Playa del Rey is a charming beach neighbourhood just south of Marina del Rey and Venice. It's mostly a residential area but does have some dining and shopping along its main road, including some great dive bars and restaurants. The wide, sandy beach is gorgeous and less crowded than the stretch along the way in Venice. The only downside to this otherwise delightful neighbourhood is the fairly frequent overhead noise from the nearby international airport.
