'The Early Risers', Devon

Serene views, sleek interiors and seemingly impossible design elements combine to make 'The Early Risers' an architectural feat on England’s coastline. The space’s pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the gravity-defying fireplace in the center of the living area – closely followed by the chic (and fully stocked) bar. Décor is equal parts classy and edgy; velvet upholstery and faux-fur throws contrast with neon signs and curious light fixtures in the bedrooms. We might be biased, but we think this is the perfect retreat for those wanting nothing but tranquility.

Meet Deborah

Hi I'm Deborah, and I'd love to tell you a bit more about my Plum Guide home, 'The Early Risers' in Woolacombe, Devon. My husband and I completed building the home almost a year and a half ago now, and we joined Plum Guide in summer 2020.

What's your home's super power?

That's an easy one: to be able to recharge.

How would you describe your interior style?

Eclectic and inviting!

Biggest inspiration behind designing the home?

Modernist Japanese architecture.

What do you think makes a house a home?

It has to have soul, which is created by the items you put in it.

Favourite time of day to enjoy your home?

Has to be sunset...have you seen the views? The best way to take them in is in the hot tub, or closer to the fire with a glass of red wine in winter.

Best thing you can walk to from your home?

The beach. Simple. Woolacombe beach is huge, clean and perfect for all the family (and big enough to enjoy some time to yourself too!).

Favourite local eateries nearby?

The Porthole behind the dunes on Woolacombe beach for great coffee and lunch, and Meraki Cafe is the ideal spot for breakfast. If you're after a good old pub supper then head to The Rock Inn in neighbouring Georgeham.
