With its jolly red façade, white trim, and all covered in snow you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d just pulled up to Santa’s Finnish hideaway when you arrive at this lodge near Sotkamo. It’s just a 5-minute drive from Vuokatti, where you’ll find coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, and an amusement park – this is also your closest spot for local skiing. Back at home and you’ll be glad of this cottage’s cosy atmosphere – not to mention the electric sauna which is sure to help ease any aching muscles from a day on the slopes. The home is decorated in a traditional style, and feels bright, modern, and welcoming. There’s a large sectional sofa in the living area that’s made all the more comfortable by the traditional woodburning stove nearby, making it the perfect place to curl up with a good book. The kitchen is well kitted out for the making of hearty, warming fare, and while the bedrooms might be very simply decorated, their wood clad walls make for a cosy night’s sleep.
