This lovely modern apartment overlooking the picturesque marina is an ideal place to base yourself while you’re visiting the Hague area. A perfect pad for a small family or an intimate group of friends, this home offers all the comforts to make your stay a relaxed and restful one. 

The inside is bathed in plenty of natural light flooding in through the large floor-to-ceiling windows, with lovely sea views outside. We love the cosy and warm vibe of the open-plan living room, where you’ll be able to kick back and relax on the comfy sofa – why not enjoy a movie night or a delicious meal at the elegant dining table. The sparkling and well-equipped kitchen will make rustling up quick and tasty treats a work of moments. 

Come nighttime you’ll get a good night’s rest in the plush bedroom – and although at full capacity two guests will be sharing the sofa bed in the living area, the place has enough space for it to never feel cramped. Wake up and greet a new day with a cup of coffee with a view over the marina. 

Outside your front door, you’ll find yourself in an ideal spot for exploring the nearby attractions of the Hague, including the miniature city of Madurodam, the Museon science museum and the Peace Palace. If you prefer an idyllic day of sunbathing and sea dipping, your nearest beach is a mere twenty-minute walk away. 

The Peace Marina 

A lakeside break is on offer at the wood-clad farmhouse just outside the town of Bruinisse. It sits right on the riverside where you can spot ducks and the odd great crested grebe. On Grevelingen lake, a short walk away, you can even see a colony of flamingos in the winter months. The patio, furnished with an outdoor dining table, faces the river and a huge stretch of lawn provides a pitch for ball games in the sun. Although it looks traditional on the outside, inside this home is a haven of modernity. The open-plan living area is a social space with light wood floors and stone-grey sofas to unwind on at the end of the day. Bedrooms are sunny spaces and the ground floor room has direct access to a patio via glass doors.

You’re within an exclusive holiday resort here. Exploring the grounds, you’ll find an indoor swimming pool for all seasons with flumes and slides for the kids. Walking trails lead past the river and there’s a kids club with entertainment to keep little ones occupied. A short drive away, the lakeside town of Bruinisse offers boat trips from the pier and has a healthy crop of restaurants and cafés. 

Wanderer's Rest

Situated on a beach resort surrounded by hundreds of acres of the De Punt nature reserve’s beautiful and unspoilt scenery, and positioned on the sand dunes right beside the bay, this villa is the perfect destination for relaxing coastal holidays. The resort here offers its own private beach with cabanas and lounge beds – reachable in a short one-minute walk – so after a lazy breakfast on the decking, head down to the sands.

Head to Brouwersdam, an estuary that separates the biggest saltwater lake in Europe from the North Sea – a six-minute drive away – and take in the unique flora and fauna on offer here including, Fjord horse and Heck cattle. You might even catch a glimpse of seals or porpoises.

In the evening, why not cook up the fresh fish you caught earlier that day and dine alfresco with views of the beachfront? Or, head to the on-site restaurant for a meal. 

The Hourglass of Sands

Fun-filled family days are in store at this traditional-style farmhouse in the Dutch countryside. It sits within an exclusive holiday resort, near the lakeside town of Bruinisse. Guests here have access to a huge shared indoor pool with slides and flumes, and there’s a kids’ club to keep little ones entertained. Strand Noordwijk Aan Zee, a long, sandy beach, is only a few minutes away from the home on foot. There you can go for long coastal walks, relax on the sand, or even take a dip if you're feeling brave. Golfers can practice their swing on the local course, just a five-minute drive away, and keen cyclists can head inland to explore the surrounding countryside.
