Top 20 Long Island City, New York vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
Located in Queens, Long Island City is a diverse, easy-going part of town, home to MoMA's cooler, younger offshoot - MoMA PS1 - a great place to catch up with the latest developments in contemporary art and well-known among the cool kids for its hugely popular summertime Saturday day-parties. While you'll still find a few brownstone walk-ups and boutique bodegas tucked along 45th Avenue, Long Island City is, for the most part, still a newly developing area that lacks the classic olde worlde charm of many older NYC neighbourhoods - it's mainly slick, clean-lined blocks in these parts. The neighbourhood has great energy though and its residents love its art-scene, chilled out vibe, and waterside location which offers great walking opportunities and fabulous views across to Manhattan. One thing to know – New York is a very busy city with lots going on (it’s not called “the city that never sleeps” for nothing). As part of an authentic New York experience, you can expect a fair amount of noise and construction coming from the streets, whether it be roadwork, scaffolding, or honking yellow taxis.
