A sweet summer’s day comes easy in this elegant, Georgian-style home. After a rejuvenating sleep in one of the lavish bedrooms, all you’ll want is to get out into the sun. We know that some people prefer sandy beaches while others like swimming pools, and we love that this home has both – a private, glassy pool out back and the beach just a stone’s throw away. The home also has an entertainment room and well-equipped bar to ensure that everyone gets their share of fun. Though with a golf course nearby and rest of the island playground, perhaps we didn’t even need to worry about that.

Located just outside of Charleston's historic downtown area and close to the shops, restaurants and bars of King Street, this home is in an enviable position within the city. And just like its surroundings, the building itself is steeped in history. Built in 1885, it boasts picturesque porches, hardwood floors and a crisp colour scheme. The kitchen is eye-catching with its bright green cabinets, and offers a bold contrast to the elegant Art Deco-inspired living area. Our favourite element, however, is the veranda. No trip to the southern states is complete without at least some of the relaxation taking place on a traditional covered porch, and this home offers a charming one where you can sit and while away the hours with a cool drink.

This is your Charlotte city escape. This three-bedroom apartment is modern, bright and full of small touches that add character and style – like the wood floors and marble touches throughout. Huddle around the fire pit on winter evenings or cook up a BBQ on the grill by the pool in summer. Inside, the bedrooms have large beds and deluxe furnishings, while the sunken living room makes for a great space to relax in front of the TV. Rent kayaks and paddle boards by the dock of the lagoon and catch an unforgettable sunset from the water.

On a picturesque street of swaying palm trees sits this traditional Victorian home. Built in 1885, it has a square, symmetrical exterior, covered porches, high ceilings and exposed beams. Inside, however, the home has been brought bang up to date. A modern kitchen with moody cabinets set the tone for this family home, which casually blends past and present design styles. The living area is just big enough to comfortably seat its eight guests andthere's a wonderful outdoor porch. Outdoorsy types will love the forty kilometres of paved bike paths and the Atlantic surf. After a long day of sun, sea and fun, we can see you sipping a Long Island iced tea on one of the deck chairs that have been thoughtfully set up by the lagoon, before enjoying a balmy evening dining on the terrace. Perfection.

Welcome to Queen City, nestled in the historic Belmont neighbourhood in NoDa. Visit NoDa to see the city's diverse galleries and attempt to catch a performance at the Neighbourhood Theatre, which often hosts big-name artists. Stroll about town for a relaxing day out, looking at artisan gift shops and jewellery stores before stopping for a slice of pizza. For a soothing day, head to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, where you can listen to birds sing and see flowers bloom. The 7th Street Public Market captivates you in this food market and is great for a relaxed weekend day over coffee and pastries. With so much to do in the city, you'll never feel bored.

We love the wooden touches, which add a unique character, with gorgeous designer fabrics and comfy sofa space making this a dream area for relaxation. The open-plan kitchen invites you to savour communal meals, which are best enjoyed on the lovely back patio, which also features a fantastic dining table. There is also plenty of comfortable garden furniture out here – ideal for lazy afternoons or evening drinks under the stars. 

All four bedrooms offer their own plush luxury, and a promise of a restful night’s sleep, with soft beds and tasteful furnishings. When you feel like taking a dip, you can get to the beaches of Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island in twenty minutes by car.

You can’t help but be impressed by the décor, which deftly blends the traditional with the modern, with the wall-to-wall windows flooding the living and dining areas with plenty of natural light. We love the idea of evening snuggles on the comfy sofa, with the fireplace gently crackling. Then there’s the kitchen, which is a wonder in itself – and a perfect place to leisurely rustle up a family meal, which can then be enjoyed at the gorgeous dining table. 

The plush comfort of the bedrooms, with their elegant, minimalist design will offer you a restful night’s sleep, and the mornings are best enjoyed with breakfast served in the lovely, private backyard. 

While the hip, bustling Uptown is located a mere thirty-minute drive away, here you will find an oasis of peace and tranquillity, with all the comforts to make your stay a restful and memorable one.

We’ve got to hand it to this gorgeous home — or should we say mansion — on Hilton Head Island. As far as luxurious hideaways go, this one exudes class. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens and within a two-minute walk of the beach, there is something deliciously magical about this place. We fell in love with the secluded palm-fringed swimming pools (one for the adults and one for the children). In fact, the leafy garden is something of a centrepiece, with balconies, terraces, and charming arched loggias all cleverly arranged to give maximum views over this delightful outside space.
