You guessed it – this charming mid-century-inspired home used to be an architectural studio and was lovingly renovated by your hosts to create an immaculate space for a single traveller, cosy couple or a small family. With its own entrance, charming patio and private pool, you won't even notice that your hosts are right next door. Although if you need them, they'll be delighted to give you local tips and help you out in any way. Nestled in-between Phoenix and Scottsdale, you’re just ten minutes from Old Town Scottsdale with its vibrant nightlife and excellent restaurant choices, as well as Phoenix Zoo and Desert Botanical Gardens. Less than fifteen minutes in the opposite direction and you’ll find yourself in the excitement of downtown Phoenix. Whatever way you go, there's plenty to see and do.

Though it looks fairly simple from the exterior, this home has been recently renovated and the open-plan kitchen and living space feels fresh, modern and comfortable. The master bedroom is particularly enviable - we loved the love seat next to the bed - but guests should note that one of the bedrooms doubles as a children-oriented games room.

Looking for a fun-packed family escape? This recently remodelled and colourful mid-century-inspired home is as good as it gets. It’s a five-minute walk to Old Town Scottsdale, where you'll have access to world-famous restaurants, shopping, art galleries and more. After exploring, come back to the spacious garden and kick off some games – why not shoot some hoops in the heated pool or challenge the group to a mini-golf championship? The winners can bask in the sunshine while the losing team fires up the barbecue. Rain stopping play? We came to the conclusion that this Phoenix home has a very different interior and exterior. Behind the front door, guests will be greeted with a space that has a distinct boho edge — think macramé decorations, a plethora of house plants and a penchant for tan leather. It's all very calming. However, the home's outside space is geared towards entertainment, rather than relaxation. Just outside the glass doors, a bar area sits underneath the covered terrace and beyond this, there's an invitingly blue swimming pool. As if that wasn't enough, there's also a children's play area and a putting green on which budding golfers can practise. Nearby, you can drive to both Scottsdale and Phoenix in around twenty minutes. Frank Lloyd Wright's impressive winter home, Taliesin West, is a similar distance away, too.

Part of a friendly community, outside the gates there’s enough shopping, food and golf to satisfy enthusiasts of any level. However, inside the doors of this remodelled hillside home, it's all about relaxation with a distinct luxe twist. The master bedroom, in particular, is a showstopper, with its red leather sofa, huge en-suite bathroom and floor-to-ceiling windows which make the most of the view of the desert, as well as the fuchsia bougainvillaea that border the entire house. There are two parts of this home we think will get repeat visits — the restaurant-quality indoor bar area that puts drinks cabinets masquerading as such to shame and the outdoor hot tub.
