In the centre of Vercorin, an idyllic resort at the foot of a mountain, this petite apartment is less than 100 metres from the slopes. In fact, it’s so close, that in the winter you can often ski right up to the building. With a compact but cosy living area and timber bunks for the kids, it’s ideal for a small family. You’ll have use of the resort’s impressive facilities, including the bistro, sauna, steam room, playroom, gaming room and spa. Carve up the slopes by day, with the most incredible views as your backdrop, and come back for a soak in the hot tub before that all important après-ski activity in the bar. Then gather your group in your snug apartment and get the fondue set – borrowed from the resort reception – bubbling. Or if all that hard work on the slopes means you’re not in the mood to cook, just wander down to the bistro and let the chefs look after you.

In the winter, be first on the fresh snow-covered hills for skiing, snowboarding, and tobogganing – there are ski lifts close by to take you up the mountain. Afterwards, warm up in the shared sauna before huddling up on the plush sofa for some real relaxation, or head to one of the local restaurants for some well-deserved raclette.

The Juliette

Settle into mountain life with a stay at this toasty chalet in the much-loved alpine resort of Argentière. With a fabulous location close to the piste and easy access to summer activities, it's a convenient and cosy place to relax between your outdoor adventures. 

Step inside, and you'll find an open-plan space with wood panelling and a warm colour scheme – it's the ideal spot to spend some quality time with your friends or family. Cook up a tasty meal in the kitchen to refuel after a long day, then flop down on the squashy sofa with a good book or your favourite movie. And, when the weather allows, you can head out to the patio to sip a glass of Chablis as you admire the views across to Mont Blanc. 

From here, the Grands Montets ski lifts are just a six-minute walk, meaning you can be one of the first people onto the fresh snow each morning. There is also a cross-country ski area close by, and if you want to drive over to Chamonix then the journey will only take fourteen minutes. And, if you're visiting during the summer months then you can take your pick from rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking and many more activities close by. 

Chalet Chic

Just a stone’s throw from the centre of Zermatt, this modern split-level apartment has plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes minutes from your doorstep. And better still, you’re less than a kilometre to ski lifts and numerous hiking trails. But the real attraction is the view; it’s not every day you get to sip your morning coffee with the Matterhorn as your backdrop. Inside the home, wood-beam ceilings and a warming fire make for a cosy and comfortable stay, while floor-to-ceiling windows, striking cow-hide sofas and a full-bodied red kitchen add a vibrant, modern twist. After a long day on the slopes, sit out on the balcony with a hot cocoa and watch the golden hour illuminate the jagged peaks. Indulge your weary muscles in the hydro massage bath, or don your dressing gown and head down to the shared sauna and Jacuzzi. 

Where Catkins Fall

On a mountain slope, in the heart of picture-perfect Vercorin, sits this chic Alpine home. Part of a shiny new complex, kitted out with a bar, children's play area and a dreamy spa, the apartment itself is a relaxing space with more than a hint of ski lodge charm. Think parquet floors and wood panelling on the walls. The little kitchen area is well-equipped for basic meals, but we think you'll spend many evenings in the on-site restaurant. Here you'll be surrounded by Swiss scenery at its best. It's right on your doorstep, and beautiful at any time of year. In winter there's access to thirteen epic ski runs just a short walk away, and ski storage is included. Visit in the summer when the mountains become lush and green for hiking and mountain biking.

Spruce & Fir

Astounding mountain views through the double-height windows? Check. Sloped roofs and wooden walls? Check. Log-burning fires and a deep tub to soak sore muscles? 100%. This beautiful home in the Swiss Alps has everything we need for a skiing or hiking holiday – and then some. Set high in the mountains, the plot has the most magnificent vistas, we recommend pulling up an armchair or – in summer – a lounger to gawp at mother nature's finest. There's more of those stunning panoramas as you wake up, through French doors, and even when firing up the fondue set in the kitchen. The open-plan living space is where we spend most of our time, with quirky cow-hide dining seats, Swiss-themed armchairs, and access to the balcony and barbecue. Thanks to huge leather sofas and traditional games, it's where we like to end the day too – preferably with a cocktail watching the evening rays light up the peaks.

Falcon On The Pine

There’s something wildly romantic about this home, a traditional chalet on the Swiss mountainside with modern twists – the slate living room wall is a masterpiece. Honey-toned woods and rich leathers create an atmosphere of warmth and light, no matter how much snow adorns the tops of the nearby Alpes Vaudoises, and with the home set over three storeys there’s plenty of space for all of your party to spread out and relax. We particularly love the bathrooms, that seem to test the limits of how stylish you can be in ski region Switzerland. The ski slopes of Villars-Gryon-Diablerets are a five-minute ride away on the free shuttle bus, but we wouldn’t blame you if you chose to spend the entire day sipping local wine on the balcony, soaking in the garden whirlpool, or just admiring that view over the mountains. 

Lady Of The Woods

Smart, straightforward and super comfortable, this home in the scenic resort of Argentière has a south-facing balcony with views across the rooftop and the Mont Blanc peaks. Here you'll have the idyllic feel of a small village but it's just a little more than a ten-minute walk to the cable at Les Grands Montets and a thirteen-minute drive into the heart of fabulous Chamonix.

A modern, first-floor apartment in a traditionally built chalet, this home is all about practicality. And with three bedrooms, one of which has flexible sleeping for up to four, we think it's the perfect choice for a family. Depending on whether you're here for winter sports or summer activities, you can spend evenings cosying up on the soft sofa or outside on the balcony.
