This unique home offers an unparalleled escape to a private island in Tuscany, where the sea sparkles and time slows. Once a lighthouse, it's been beautifully restored, blending historic character with effortless luxury. You’ll step into a bright living room with cosy seating, a library of lighthouse tales, and a spiral staircase leading to the terrace. Here, the en-suite bedrooms open onto a private space with parasols and loungers. The on-site chef curates every meal with fresh local produce, allowing you to truly kick back and relax. Days are made for basking in the sun, soaking in the hot spring tub, paddleboarding, snorkelling, or quiet reflection under the stars. To reach the island, you'll need to purchase a dinghy or helicopter taxi service, but it's absolutely worth it for the seclusion, beauty, and unforgettable experience.

Lighthouse Island

Perched right on the shores of Maronti Beach, the location of this villa is hard to beat. Everything is just a short stroll away – local trattorias, the ancient Roman thermal springs of Cava Scura, and the Aphrodite Thermal Park. That said, the villa itself will be hard to leave. Homely interiors pair colourful tiles with whitewashed walls, with the bedrooms divided between the main house and a detached guest suite. But the real showstopper? The outdoor spaces – tiered terraces for dining and lounging, and a pool that melts into the horizon. There’s a little garden too, complete with a ping pong table and shady corners for afternoon dozing. 

Ischian Dreams

Housed in a residential building, this sleek room offers a convenient hotel alternative for solo travellers or couples, equipped with everything needed for a fuss-free stay. Location-wise, you're in the heart of Sorrento, just a short walk from the beach. You'll also be within easy reach of the port, with restaurants and bars on your doorstep – handy, as this pad doesn't come with a kitchen. The interiors are a little basic for our liking, but it's modern and there's a dedicated workspace. Plus, the freestanding tub is the perfect place to relax after busy days spent travelling. 

Sunset Sorrento

The panoramic views over Lake Orta through the arches of this apartment’s private balcony are stunning. From here you can see the island of San Giulio and the village of Ronco. There are plenty of places to relax within the communal grounds, too, including the outdoor pool, as well as a lakefront Jacuzzi and a spa. And we love that there’s access to a private beach too. Housed in an eighteenth-century residence, you can enjoy the vistas from the impressive open-plan living space as well. Another highlight is the large en-suite with its multifunctional shower cabin complete with a steam bath and chromotherapy. If you can ever tear yourself away, then let your host arrange a private boat tour.

The Majestic Realm

This collection of three apartments in Como is perfect for a group of friends or a large family travelling together. Four guests can be accommodated in each apartment, with two guests on a sofa bed in the living space. There’s a kitchen in each apartment, though with such a central location, you’ll have plenty of restaurants to choose from nearby. The shores of Lake Como are a ten-minute walk away, as is the cathedral. Your host can arrange all kinds of luxurious extras to make your stay all the more memorable, from boat charters to personal shoppers. 

Como Together

Views of Northern Italy's peaceful Lake Maggiore don't come much better than this. It's a scene best admired from the private balcony of this smart townhouse perched on the hillsides overlooking the Borromeo's islands. Inside, the newly refurbished, pared-back interiors are perfect for a fuss-free stay for two, and the pretty suntrap garden to soak up the Italian sunshine is a nice touch. You'll need a car here as it's pretty remote with no amenities to walk to – but don't let that put you off. Stresa's regal seafront promenade and cobbled streets bustling with trattorias are just a five-minute drive away.

Borromeo

Floor-to-ceiling black-framed windows and a sensitive renovation have turned this 16th-century Umbrian dovecote tower into one of the region's smartest stays. Behind the stone tower, the jagged cliffs and town of Orvieto loom, while in front, the rolling hills stretch before you. Interiors meld old with new. Flagstone floors and antique furniture sit alongside steel ceiling pipes and geometric prints. As one would expect in a tower, there are several spiralling staircases – as well as gawp-worthy views. Push open the sliding doors in the grey, country-style kitchen and step out onto the terrace. A built-in barbecue and wrought-iron table overlook the Italian countryside, while a large vegetable garden and fruit trees provide the freshest ingredients. Continue down to find 1.5 hectares of garden with Etruscan origin and the swimming pool, which was once an agricultural fountain. Forget about any form of work, now all you have to worry about is which spot to pick around the water, with the rush of the nearby brook providing background music.

On A Wing & Prayer

This ground-floor hideaway is part of a beautifully restored Italian farmhouse. Designed with natural materials, it’s a cosy yet stylish base for couples or solo travellers. Our favourite spot? The private garden terrace, shaded by a wisteria-draped pergolas – perfect for tucking into breakfasts in the fresh air or enjoying an evening aperitivo as the sun sets. And with Bogogno Golf Club next door, Lago Maggiore a short drive away, and Malpensa Airport under 30 minutes, it’s a practical base to be at too.

House Of Olive

Surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Valpolicella, this home makes the perfect setting for an adults only escape. Slow down and savour blissful days by the communal swimming pool. There’s also a peaceful terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining. Inside, the rooms have been thoughtfully designed to inspire instant relaxation. There’s plenty of space for socialising and all of the bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms for optimum privacy. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just a short drive to Lake Garda and Verona. Plus, the Adige River is just a short walk away. 

River of Grace

Indulge in a romantic getaway for two in this peaceful little spot on the edge of Lake Orta. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake from both the living room and bedroom, where the decor and furnishings are warm and inviting. We love the wide-open bathroom, which features a large walk-in shower and even comes with two massage chairs – perfect after a day on your feet. The best part? The added perks – access to the resort's private beach on the lake, an on-site wellness spa, a shared hot tub, plus much more. This is restful lakeside living at its finest.

Romance in Lake Orta

Designed and decorated with pure romance in mind, this spacious apartment is the ideal spot for a getaway for two. Love will be in the air as soon as you step inside, where you’ll be greeted by six lakefront windows, original 18th-century frescoes and Venetian mosaic floors – all adding a historic grandeur and elegance to the space. A king-sized bedroom with a beamed ceiling overlooks a portico framed by arcades and granite columns. With the option to set the entire place up for the perfect marriage proposal, including a candlelit dinner, a photographer and more, this gorgeous home is the perfect place for a life-changing stay. There's also a shared pool, Jacuzzi, in-house spa, and a lakefront beach – we're sold.
