This home in the Turku Archipelago is on Finland’s west coast, and is built in the traditional Finnish style. On a quiet residential road, you’ll have use of your own pier and rowing boat, with a larger beach just a short stroll down the street. Visitors in the summer will be able to make the most of the home’s well-tended garden, complete with a fire pit, children’s play area, and even a fish cleaning area. This region is well known for its fishing, and those keen to catch their own dinner will be delighted by the prospects available here. If you’re unsure where to start, there are fishing guides available in the vicinity who can show the ropes. The home itself is large and comfortable, designed to be used by families, with plenty of space and simple, modern furnishings. If you’re after the typical Finnish experience, then you’ll be glad to hear this home also includes a sauna.

Archipelago Drift

For a peaceful summer holiday in Kasnäs where you can totally switch off, this home is Finnish perfection. There's a few other cabins around, but you're largely remote living. Surrounded by nature, you're practically on the lake, and have all the comforts of a contemporary home. You might expect lakeside living to be rustic, but the slatted white walls mixed with moody dark furniture and sporadic plants give living here a Scandi-chic element. Start your days with coffee on the private porch against the crisp air, before heading to the communal wood heated sauna and lounge by the lake. You can rent a boat and explore the area on water, while the shared barbecue area is the perfect place to meet like-minded travellers and soak in the island atmosphere over some dinner. Then settle in for the night, snug in your lakeside home. 

Lakeside Lakka

Pamper yourself at this two-storey apartment, complete with a private sauna and spa. You'll have access to a communal gym and terrace here, with space to share alfresco drinks and lovely views of the Baltic Sea. This home is situated in a historical Jungmann building, along with a variety of shops, markets, and restaurants, making it easy to indulge in local cuisine and culture. For exploring the surrounding area, Helsinki Central Station is close by, and hotspots like Market Square, Helsinki Cathedral and the Presidential Palace are just steps away.

Helsinki Nights

Sitting close to the coastline on one of the approximately 24,000 islands in the Stockholm Archipelago, this address benefits from not only a private dock, but also a motor boat you can borrow to explore your surroundings a little further. Alternatively, if you're more than content to sit and admire it from afar, there are alfresco tables in the pretty garden from which to dine and gaze out at peaceful waters.

This being Scandinavia, there are certain points in the year in which you'll simply want to coop up inside and it's more than possible to get toasty and warm here. Not only are there wood-burning fireplaces dotted about the communal spaces, but there's also one in the spa-style bathroom, complete with a tub and relaxation area. We're also particularly fond of the homely design throughout, from the rustic kitchens and bright living spaces to the soft rugs underfoot.

Part of the beauty of this address is its sense of isolation and privacy, although this does mean you'll have to hop in the car and potentially on a ferry for restaurants and attractions. That being said, the host can arrange for a private chef to visit the home, which makes life easier somewhat.



Where the Magic Happens

This cosy Lapland apartment offers unparalleled access to the fresh powder at Levi, one of Finland’s most popular ski resorts. Have a steaming cup of coffee on your balcony, and when you’re ready to hit the slopes yourself they’re a short walk away. After a day of adventures, soothe your muscles in the in-house sauna, before whipping up a comforting meal in the sleek kitchen. In the evening, snuggle up with your family on the couch in front of the fire for a movie night. Or head back out to the balcony with a glass of wine, and take in views of the lush forests for which the land of the midnight sun is famous, and keep a look out for the northern lights.

Powder Fresh

Leaving this cabin after your winter vacation is over, you’ll be eager for the cold weather to return so you can make your way back here. The slopes at Rukatunturi and Oulanka National Park’s trails are just a short trip away but you’re likely to spend most of your time at home chilling with family, relaxing in the sauna, soaking in the whirlpool bath and enjoying the ambience of staying in such a rustic, yet modern home. Make breakfast in the fully-equipped kitchen and tuck into your meal on the log table. When you feel like a camping experience, sit outside in the cooking tent, whip up your best dishes and turn dinnertime into a merry and memorable occasion. Thanks to the fireplace, the living area is always warm, so watching the next episode of your favourite series with appetisers and drinks is bound to be a daily occurrence.

