We're loving the bohemian-chic approach to this urban pad, placed in Berlin's traffic-calmed Friedrichshain neighbourhood – where indie boutiques and casual cafes create an alternative, artsy vibe. 

There are three stylish bedrooms with dedicated office spaces in each one, making the home ideal for business trips and friendly get-togethers with one eye on work. Found on the Spree, Rock The Boat offers an experience out of the ordinary (it can even be rented with a crew for an additional touch of luxury). The interiors are masterfully designed by Davide Rizzo, and the attention to detail shows – we loved the cosy fireplace, airy bedrooms, and the collection of antiques decorating every corner. It’s simple really, we can’t say no to a place like this – especially when it involves such stunning and calming views of the water.

Situated in Friedrichshain, this modern apartment is perfectly located for Spree-side strolls and gallery visits. There’s not one balcony here, but two – start the day with breakfast on one and post-sightseeing drinks on the second. While we hope you’ll spend most of your time exploring, there’s a handy desk for remote workers. This spot is in a young and alternative neighbourhood, though if you want to see the inner city’s famous landmarks, you can hop on the U-Bahn from Berlin Ostkreuz – it’s a ten-minute walk away.

Although this home is not the most luxurious, it covers all the basics (washing machine and dryer, fully equipped kitchen, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video). This is a good base in a great location, so if you’re planning on spending your days out and about exploring Berlin, Polar Bear might just be the right fit for you.

If a typical Berlin flat in the heart of trendy Friedrichshain is what you’re after, then Garnet Touch is perfect for you. With a fully equipped kitchen and a small bedroom, we would recommend this home for a single traveller or young couple. It faces the backyard and can therefore be a little dark, but with the nearest train station only 500 metres away and Boxhagener Platz and its weekend food and flea market, we doubt you’ll be spending much time indoors anyway.

Float Away is about as unique as they come, and while it might look like a boat, it’s actually a floating home with no motor. Moored in a beautiful part of Berlin's Citymarina, it’s perfect for guests looking to experience an alternative side of the city – or to escape the hustle and bustle of places like Mitte and Kreuzberg. In asheltered spot overlooking the calm waters of the Spree, we think this one is pretty special.

Needless to say, it’s on the smaller side, but we only think that adds to its charm. Perfect for a couple, it's got everything you could need onboard for a quiet weekend away. If you're lucky with the weather you can even eat outside on the small deck. Or take the short walk to the harbourside restaurant.

Alexander’s home is simply amazing. He’s renovated everything himself, using the structure of the old stables to make something completely unique. A photographer and artist, every single part of this home tells a story – from the many souvenirs to the raw, exposed brickwork. Located right by Boxhagener Platz in Friedrichshain, there’s also plenty to do in the immediate area. A treat for the soul and eyes, The Photographer’s Stable is a home that shouldn't be missed.

The boho style adds another layer of comfort to the bright space, and with a desk per bedroom, it even works for business trips. Once you’ve braved the stairs to reach Airwaves (all five floors), you’re justly rewarded. The flat is small, but it’s been put together wonderfully, with every inch of space used, and used well. The furniture skews vintage, and combined with the pared-back aesthetic, the whole flat feels like a haven, away from the hectic streets below. And those streets can get busy. Friedrichshain has one of the best art and music scenes in Europe, and Airwaves is as good a place as any from which to explore.

Although The Silver Portrait is small (it’s a studio after all), it makes for a comfortable base in Berlin. Located in the pulsating heart of the city, it’s only five minutes away from bustling Alexanderplatz, with some of Berlin’s most famous attractions nearby, too. The building is also rich in history. What used to be a military hospital turned office for the Russian secret service, it’s been transformed into several living units, all elegantly designed and well-equipped.

The Emerald Portrait’s location is its absolute superpower. Located just five minutes away from Alexanderplatz, you’re in the pulsating heart of Berlin with lots to do on your doorstep. The building itself is also rich in history. A former military hospital turned office for the Russian secret service, it now contains several living units, all with elegant bathrooms and comfortable beds. We also love that it has a balcony with charming views of a typical Mitte street.

Set in what used to be a former military hospital/office for the Russian secret service, this now modern apartment is swimming in history. The colour scheme is kept in grey tones for a calm, soothing feel, which we love and the arched windows allow plenty of natural light into the open-plan living space. Cleverly designed, although it’s not big (it’s more of a studio actually), it feels spacious with the great use of a dividing wall in the centre of the room. The exposed brickwork and industrial-chic lighting keep things stylish. Plus, the skyscraper views over Mitte are quite something too. But the real highlight of this home is its enviable location. Almost impossible to beat, Alexanderplatz is very close by (about five minutes away), so you won’t have to walk for long to experience some of Berlin’s most popular attractions – speaking of, the intriguing Museum Island is also less than a fifteen-minute stroll from home.

