Those who love the great outdoors will have similar feelings about this apartment in the Silvaplana region of Switzerland. It's about five minutes' walk from a ski lift, half that time to walking routes through a forest and just over half an hour in the car to a windsurfing school on the edge of Lake Silvaplana. However you choose to spend your time here, the home itself will have you well rested ahead of the following day's excursions. The wooden beams and vaulted ceilings feel quintessentially Swiss, as does the open-hearth fireplace in the living room for warming up cold fingers. In the same space, there's a door leading to a balcony, which, should the weather be on your side, is a lovely spot for breakfast, thanks in no small part to the spectacular mountain view.
