With such picturesque scenery, you’ll find yourself stopping for regular glances at the snowy peaks, taking in their changing moods throughout the day. Whether you’re zooming down pristine slopes, or hiking Sound-of-Music-style meadows, returning to this apartment is a treat. Inside, it’s got real Alpine charm, with oak walls, an open-hearth fireplace, rust-red cow print sofas, and plenty of comfy cushions, rugs, and throws. But there’s a modern feel to everything, from sleek kitchen appliances to raw wood panelling in the living room and bedroom. There’s a sauna, steam room and spa in the building, so you can relax your aching muscles after a day on the slopes.

The Hills Are Alive

If it’s the mountain views that attracted you to Leukerbad, then we’ve some good news for you: this apartment serves up stunning vistas over the peaks and hills from its open-plan living area and large private balcony. The space is light and modern, with a comfy leather seating area where you’ll curl up around the open-hearth fireplace and watch a film on the flat-screen TV. In the mornings, you’ll tuck into a light meal at the breakfast bar in the kitchen, while dinners with the family are enjoyed around the eight-seater dining table. Catch the ski bus to one of the eighteen pistes for a day on the slopes and relax at the chalet’s sauna, whirlpool jacuzzi and steam room when you get back. After a day of adventure, we’re sure you’ll get a restful night’s sleep in one of the four comfortable bedrooms, which have their own views out over the mountains.

You will arrive at a bright apartment, kept clean by its white walls and minimalist interior design. Have a lie-in before preparing a traditional breakfast in your spotless kitchen. With a morning coffee in hand, you will enjoy scenic views from this balcony. Later, why not explore a good hiking trail or ascend the slopes by cable car? 

Less than half a mile away from here, you can go water skiing on Lago Maggiore. After that, try cheese fondue in one of the many local restaurants. Access to the mountain runs is as close as the end of your skis from this recently renovated apartment. In fact, you’ll be centrally placed for everything during your stay, with the resort offering all the everyday things you’ll need, like supermarkets and restaurants as well as an energetic après-ski scene so you can keep riding the slope of adrenaline-filled fun into the evening. But sometimes you just want to cast off your ski goggles and relax, and that’s ok too. What this home provides in spades is comfort, cosiness and a place to chill out. Coming in shivering from a day on the slopes? You’ll warm through by the fire in no time. And when you're hankering for a view, you could take a sumptuous faux fur blanket out onto the balcony  – imagine clutching a steaming hot chocolate while you watch the light play on the Matterhorn Glacier. Goggle Lines

Part of a small collection apartments, this home is just the ticket for an escape in the great outdoors. There's a short climb to the front door, which will put you in good stead for the many themed trails and hiking routes in the region. Inside, the wood-panelled walls pair nicely with more modern fittings, including a kitchen that wouldn't feel out of place in the city. The two double bedrooms don't feel cramped, but arguably nothing does when you gaze out on the fields and dramatic mountains from the private balcony. You can also admire the views from the garden and outdoor dining area, with the chalet making for an excellent departure point for hikers.

While this chalet in Rairettes was built in 2013, its wooden walls, arched ceilings and slate roof make it feel quintessentially old-school Swiss.
