On the patio, your seating area is particularly lovely for a good breakfast spread in the morning. You can buy fresh bread from reception to rustle up some delicious breakfast sandwiches. When you want to get out and explore, one of the best ways to do so is by bike. You can hire bicycles and electric bikes from the friendly reception team – there are over 140km of tranquil cycling lanes to explore, stopping off at quaint cafes along the way. 

The vibrant town of De Koog is a must-see while you're here, and at just fifteen minutes by foot, getting to know this vibrant port town is easy. Pop into boutique shops, try out the local food, and take advantage of the town's buzzing nightlife. 

Cast a Light

This home on the Dutch island of Texel is a haven for larger groups. Just a stone's throw away from the beach, it's ideal for families or friends who want to unwind and spend some quality time together.

Nature lovers will be in heaven, as the Ecomare aquarium is a ten-minute drive away, as is Texel's zoo, and there are plenty of spots for birdwatching. And, you can't beat exploring by bike – there is over 140km of cycle paths guiding you through this unique island. 

Texel Retreat

Tucked away in Texel’s bustling De Koog – the only village on the island to lie directly on the beach – this chalet-style home is the perfect base for your next coastal getaway. Little ones in particular will be enamoured with the garden here, especially on sunny days when they’ll be able to run around to their hearts’ content. Join them and a couple of furry friends outside for an alfresco meal or stay indoors and warm your feet on the underfloor heating as you savour a pint of locally made beer. Proost!

Of course, it’s the location that’s the standout here, just a short walk from the white sands of Texel’s sprawling beach. On the edge of the forest, with the nearest beach just a stroll away, it's spacious and smart – with enough room for a large group or an extended family. 

Inside, it's modern and stylish, with a sociable layout and a pair of sliding doors to the garden. A well-equipped kitchen and comfy sofas add to the home-from-home feeling. Set in flat, private gardens, children can play outside while you serve up meals on the terrace, or head to the nearby playground on the way to the on-site restaurant. 

And days out won't be a struggle, with Texel Zoo, the Ecomare nature museum and numerous beaches within a half-hour drive. Drive just five minutes to the village of De Koog for more to do in the evenings.

It's surrounded by idyllic cycling and hiking trails, all of them blessed with gorgeous views of the undulating scenery. Whether you like to explore on two wheels or two feet, you'll feel energised at all times. 

For the days where you're having a day off the exercise, visit the cute and cosy cafes, restaurants and shops dotted around the town centre. Quintessentially Dutch menus and international dishes are on offer, complemented by local beers. 

Instead of eating out, the stylish kitchen and open-plan living space is the perfect social setting for meal times. Rustle up some food and share it on the deluxe, wooden dining table. When the weather is on your side, you can mosey out to the terrace to enjoy your food in the fresh air. 

Dutch Courage

Make the most of this home's wonderful location and go for a walk in the forests on your doorstep or explore the National Park Dunes of Texel, 1.5 kilometres away. The centre of the popular seaside resort de Koog and beach club Paal 17 are about 2 kilometres away too, while the children's swimming paradise Caluna, Ecomare, the Shipwreck and Beachcomber's Museum Flora are a stone's throw away. Or go horseback riding at one of the many riding stables in the area – there's something for the whole family here.

Back at this stylish, modern home, relax in the garden with a glass of wine, then whip up some Hollandse nieuwe haring (soused herring) in the kitchen and enjoy them at your dining table, indoors or out. We love the natural light that floods through the large windows here, creating a lovely place to spend time in.


The Dunes of Texel 

This sleek home is situated close by to the coastal bay of Texel, with a verdant garden that's perfect for family fun outdoors no matter the time of day. Create a homemade picnic in the contemporary monochrome kitchen for an afternoon under the sun in the garden, while the children play. If the weather isn't on your side, there's a lovely dining table indoors for families to spend some quality time together while you tuck into some good grub. The sun-drenched living room is a great spot for socialising and unwinding as you watch a movie with your little ones. 

