You'll have your pick of outdoor seating at this Cape Town villa, and rest easy knowing you'll have spectacular views of the iconic Table Mountain from wherever you choose to sit. Hanging chairs, sun loungers and an alfresco dining table appear alongside a private infinity pool and lush garden. Though everything will pale in comparison to the vistas outside, the interior puts up a good fight with African-inspired decor, luxurious touches and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in ample light - the steam room in the main bathroom is another nice touch. Hout Bay is full of quirky shops and cafes, and Llandudno Beach is only a short drive away.

Golden Day

Just seconds from the western-facing Clifton 4th Beach, this quirky and fun bungalow was built for sunset lovers. You can enjoy sea views in privacy from the garden, while the sheltered terrace is perfect for family barbecue parties. Inside, the home's eclectic design will be a hit with the kids – they can even watch the swimmers in the pool go by as they play in the downstairs media room. And with its record player and LP collection full of familiar favourites, adults will love it down there too. With an upstairs balcony and two freestanding baths, you've also got plenty of places to enjoy the complimentary wine you'll find on arrival. 

The Hazy Melody

This sleek, sophisticated villa was designed with the view in mind. Just step out onto the balcony and you'll be treated to uninterrupted panoramas of Cape Town's rugged mountain peaks and the rolling waters of the South Atlantic. We can't think of a better backdrop for morning cups of coffee, afternoon dips in the private pool or alfresco evening meals. And, when the day draws to a close, you'll have a front-row seat for arguably the best oceanfront sunset in Camps Bay – we can definitely toast to that.

Inside, sunshine streams through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing every nook and cranny in light. The open-plan layout invites you to socialise or relax, depending on your mood, so make yourself right at home. Stretch out on the leather sofa and watch a film on the DVD player, then cook up bobotie in the glossy kitchen when you grow peckish. All three bedrooms are as comfortable as they are stylish, as are the bathrooms – there's nothing like unwinding with a soak in one of the lush bathtubs after a long day on your feet.

And speaking of long days, with a location as good as this, we bet you'll be out and about exploring. Go for a hike in Table Mountain National Park, catch some rays at Camps Bay Beach or savour a cocktail at the waterfront bars on Victoria Road – Cape Town's your oyster, although we won't blame you if you can't tear yourself away from those views.

Seaside Twilight

With mountains on one side and the ocean on the other, this villa is as idyllic as the scenery that surrounds it. The whitewashed exterior has an art deco feel, with its geometric columns and grand portico. Set across two floors, this is lateral living at its finest. There are seven enormous bedrooms, each with an en suite and sliding glass doors that lead out onto the garden downstairs, or the wraparound balcony with ocean views upstairs. There’s plenty of room for everyone to relax in the open plan living area, complete with a wood panelled bar for whipping up cocktails come evening. The spacious kitchen is well stocked for cooking up big family meals, or fire up the barbecue and enjoy lunch alfresco on the balcony, with a gentle sea breeze. 

You are perfectly placed to explore Cape Town’s natural delights here. The house is on the edge of Table Mountain National Park, where you’ll find a myriad of hiking trails through breathtaking scenery. Drive eleven minutes to reach the hiking trail leading to the mountain itself, with its jaw dropping views. Drive four minutes and spend the day at Camps Bay Beach, with its white sands and promenade lined with restaurants and beach bars. There’s a lively nightlife scene here, when the beach bars turn into buzzy night clubs. If you’re here for relaxation, head home and draw a bubble bath before a sunset dinner in your private paradise.

The Twelve Apostles

Nestled on the Hermanus Cliff Path with sweeping ocean views, this stone villa puts you in a prime position for whale spotting. Inside, there’s plenty of room for everyone to stretch out, with multiple living areas and kitchens, six  en-suite bedrooms – some with private balconies – plus a pool and jacuzzi. And the location? Hard to beat. Stroll into Hermanus Village and down to the beach, or set out on day trips through the wine regions of Hemel-en-Aarde, Stellenbosch, and Franschhoek.

Hermanus Cliffside Residence

There are many highlights of this home, but the cosy terrace with incredible views of Table Mountain is the jewel in its crown. Inspiring and mesmerising, it adds a magical allure to the chic outside space. 

We imagine that outside space is where you'll spend most of your time. Whether it's sharing a pot of coffee for breakfast, tasting some biltong for lunch or watching the orange hues of sunset disappear beneath the mountain. 

The chic style of the terrace continues once inside the home. Authentically African artwork hangs on the walls and rustic artefacts are dotted around the living room. 

The living room – adorned in comfy sofas and facing the TV – leads to a contemporary kitchen and breakfast bar. You can open the patio doors to the terrace and sit on the stools to replicate beach bar vibes.

If you wanted to visit an actual beach bar, there are many lined across the shoreline at Camps Bay. But mosey around slightly more locally and you'll find a nexus of restaurants, cafes and bars around the vibey streets of De Waterkant.

Setting the Table

Nestled in the spellbinding suburb of Bishopscourt, this villa makes an impressive first impression by blending elegance and eclectic African pieces by local artists. The patio – complete with a swimming pool and ample outdoor seating – overlooks some of the mountains that make the mother city special, and those vistas stay mostly within view thanks to the architecture and large windows. With a private tennis court, gym, games room, and cinema, there’s plenty to occupy. The beach is a short drive away, and so is the golf course, but it’s Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden that's a must for any bucket list.

Step inside this exquisite villa in Camps Bay. Its contemporary design and excellent natural lighting combine to highlight both the stunning interior and the amazing vistas that surround the home. In the morning, make an iced coffee and go through the sliding doors, absorbing the ocean views, before plunging into the cooling pool. We adore the open plan living area that gives an airy space for everyone to relax and entertain, or head downstairs to the cinema room, remembering to bring along the popcorn.

Catch a performance at Theatre On The Bay to experience comedy acts and theatre plays in this gorgeous little theatre venue. It won't be long until you crave a beach day, so take a four-minute drive to Camps Bay Beach to wander along the white sand while admiring the scenic mountain views before selecting the right area to relax for the day. Take a drive along the coastal route to Cape Point – the route will take you past breathtaking coastal scenery, including Muizenberg's colourful beach huts, Kalk Bay, Simon's Town, and Boulders Beach to watch the Penguins.

Situated in Plettenberg Bay adjacent to Goose Valley Golf Club and overlooking Keurbooms Lagoon, this remarkable home brings a taste of modern luxury to a truly idyllic location.

Given the glorious climate, this is an address in which alfresco living is prioritised. A swimming pool takes pride of place in the middle of the outdoor space and is sure to see plenty of dips during the summer months. Add to that a luscious garden full of old milkwood trees, a rooftop bar and a bar that sits behind a large glass wall, and it's easy to pass countless hours out in the open air.
