numerous different seating areas designed around the arts of relaxation and socialising. The space is idyllic for those in larger groups or celebrating special occasions such as family reunions, birthdays and weddings.

When the sun comes out, there's no better place to soak up some vitamin D than from around the garden's elegant swimming pool. Perch in one of the recliner chairs under the sun umbrellas with a book in hand, before going for a stroll around the herb and flower gardens that surround the villa. 

Located in a private park spreading over 300 acres of rolling hills and green meadows, the home rests at the foot of the Euganean Hills National Park – meaning country strolls or bike rides (with bikes provided by the host) in the local vicinity are simply a must. Whip up breakfast in the elegant stone-tiled kitchen then plan how to spend your day. We could easily spend hours in the rooftop pool, lazily floating in the sunshine with a backdrop of exquisite scenery. 

After you’ve dried off in the sun, head into the historic centre of Padenghe and enjoy lunch in a trattoria. Wander the streets with a gelato, or call into cafes for coffee and watch the world go by – there’s no need to rush, you’re in Italy after all. The jewel in Padenghe’s crown is undoubtedly the castle; whether you’re a history buff or you’re just in it for the views of Garda, it’s well worth strolling five minutes up the hill to explore. Further afield, beautiful Sirmione is less than ten miles away. 

However you spend your stay, make sure you spend at least one evening on the terrace with a glass of something local, watching the sun set slowly over the lake. If you’re anything like us, you’d kick yourself for missing it.

Spoiler alert – you’ve got far-reaching views of the slopes and Alpine ski runs from the breakfast table of this chic apartment, so you know exactly what’s in store each day. It’s on the outskirts of Livigno where gondolas and ski lifts await to whisk you up the mountainside. A heated ski locker can keep your ski boots and salopettes warm and dry, ready for another day on the powder. In summer, the hiking trails up into the Alps reward with stunning views and you can fuel up for big walks with a view of an Alpine meadow, thanks to a stone-built barbecue and dining area in the vast garden. Even in winter, the first-floor balcony catches the sunshine – perfect for toasting the mountains with a sundowner. 

Heading inside, the first thing that caught our attention was the picture-frame window by the dining table, framing the mountain view like a work of art. The sitting room is tucked in a cosy little wood-clad corner for that cabin-chic feel and long windows let the sunlight stream in. A sleek black kitchen hides everything you need for apres-ski meals and morning coffees before the slopes. Bedrooms are tucked beneath wooden ceilings across both floors and the added bonus is the steam room for sore muscles.

The Italian Alps offer charm and excitement throughout both summer and winter. While ski resorts like Livigno have enough excellent terrain to draw the snowsports crowds, a relaxing stay in lush mountain scenery wouldn’t go amiss in warmer months. In a similar way, this home allows you to experience both sides of the region.

Just a five-minute walk from the nearest ski lift, this studio apartment is more than handy for skiers and snowboarders. But as the sun beats down in the heat of July, it’s equally wonderful for picturesque bike rides (courtesy of your host). Either way, you’ll be in need of relaxation afterwards – that’s where the sauna comes in.

Beyond the wooden porch and pine interiors of this modern building, the luxe spa sits on its own floor. With beanbags and a chill-out area next to the glass door to the sauna, you’ve got plenty of space to kick back if it gets too hot.

As soon as you approach this lovely home's building, you're greeted with a beautiful pond with a fountain and colourful fish – we felt an air of calm straight away. The garden has an even bigger pond – the shared swimming pool is perfect for cooling off in the Italian heat or simply relax with a book on the lounger.

Inside the apartment, there are characterful exposed beams and terracotta tiled floors. Another stand-out feature of this home is the main bathroom which has Swarovski crystals set in the furniture and on the washbasin – we do love a bit of bling.

Situated a few steps from Spiaggia D'oro and the centre of Desenzano del Garda, it has a fabulous location. If you have kids with you, there's a playground 50 metres away too.

Tucked away on the first floor of an elegant building that dates back to the 1800s, this apartment is a very comfortable base in Verona. It’s in the historic district of Veronetta, a lively area full of artisan workshops. You’ll be within easy walking distance of all the sights – Juliet’s house is just six minutes away, and Verona Arena is twelve minutes away.

Sharing its outdoor pool with just one other apartment, this modern home sits in large gardens, in a quiet spot overlooking the rolling hills – the blue of Lake Garda just visible across the trees.
