This wonderful home is the kind you’ll fondly daydream about when you’re back at home, listening to drizzle patter against the windows. Everything you might want or need during your stay has been thought of in this luxurious and welcoming home, so you can focus on enjoying every last second of your break. 

The villa is bright and stylish, with decor and finishes that would be at home in an interior design magazine. It’s beautiful, with splashes of colour adding warmth and fun. You’ll wake up to feel the sunshine on your pillow, tempting you to head through the floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors outside to the terrace. Sip an espresso as you breathe in the warm, sweet-scented air. 

The outside space has been as thoughtfully considered as the house. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a sun-worshipper or prefer to lounge in the shade. Table tennis will keep the big kids entertained, while you cool off in the refreshing solar-heated pool. There’s a gym inside, too, so you can easily get a workout in – though we might be more tempted by a yoga session on the terrace. 

When you want to explore further afield, you might stroll to Galé beach, or perhaps hop in the car to visit Troia. History buffs will enjoy seeing the Roman ruins at Cetobriga, while golfers might choose to stay closer to home – Troia Golf is a five-minute drive from the villa. This is truly a holiday home with something for everyone – you’ll never want to leave.

Each building has been designed to remove the barriers between you and the natural world, with large doors that swing out to provide seamless access to the central pool surrounded by sun loungers and a rustic pergola for outdoor dining in the shade.

The dune garden boardwalk gives way to wild beaches, with two of Comporta's best-known stretches of sand just a short walk away. Here, you can spend days soaking up the sun beneath cloudless skies, frolicking in the surf and exploring the ever-shifting sand dunes.

It's pretty clear what was at the top of the list for the architect that designed this intriguing home in Comporta – natural light and lots of it. Enormous walls of glass line the sides of the home and the dazzlingly white interior design only accentuates this plentiful natural asset. These huge windows also have the added benefit of looking out to peaceful views of local rice fields, too.

As you can probably begin to tell, it's a rather relaxing address. There are lots of spots in the tropical garden in which to appreciate the local tranquillity, whether on the back of a lounger or while dining alfresco on the table. Whenever the temperature takes a dip, you can head back inside and cosy up next to the contemporary fireplace in the lounge.

When it comes to seeing a little more of the locale, there are vast swathes of golden beaches covering the Portuguese coastline that start from as close as 1.5km away, while the nearest town is only 2km away for when you're in need of restaurants and shops.

These views are best enjoyed at sunset, on the outdoor sofas with a glass of wine in hand. Unwind and relax in serene solitude. With a large kitchen and stylish dining room, there is little reason to venture into the outside world, but if you do, we highly recommend Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Reconnect with family and friends over billiards or with a home-cooked feast; there are plenty of lounging spaces for the ultimate privacy. The more athletic among you can have a game of tennis at the on-site court. This home is located between Lisbon and Lagos. Make sure you explore the dramatic beaches that make up the Algarve coast.
