For a laid-back holiday with the family, this is a great choice. This lovely bungalow is right at the heart of De Cocksdorp, yet the garden overlooks the countryside so it feels like a little retreat. In the morning, you can stroll less than one minute to the bakery next door for fresh bread and pastries. Sit out on the terrace if it’s sunny, tucking into the freshest of breakfasts while breathing in the fresh air. Texel is a marvellous island with nature reserves, countryside and the coast. It’s best explored on foot or by bike – and you can rent bikes from just down the street. Perhaps you’ll head straight for the beach, which is eight minutes away by bike. Walk along the shore, skimming stones and paddling, before popping to a cosy cafe for lunch. For hiking, you might visit De Slufter, which is twelve minutes away by bike. Leave your bikes and explore the nature reserve on foot, seeing which birds you can spot. Nature-lovers are sure to enjoy a visit to Ecomare, the seal sanctuary – it’s always popular with children, too. After busy days spent outside, you’ll be glad to have such a cosy home from home to return to. Curl up in the living room playing board games and making happy family memories.
