Set within a beautiful 20th-century building, the owners have sensitively styled this home to enrich daily living with ease and joy. From the artisanal products crafted by local designers to the gentle lighting, every detail feels considered and intentional. So whether you’re enjoying a quiet morning coffee on the sofa, preparing a delicious meal or catching up on work, you’ll find this home seamlessly adapts to suit the need of the moment. 

Open the doors from the living room and you’ll discover the idyllic terrace – this is the perfect spot to watch the sky transform with golden-hour drinks. 

Stepping onto Santa Catarina, you’ll find the Chapel of Souls and the renowned Majestic Café are just a short stroll away, while the atmospheric streets of Ribeira are less than a twenty-minute walk away. 

The Violette Dream  

With an address on an iconic street, this home is within walking distance of many of Porto’s top attractions. We’re talking about Mercado do Bolhão (five-minutes on foot) and the majestic Clérigos Tower, an eight minute walk away. If you love books, then we’d recommend a browse around Livraria Lello, said to be one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world – it’s well worth the eleven-minute stroll.

Back at this home, take in the views over the city from your private balcony with a glass of rich Port or a cup of coffee. Alternatively, relax on the green mid-century style sofa, next to the potted palm in the light-filled open plan living space. We love that the bedroom opens out onto the balcony too – perfect for breakfast in the morning.


A Strawberry Moon

Welcome yourself into this charming apartment, equipped and designed with items created by emerging designers and artists in Portugal for the highest quality, while also supporting small business owners. Step inside to find a modern living room that radiates peace with hints of emerald. What's even better is the bistro table and chairs by the window to enjoy a cup of tea and your favourite novel, whilst the light beams in. With extremely high ceilings and roomy interiors, you'll have all the comfort you need to unwind after a long day of exploring Porto's secrets.

You will be in the heart of Porto's art district, home to amazing galleries, and boutiques owned by rising artists, with glimpses of real Portuguese life around every corner. After grabbing a couple of Pasteis de Nata, walk across the Luis I Bridge, one that offers a panoramic view of both sides of the river and enables you to see exquisite aspects of the city that you would miss from the ground. Make a trip to Livraria Lello – if you're a Harry Potter fan, you'll know that this bookstore served as an inspiration for author J.K. Rowling, who resided in Porto.


Sweetness of Joy

Found in one of the oldest residential buildings in Porto, this apartment might not look 200 years old thanks to modernisation, but it remains historic. Now updated to house families itching to explore this UNESCO World Heritage City, it's comfortable – though the two bedrooms with the sloped ceilings might be better for kids – and bright with a fantastic location. Walk to Porto Cathedral and other landmarks in minutes, buy fresh produce from the Bolhão market only a short stroll away, and hop on the trams to find points of interest further afield. 

A Little Piece of Porto

Cedofeita is slightly off the beaten track, but still a part of Porto's busy city centre. After you pass the neighbourhood's cosy cafes and art galleries, you'll quickly get to the riverside and other central sights. Fernando & Amalia is a simple, immaculate home with ample natural light and high-quality furniture. The building faces a busy street, which is great if you want to grab a taxi – but the communal areas are a little noisy with the windows open. We did, however, like the Porto-inspired art prints in the living room.

We had to break from doing some serious shopping to tell you about this Porto gem. This elegant apartment, housed in a recently renovated 20th-century building, is located right in the heart of the pedestrianised retail hub of Rua Santa Catarina. For fresh produce and a vibrant atmosphere, head to Mercado do Bolhão, a three-minute walk away. It's not all about shopping, though – the Chapel of Souls is a two-minute walk away, where you'll discover its beautiful azulejo tiled façade. Or take a break in the Café Majestic, a beautiful Art Nouveau café, a five-minute walk from this home. A little further, Porto Cathedral is fourteen minutes on foot. Then stop off at the small port wine shop opposite this home and take some back to this apartment.

Inside, there are furnishings from Portuguese designers and artists. Lots of large windows allow light to flood in. We adore the spacious open plan living space with its two French doors, which open onto a small balustraded balcony overlooking the street. Off the bedroom, there's a secluded terrace too, perfect for a coffee or glass of Port. Later, chill out on the mezzanine level or have a game of chess. There's plenty of room for a family or friends to spread out here. If you prefer to eat in, whip up a bacalhau à Gomes (cod casserole) in the modern kitchen and enjoy it at your dining table. Honestly, though, you probably won't be spending that much time indoors with so much on your doorstep.



