Click to book Royal Walk now: from £120 per night What a fantastic location this stylish apartment has in Edinburgh's Old Town. It's just a five-minute walk from the stunning Palace of Holyroodhouse, while the Royal Mile is a ten-minute stroll away. The city's most famous landmark, Edinburgh Castle, is under twenty minutes on foot if you want to take some snaps of this icon. Back at this industrial-inspired home, there's everything you need to feel comfortable during your stay. We love the spider chandelier, modern prints and monochrome wallpaper here. Plan your days from the comfy sofa or enjoy a takeaway at the dining table if you don't fancy eating out. This home is perfect for a group of friends or a family looking to be within walking distance of many of Edinburgh's wonderful sights. Sleeps up to 4 | 2 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms

Click to book Timorous Beastie now: from £90 per night Grab your own cosy nook right on the Royal Mile – Edinburgh's main artery, ending at the castle. Moments away, you'll find whisky bars serving over 200 different drams, fully kilted pipers, and – in August, anyway – the magical chaos of the Edinburgh Festival. This apartment offers brief respite from all that, kitted out with a flat-screen TV for binge-watching, a generous kitchen corner for preparing tipsy laird pudding and a squishy red leather sofa to eat it on. Downstairs is the famous World's End pub – grab a pint and people-watch for a while. Sleeps up to 4 | 2 Bedrooms | 2 Bathrooms

Click to book Cobble Stones and Whiskey now: from £50 per night Edinburgh is a city you want to walk in. Up the hills of New Town, surrounded by stunning Georgian architecture, through cobbled streets that wind around the Mound and into the Old Town, home of the majestic Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. This newly renovated studio flat is on one of the prettiest crescents in town and is perfectly positioned for strolling through the city. Compact but comfortable, it has a coveted private outdoor patio space. This is the perfect snug base to welcome you home after a day of exploring, rounded off perhaps with a dram or two of whiskey at your friendly local, The Cumberland Arms. Sleeps up to 2 | 1 Bedroom | 1 Bathroom

The Angels' Share

The Angels' Share, Plum Guide home in Edinburgh, Scotland

The Angels' Share, Plum Guide home in Edinburgh, Scotland

Click to book The Angels' Share now: from £120 per night Six minutes from the vast greenery of Holyrood Park, this deluxe studio feels like a world away from local sights such as the ancient volcano of Arthur’s Seat. On a hill with traditional stone buildings, plus an array of tea rooms, shops, and pubs, this modern flat shows another side to the city. With industrial decor throughout, it’s an incredibly stylish place to pour a tumbler of whisky and settle down. We love how black metal features like the coffee table, lighting, and window frames, contrast plush furnishings like the blue velvet sofa. As it’s a cosy studio, there are fantastic space-saving ideas like a foldaway kitchenette. And with mid-century furnishings and abstract art, it's a trendy mix which has a warehouse vibe overall – something very different to what you’ll find outside. The Queen’s Gallery, at her royal residence of Holyrood, is just a five-minute walk away. Book yourself in to see paintings from the old masters, then cross the road to the modern architecture of the Scottish Parliament. In this city of contrasts and opposites, this flat truly fits right in. Sleeps up to 2 | 1 Bedroom | 1 Bathroom

The Cairn

The Cairn, Plum Guide home in Edinburgh, Scotland

Click to book The Cairn now: from £200 per night At the foot of the iconic Royal Mile, six minutes from Holyrood Park, you can live like royalty in this palatial penthouse. After a private airport transfer right to your front door, kindly arranged by your host, arrive in style on this historic Old Town street. The bright red building stands out against the original stonework of neighbouring architecture. Right at the top, your flat is the jewel in the crown. Boasting views of the rocky facade of Salisbury Crags, you might find it hard to tear yourself away from the windows, but the interiors are also quite something. We love the industrial-style decor, with minimalist hanging lamps, metal chairs, and thick, black framed windows. The bathrooms also run with this theme, with framed doors on the rainfall showers (much more pleasant than the famous Edinburgh drizzle) and each with their own funky tiled colour scheme. For a contrast to these modern interiors, head outside and take the one-mile trek to the top of Arthur’s Seat. This extinct volcano has panoramic views at the summit – don’t forget to place a stone on a cairn at the top, as per Scottish tradition. Sleeps up to 6 | 3 Bedrooms | 4 Bathrooms
