Top 20 Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto vacation rentals & luxury serviced apartments
Situated on the south side of the Duoro river, Vila Nova de Gaia originated at the same time as Porto’s centre. It’s known for its port wine cellars, so there’s lots here for wine enthusiasts. The river’s edge has a great view of the historic city buildings tucked into the hill. From its waterfront cafes and bars you can see the picturesque suburb of Ribeira while swerving the crowds. This spot works well for people who want to be a bit further away from the action, as the main museums, monuments, and shopping areas are over in the city centre. Porto does, however, have solid metro and bus systems which means you’re well connected to the other side of the city. You also have the option of driving out west to visit one of the Atlantic beaches.
