Between the baroque buildings of San Miguel de Allende’s historic core, stepping into this home is to leave the world behind. Set around the tranquillity of a courtyard, where a fountain trickles away in the centre and walls are alive with botanica, the tangerine walls of this building hide myriad surprises. 

Perhaps the most striking surprise is the hot tub on the terrace, looking into the trees. There’s a barbecue area outside, with pretty mosaic tables, a gas grill for cooking and an azulejo-tiled bar for a batch of margaritas. 

Or, head inside and cook in the beautiful kitchen instead. A range-style cooker sits beneath an old flue, with a pretty blue and yellow mosaic backdrop. Stained-glass windows create a serving hatch between the kitchen and dining room. The grand lounge is illuminated by candelabra, suspended from the vaulted brick ceiling. Light a fire in the grate to keep things cosy on cooler evenings. Heading up to bed, you’ll find hotel-suite-style bedrooms and the master has its own fireplace and balcony.

It only takes five minutes to drive to the town of Tulum and nine minutes to reach Tulum Beach. Swim in the crystal clear sea in the morning before meandering around the town in the afternoon. History-buffs will enjoy exploring the Mayan ruins, which are a short drive away. There’s something for everyone here.

Tulum's prettiest beaches are only a five-minute drive away, making this apartment an excellent choice for a coastal escape. Part of a chic residential complex, you'll also have access to a shared swimming pool, communal gym, and collective garden – not to mention 24/7 support from your attentive hosts. The private balcony is a nice touch – although it's slightly overlooked by neighbours – and the bedrooms are equal parts comfortable and stylish. And while there isn't a desk for digital nomads, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace just fine.

This enthralling haven features five magnificently appointed bedrooms each boasting its own en suite bathroom. For added convenience, there are additional two service rooms. The generously proportioned master suite offers a king-size bed, while other rooms offer a flexibility of sleeping configuration such as bunk beds and other queen or king size beds. The design throughout mirrors a blend of modern comfort with time-honored charm. A classic touch is evident in each corner, providing an intimate ambiance. Bravo's Royal Haven

In the heart of Isla Mujeres, this villa boasts gorgeous sea views from almost every area.