Blue Sails

Style and practicality go hand-in-hand at this Lapa district apartment designed by the famed architect Siza Vieira. Each bedroom is as light-filled as the next, thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, and there’s a twin bedroom tailor-made for little ones. It’s worth noting the Metro overground runs close to this home – handy for getting about the city, but the passing trains may take some getting used to. But for a home this central, that’s all par of the course.

Vieira's Place

Situated in the charming Ribeiro neighbourhood, a three-minute walk from the neoclassical Palácio da Bolsa and within touching distance of old-school restaurants serving traditional Portuguese fare, this modern and bright apartment is a great base for exploring all that Porto has to offer.

We loved the light-filled living space, with its huge floor-to-ceiling windows and double-height ceilings. A dining table takes centre stage, encouraging lively breakfasts in the morning and hearty suppers in the evening. There’s also a cosy mezzanine level that is the perfect spot for reclining with a glass of wine before retreating to sumptuous bedrooms for an early night. 

Slip into the narrow cobbled streets and begin your sightseeing adventure. The 12th-century Porto Cathedral is six minutes from your doorstep and the Igreja dos Clérigos with its 75-metre-tall bell tower is reached in less than ten. When it’s time to call it a day, make a beeline for the Vitória viewpoint to watch dusk fall across the city.

Pools of Light

Location doesn’t get much better than this in Porto – on a charming shopping street just a couple of streets away from Sao Bento train station. It’s the ideal position to explore the city on foot, with the ancient azulejo-tiled churches and baroque towers punctuating orange-roofed buildings. On your doorstep, you’ve got family-run restaurants, charming coffee shops and bakeries serving oven-fresh custard tarts. Plus, the famous wine warehouses that line the Douro at Ribeira are just a short stroll away.

This studio apartment is a stylish spot to return to after a day exploring downtown Porto. Modern, monochrome artworks sit against striking bottle-green walls, but the first thing that caught our attention was the wall of stone-framed windows, looking out over the tiled buildings of your typical Porto street. Throwing these open, you can listen to the chatter from the street waking up in the morning while dozing in the comfy bed before settling in at plush velvet chairs for a classic breakfast of custard tarts and coffee. 

Rich Green & Wicker

This chic Porto bolthole had us with those dazzling views from the shared rooftop terrace alone. And that was before we'd even discovered its unbeatable location.

Set right in the historic heart of the city, Porto's must-see sights are just a hop, skip, and a jump away. Get off to a flying start at Clérigos Tower and Lello's Bookshop – both under a five-minute walk away. Then lose yourself to Riberia's zig-zagging streets (a fourteen-minute walk). Jam-packed with restaurants and hole-in-the-wall taverns, this district is a foodie haven. 

For those drawn to the evening bustle, you won't have far to go. The apartment stands along Rua Galeria de Paris, now synonymous with the Porto party scene. Though you may find all the ambience you need at home on the roof terrace with a few post-feast drinks as the streets bustle below.

Back downstairs, this home feels like a breath of fresh air to return to. And while it may be studio living, we think it's expertly formed with clean, uncluttered spaces and a hefty dose of natural daylight thanks to that bank of Juliet balcony doors.

Over in the smart kitchen area, there's everything you could need to rustle up a bite to eat. And you'll love how cosy and quiet the bedroom nook feels when it's time to bank some beauty sleep.

Porto Postcard

Delicate and soft, this baby blue apartment has plenty of surprises waiting for you. We're swooning over the features – the coffered ceilings wouldn't be amiss in a royal palace, while the iron on the arched window is intricate and charming. Add in the cushy orange sofa, parquet flooring and decadently tiled bathroom and it's love at first sight. The layout is also unique – technically, it's more of a studio, but a glass wall keeps the bedroom separate from the living space. The kitchen is a little basic, but we don't mind – if anything, it gives you an excuse to sample the many delicious eateries in Porto.  

But the best part, by far, is the excellent location. Palácio da Bolsa is two minutes away, and there are cafes, bars and boutiques aplenty on your doorstep. Pretty much everything is within walking distance – be it markets or museums – so we think a couple or solo traveller will be happy to call this place home. Wander down the famous alleys of Ribeira do Porto (a four-minute walk), grab a cocktail at one of the riverside restaurants or just stroll along the Douro and soak up the magic of Porto.
