Perched on the edge of Milnerton Lagoon, this recently built apartment not only has a view of the vast body of water that lends the local neighbourhood its name, but you can also spot the Atlantic Ocean and some of Cape Town's mountains as you gaze out over the home's Juliet balcony. Back inside, there's a contemporary simplicity to the interior, with smart wooden floors and stark white walls making for an elegant backdrop against which you'll find mid-century-inspired furnishings and a minimalist kitchen complete with sleek surfaces. Although these slightly generic design choices mean it could feasibly be anywhere in the world, the addition of a surfboard and traditional artwork in one of the bedrooms anchors it in Cape Town. When you're in the mood to experience all that this vibrant city has to offer, Lagoon Beach can be easily reached on foot and has plenty of restaurants and cafes overlooking the sand for post-swim refreshments. The museums and historic attractions in the centre of the city take only ten minutes or so to reach by car, too.
