Deep in the Mayan forest, this architect-designed villa puts you properly off the grid – five minutes down a dirt road with no neighbours in sight, yet close enough to Tulum's clifftop ruins and cenotes to fill your days. The jungle-embedded pool sits under the forest canopy, and the open-air living spaces let the surroundings do the work – birdsong, greenery, and the kind of quiet that's hard to find. A rooftop terrace is good for sunsets and better for stargazing. An on-site housekeeper takes care of the practicalities, and the host can arrange private chefs, massage therapists, and local transport.

Home truths

  • While some bedrooms and bathrooms aren't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.

  • Wi-fi works best in the main living room and kitchen area – the cabanas are off the Starlink signal, so if you need reliable connectivity for calls or streaming, plan to do it from the central social space rather than your cabin.

  • There is no smoke alarm on site, though a carbon monoxide alarm and fire extinguisher are present.

  • The villa is fully solar-powered, so you'll be asked to be mindful about not running air conditioning unnecessarily.

  • You'll need a car or hired driver to get around – Tulum town is roughly a fifteen- to twenty-minute drive away, while the beaches and cenotes require similar journeys.