Positioned nearby to the lush De Koog forest, hikers will enjoy exploring the island thanks to the fantastic range of hiking trails that offer beautiful sights and sounds of the coast. Make sure you bring along a bike for the opportunity to cycle through Texel, with plenty of lanes that are suitable for cyclists. Spend the day at the beach with your family, listening to the hum of the ocean with some delicious ice cream.

During the evenings, the terrace is the place to be. Put your feet up as the amber glow shines in the sky with a glass of red in one hand, and a book in the other. This is your time to relish in the peaceful hours of the day, as the island goes to sleep and the tide comes in.

Head up the characterful winding staircase to find two plush bedrooms, with a further bedroom located on the ground floor. The soft, luxurious beds guarantee a night of sweet dreams – wake up restored and enjoy some freshly-brewed coffee out on the terrace. 

When you’re ready to explore this magical island you’ll find an abundance of beautiful sights to visit, with numerous hiking and cycling trails, nature reserves and the Ecomare nature museum, which features an aquarium and wildlife sanctuary for seals and birds. 

Island Retreat 

This wonderful home in a tranquil holiday park is the ideal place to spend a few days away with your loved ones. Just a fifteen-minute walk away from De Koog's golden beach, it's a wonderful spot where you can really relax and get back to nature. 

Step inside, and you'll find a sophisticated living space with a subdued colour scheme and huge windows that flood the space with natural light. When you get hungry, you can whip up your favourite dishes in the smart kitchen, and eat alfresco on the patio if the sun is shining. And, you'll even have your very own sauna, so you can soothe tired muscles after a long day of exploring. 

You'll probably want to spend much of your time at the beach, but there are plenty of other activities on offer to keep you and your guests entertained. Animal lovers will be delighted that the Ecomare aquarium is a ten-minute drive away, as is Texel's zoo. And, if you fancy a round of golf, then the local course is only a twelve-minute car ride away. 

Peaceful Park

Walk down the path to the greenest lawn you've ever seen and step inside this comfortable, modern home. Inside, you'll find a sophisticated living area splashed with greens and turquoise, offering joy to the home, as well as a contemporary kitchen ready for you to enjoy cooking up meals before relaxing on the plush sofa to watch TV. Open the sliding doors to the garden, where you can sip a drink and even relax on a sun lounger in the summer sun. Back inside, we admire the spiralling black staircase that goes upstairs to the calming bedrooms – and what's even better is that you can take a respite in the sauna from the comfort of your own bedroom.

This home is directly in the forest and the National Park Dunes of Texel, so enjoy a bike ride through the dunes on the west side of Texel where you will be astounded by the variety of scenery. With so much water around you, participate in various water activities such as kite-surfing on Texel's huge waves. After a busy day of exploring, return home to watch the sunset with cheer in sight.


A Cup of Teal

For a laid-back holiday with the family, this is a great choice. This lovely bungalow is right at the heart of De Cocksdorp, yet the garden overlooks the countryside so it feels like a little retreat. 

In the morning, you can stroll less than one minute to the bakery next door for fresh bread and pastries. Sit out on the terrace if it’s sunny, tucking into the freshest of breakfasts while breathing in the fresh air. Texel is a marvellous island with nature reserves, countryside and the coast. It’s best explored on foot or by bike – and you can rent bikes from just down the street.

Perhaps you’ll head straight for the beach, which is eight minutes away by bike. Walk along the shore, skimming stones and paddling, before popping to a cosy cafe for lunch. For hiking, you might visit De Slufter, which is twelve minutes away by bike. Leave your bikes and explore the nature reserve on foot, seeing which birds you can spot. Nature-lovers are sure to enjoy a visit to Ecomare, the seal sanctuary – it’s always popular with children, too. 

After busy days spent outside, you’ll be glad to have such a cosy home from home to return to. Curl up in the living room playing board games and making happy family memories.
