A picturesque part of the city, in the heart of the old town, Ribeira is a riverside spot overlooking the Douro River where you can visit Praça da Ribeira square which is lined with colourful 18th-century townhouses, and visit Bolsa Palace, a neoclassical landmark with ornate interiors which is a short three-minute walk from your door. At dinner time, weave your way through the cobbled streets of Ribeira where you will find plenty of small bars and eateries – to taste classic Portuguese fare such as grilled sardines.

This home is also perfectly situated to explore everything else that Porto has to offer. Porto Cathedral can be reached within five minutes by foot where you can enjoy the sunlight shining in through the stained glass rose window as you explore one of the city’s oldest Romanesque monuments. Calling all oenophiles. This Porto apartment is situated in the city's historic wine quarter. You'll be a stone's throw from the underground cellars and local restaurants that characterise this neighbourhood and just a quick metro ride from landmarks like the Clérigos Tower and the Ribeira. The building is over 100 years old – it certainly doesn't lack charm. We adore the hand-painted blue tiles on the exterior, while inside, neoclassical windows flood the living space with sunlight and quaint Juliet balconies offer views towards the centre. It's not the largest pad and the kitchen is pretty compact, but with a desk for remote working and two cosy bedrooms, we think it'll do nicely for a Porto getaway.

Housed in a period building once home to 18th Century bourgeoisie society, the picture windows and ornate balcony that wraps the length of this home remain to tell of its deep history. And though it’s a studio space, we think it’s beautifully formed and full of charm. Ideally suited for a romantic break for two or a single traveller, there’s a cosy nook for your morning breakfast and a well-kitted-out kitchen area for rustling up a light meal. Though let’s face it, in the land of smoked cheese, cured meats, Atlantic-caught seafood, and Pastel de Nata, we suspect you’ll be dining out, a lot. And you won’t have far to go to find all the delicacies, or indeed must-see sights, of the city. We love the views over the River Douro and Porto from this home's terrace. You can enjoy the vistas from inside too, where you'll also find stylish interiors with wooden floors, whitewashed beams and a log burner. This home is situated right in the hub of the Port industry. There are plenty of wine cellars offering tours and tastings, such as Fonseca Port Wine Cellars and Caves Cálem within a short walk. For a bird's eye view of the city, head to the nearby Gaia Cable Car, or the stunning Porto Cathedral is a quick drive away.

It’s in a wonderfully central location close to many of the city’s most popular sights, including the Sé do Porto, which you can walk to in less than thirty minutes. For further afield attractions, you can hop on the metro at Heroísmo station, a 140-metre walk away. The apartment is close to restaurants and cafes, as well as some excellent pastry shops – you’ll never be too far from your next pastel de nata. We love the simplicity of this attractive home, with its petite balcony and open-plan living and dining space. It’s a great choice for a large group. 

Pretty in Porto

Right in the heart of the city, this central apartment is ideally suited for those looking to visit the top sights and cultural attractions. Due to the location, there's potential for noise here. Light sleepers may want to pack earplugs. You're right by Ribeira, with the waterfront's restaurants, bars and cafes just a short walk away. There's limited living space and the kitchen is only suitable for preparing light bites, but it's a good pick for solo travellers or couples. You'll notice the colourful decor that creates a welcoming home, while the exposed stone is a nice touch. Open up the shutters and invite the sounds of Porto into the apartment, as you relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

Boasting pastoral architectural features in combination with minimalist interiors, we were not only impressed with the sleek look but more importantly, the comfort provided. On top of that, you’ll be staying in a fabulous location, especially if you’ve never been to Porto before. You're right by the city centre and close to the most important tourist attractions. Of course, it wouldn't be Porto if wonderful cafes didn't also line the streets.

If you want your city break to have a side of relaxation and luxury, this is the holiday home for you. This gorgeous duplex sits in a lovely spot close to the River Douro, offering beautiful views across the water. As soon as you arrive, you’ll be drawn out to the balcony, where – if you’re anything like us – you’ll tuck into breakfast each day, and round things off by watching the sunset with a glass of wine. It’s an idyllic spot. 

Inside, the apartment is just as striking. Exposed stone walls and dark wood furniture combine with floor-to-ceiling windows to stunning effect, and everything you need is close to hand. Cook local dishes in the kitchen and dine in together, opening up the balcony doors to merge the indoor and outdoor spaces for cocktail hour. 

When you want to see more of Porto, you’ll find that you’re within easy walking distance of all of the major sights and attractions. You’ll never want to leave this classy and convenient home.

With an address on an iconic street, this home is within walking distance of many of Porto’s top attractions. We’re talking about Mercado do Bolhão (five-minutes on foot) and the majestic Clérigos Tower, an eight minute walk away. If you love books, then we’d recommend a browse around Livraria Lello, said to be one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world – it’s well worth the eleven-minute stroll.

Back at this home, take in the views over the city from your private balcony with a glass of rich Port or a cup of coffee. Alternatively, relax on the green mid-century style sofa, next to the potted palm in the light-filled open plan living space. We love that the bedroom opens out onto the balcony too – perfect for breakfast in the morning.


A Strawberry Moon

They say good things come in small packages and this practical apartment lives up to the saying. As central as Porto bases get, you’ll be close to a host of cultural and historic must-sees, including Clérigos Tower, Porto Cathedral and the bustling Cais da Ribeira district. The many nearby restaurants make up for the pocket-sized kitchenette, and while the decor isn’t the most inspiring here, beamed ceilings and a sleek en-suite are nice touches we appreciate. Just be aware you’ll need to climb the stairs up to the entrance – but as another saying goes, all good things require effort.