Bear Cub

Take a step away from daily life and retreat to the pastoral charms of the Finnish Lakeland. Rain or shine, snow or sun, you will find plenty to do and see here in all seasons. In the summer, spend your days by the waters of Tahkolahti Bay and Lake Syväri. The surrounding area features rolling hills and lush forests, providing plenty of options for hiking, fishing trips and meditative countryside walks. In the winter, you are just a short distance from the fourth-largest ski resort in Finland, as well as scenic cross-country skiing routes. After a day spent in the great outdoors, retreat to this picture-perfect log cabin, with its abundance of wood, Nordic touches and our favourite feature, the traditional stone-faced wood fireplace. After active adventures, we can think of nothing better than relaxing tired muscles in the Finnish sauna before cooking up a hearty meal to eat in front of the crackling log fire – before long, all worries will be a thing of the past.

Lake Breeze

There’s a quiet beauty about Finland’s archipelago in the Baltic Sea. The largest collection of islands in the world (there are more than 20,000), a stay here guarantees an unhurried lifestyle by the lapping waves. And you’ll certainly get the chance to relax and recharge at this cute lakeside cabin in Kasnäs. Set right at the water’s edge with its own jetty, this home looks rustic and simple (bar the distinctive slick of red paint) from the outside. But inside you’ll find a contemporary space that looks more like it’s jumped out of the pages of an interior design magazine. We love the soft grey walls, the wood-and-metal furniture, the lush houseplants and bold geometric print soft furnishings. The open-plan living/dining space is particularly calming; it's flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows, which also give you wonderful views across the lake. Outside you’re lucky enough to have access to your own waterfront terrace, a semi-private beach, a shared barbecue pit and a sauna right by the lake. Here you only need concern yourself with the simple things. Where to go for dinner, what time to go for a swim and what drink to pour when six o'clock rolls around. Bliss.

Little Red On The Jetty

Situated in the heart of Helsinki, this stylish studio is in a historical Jungmann building with an array of facilities. You'll have access to a communal gym and there are shops and restaurants downstairs to ensure you have everything you need, from the essentials to fantastic local cuisine. The room itself is cosy with a kitchenette – while you won't be cooking up large feasts, you'll be well-equipped to experiment with some Finnish recipes. We think this room makes a great base for working remotely or for simple city breaks, with Helsinki's cathedral and public transport within easy walking distance.

On a White Field

Explore Helsinki from this Jungmann building for a stay that's climate-neutral and fully carbon offset. The tram lines are right outside so you can access the city centre with ease, and in the building itself you'll find shops, restaurants, and even a communal gym. Kids will love the custom bunk beds, and the kitchen is well-equipped for experimenting and cooking up something the whole family will enjoy. Storage and space are tight here so you'll want to pack light, but for a stylish and comfortable break in a lively historical building with a central location, look no further.

Nordic Blue Blend

There are more bears and reindeer than residents in Salla, so it’s no wonder the Finnish government plan to turn this area into a National Park. Tucked into the wilderness, this cosy cabin is perfect for adventurers. In the winter, head to nearby Salla ski resort to hit the fresh powder, and in the summer explore the hiking and biking routes in the pristine forest that surrounds you. After an activity-filled day, relax in the in-house sauna or curl up in front of the stove in the living room. We love the airy yet rustic feel of this home, with its muted colour palette, light-wood walls, open-plan living space and artworks that pay homage to Lapland’s beautiful vistas. To experience the real thing, head to the shared barbecue hut by the pond, and have an unforgettable outdoor meal.

One of the most popular ski destinations in Northern Lapland, you'll appreciate everything there is to discover here. This warm and inviting home is classic Scandinavia, the unfussy, functional interiors giving just enough of a homespun feel, so you’ve got somewhere welcoming to return to at the end of an action-packed day. The sauna is an inviting refuge from sub-zero temperatures – kick back and let your muscles release. There's also a storage area for your equipment, facilitating all of your winter adventures. This place gets you on a high, the thrills of fresh powder and perhaps the appearance of Aurora Borealis elevating you to new levels of excitement.