With stunning Douro River views, the equal of those from the nearby Miradouro da Vitória, this historic building offers up the perfect Porto apartment for your time in the city. 

Come for the top-floor views and stay for the stylish mid-century interior. Why not read a book in the Eames chair beneath the awe-inspiring domed skylight, admire the minimalist artwork casually propped up against the wall, or relax in the elegant living area seating?

This home nearly feels like staying on a boat – what with the large French doors opening directly onto the Douro River. Whether you’re sat on the sofa or enjoying a coffee at the dining table, you’ll have sweeping views of the water and the city. The windows’ second benefit is the sheer amount of light the living space gets, bathing the tasteful furniture in the warm sun. We could spend hours with a book in the armchair, taking in the sea air as the day grows to a peak. But of course, this central location leaves much to be explored. You can wander along the riverfront’s picturesque fishing neighbourhoods, hopping on the 1930s tram that runs to Foz. Or, board on a boat that will take you to the famous terraced Douro vineyards to sample Vinho Verde and Port. You’ll be walking distance from beautiful historic buildings, located in one of the quietest streets of Ribeira, and only a thirteen-minute walk from São Bento Railway Station – which will connect you all over the city.

Whilst the apartment is housed in a building dating from the 18th century, it’s been completely renovated inside. One thing to note, though, at full capacity, two people will be on a sofa bed in the living space. Situated in one of Porto’s picturesque districts, Ribeira – this apartment boasts an enviable location too. You’ll find a maze of cobbled medieval alleys, cosy bars, and eateries serving traditional cuisine. Attractions nearby include the iconic D. Luís Bridge and the beautiful Bolsa Palace.

Guests rave about the location of this Porto apartment, and it’s easy to see why. Set in a quiet corner of Ribeira, the Douro River, Praça da Ribeira Square, and neoclassical Bolsa Palace are all just a short stroll away. Set in the heart of Porto, this apartment provides easy access to the historical marvels dotting the city – and when you want to travel further afield, the closest metro is a mere ten-minute walk. So, while this fuss-free home may not be filled with luxurious finishes, it’s all about the location for us. It’s a comfortable space for four people, just bear in mind that the second bedroom is an interior room, so lacks natural light. That said, we think this makes it a perfect spot for a restful, undisturbed sleep.

With its great location in trendy Rua das Flores, this functional home places the best of the Porto on your doorstep. The river is just a fifteen-minute walk away, while the local area is teeming with historic buildings, eateries, bars, and more. Arrival is easy thanks to the self-check-in, and the kitchenette has everything needed if you want to cook. Being a studio flat, you won't find much space here, but with that location, we think you'll be outside more often than not.

Location doesn’t get much better than this in Porto – on a charming shopping street just a couple of streets away from Sao Bento train station. It’s the ideal position to explore the city on foot, with the ancient azulejo-tiled churches and baroque towers punctuating orange-roofed buildings. This studio apartment is a stylish spot to return to after a day exploring downtown Porto. Sometimes a home makes such an impression on us that we’re willing to look past a few flaws, simply because the rest is worth it. Ruby Port is one such home. Honestly, the maintenance needs a bit of work, and the terraces need tidying up, but the place is just so special. From the spectacular views of the Douro River to the beautiful azulejo tiles and the stone fireplace, it has a distinct soul and Porto charm that we simply can't get enough of – it feels like the kind of place we could spend a long time in. Whether you're drinking a chilled glass of Porto wine from the spacious terrace, taking a dip in the private pool or even washing up in the shower, you'll be able to appreciate the lovely views over the water. Inside, light pours in through the patio doors, creating a bright and airy living space to relax. Full of cream furnishings and neutral tones, it's a homely apartment too. Step outside of the building and be in the heart of Porto, and yet you'll find the immediate neighbourhood is quiet and friendly. Walk to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal and Museum Soares dos Reis in under ten minutes. Situated in Praça dos Poveiros, this is the local's go-to gathering place for good food, free-flowing drinks and laughter-packed conversations. There's no shortage of spots here to wine and dine the night away, but that's not the only reason we love this location. You're close to almost everything – stroll three minutes and visit the blue-tiled Igreja de Santo Ildefonso, wander ten to reach Avenida dos Aliados or head down to the riverfront and walk along the Ribeira, thirteen minutes away.

The apartment itself is as cosy as can be. We're swooning over the period features – traditional shuttered windows, high ceilings and crown moulding are just a few of our favourite details. A quaint Juliet balcony overlooks the hustle and bustle below – the perfect spot for a morning coffee – while the comfy sofa beckons after a long day on your feet. If you need to work from home, you can even set up shop at the dining table as the sunlight streams into the living area. While we wouldn't suggest rustling up a feast in the kitchen, it's perfectly suited to lighter bites – and besides, with so many mouth-watering eateries on your doorstep, we doubt you'll get up to much cooking.

This minimalist apartment is great for small groups seeking a comfortable base in one of Porto's hotspots. The small kitchenette is ideal for grab-and-go breakfasts before heading out, and though you'll have to manage two flights of stairs to reach the front door, complimentary essentials await inside to help start your holiday. It's worth noting that one of the bedrooms doesn't have any windows. But, with São Bento metro station a quick stroll away, sightseeing across the city is easy.

You’ll need to climb some stairs to reach this second-floor apartment, so keep that in mind. The third bedroom lacks some privacy, though the sliding doors allow you to partition it off from the living area. And while the dining room doesn’t accommodate all six guests, you'll find plenty of casual eateries, bars and cafes on your doorstep. Location-wise, Porto’s iconic sights, including Bolsa Palace, the Miradouro da Vitória and Mosteiro de São Bento da Vitória are within easy reach.