Your host, Kitty, is an illustrator and this beautiful, luminescent apartment is her studio. We love how she’s transformed it into an elegant living space with more character than you can shake a paintbrush at. From her original art above the bed to her easels and paints sitting alongside an extraordinary collection of books and ornaments, this space is an art lover’s haven and a truly unique way in which to experience the city. The light here, too, is dazzling, pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors that lead out onto a private balcony. Sit here with your morning coffee and one of the many books, and relish the tranquillity of your inner courtyard setting. With a luxurious green-tiled tub (and the bathroom's underfloor heating) to retreat to after a day of exploring Berlin by foot, this home truly offers a canvas for a blissfully relaxing time. Outside of your home, you’ve got the Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood on your doorstep packed with independent eateries, design boutiques, bike rentals, supermarkets, public parks and cosy coffee shops. Visit Mauerpark’s Sunday flea market (a twenty-five-minute walk), check out the KulturBrauerei for hip shops and music clubs (a fifteen-minute walk) or indulge in some retail therapy along trendy Kastanienallee and Alte Schönhauser Allee (both a twenty-minute stroll). Arthur is an architect – his love of the craft and the building’s rich history is evident in the beautiful renovation. If that’s not enough for you, it’s also located in Kreuzberg, a neighbourhood known for its lively atmosphere and abundance of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

Offering pretty views of the courtyard below, this is your very own secluded sanctuary from Mitte's hustle and bustle. After a restful slumber, spend mornings perched here, coffee cup in hand, enjoying the peace and quiet, before slipping out for breakfast. For baked goods and coffee, we recommend Zeit für Brot, five minutes away on foot and conveniently located next to Weinberg Park, a beautiful spot for picnics.

Filled with artistic flair and character, you're guaranteed to feel inspired with creativity when wandering around this open-plan apartment.

Considering its placement in Berlin's Mitte district, which is steeped in history and culture, you'll feel right at home in the neighbourhood. Locations don't come much more central to Berlin than the lively Mitte area, so you'll be glad to know there are endless experiences and sights at your doorstep. A twelve-minute wander will take you to Hackescher Höfe – a must-see maze of Art Nouveau courtyards made up of designer shops, restaurants, cafes and incredible street art – while a twenty-four-minute stroll will bring you to Museum Island, which comprises five museums for the history buffs to enjoy.

Found right by the Spree, The Greenery is in an excellent location. You’re within walking distance to many of Berlin’s cultural offerings (Museum Island is only twenty minutes away), along with lots of famous night clubs (if that’s your thing). The living room feels incredibly lively – we loved the abundance of tropical green plants and host Paul’s attention to detail. And the kitchen is wonderful too – we can only imagine the kind of delicious meals that you’ll want to cook while staying in this home.

Designed in a modern Japandi style, this centrally located apartment is ideal for those looking for a calm stay within easy reach of the city’s most notable sights. While one guest will need to sleep on the sofa bed at full capacity, a Sonos sound system, a coffee and matcha station and a courtyard-facing bedroom are nice touches here that caught our eye. And the dedicated desk space makes this quiet home perfect for those needing to work remotely. You won’t find a TV here, but you’ll hardly notice given the countless things to see and do nearby, including Mauerpark, the Wasserturm Prenzlauer Berg and plenty of public transport options to take you to all corners of the city.

At First Sight makes for a wonderful escape. Tucked away on a typical Prenzlauer Berg street, it offers gorgeous and calming views of an inner courtyard. The immediate area is relatively quiet, but it’s well-connected to some of the neighbourhood’s busier spots. We love how personal it feels – all the way from the Persian rugs and artwork by the host’s brother, to the delicate pops of colour and the luxurious wine fridge. The hosts are charming and are beyond excited to share their Berlin sanctuary with you.

At First Sight

Located in a former jelly factory turned art gallery turned apartment, this loft is very special indeed. Your host, Arthur, is an architect and he has poured his heart and soul into this place. With high ceilings, Danish furniture, a balcony facing the Spree and walls filled with Arthur’s own photography, it’s a must if you’re looking for a stylish base from which to explore Berlin. Begin mornings on the L-shaped couch with a freshly brewed coffee before serving up a traditional German breakfast in the dining area. When you’re ready to explore, you’ll find the Wall Museum a fifteen-minute walk from your doorstep. It’ll take you eighteen minutes on the bus to reach Treptower Park – a local favourite for picnics in the summertime. To dive into the city’s history, catch the U-Bahn to Checkpoint Charlie and Brandenburger Tor. And when evening falls, hang about in your trendy Kreuzberg locale – it’s filled with lively restaurants, bars and hidden nightlife spots.

Those who are particular about their design will fall head over heels for this penthouse apartment. For a start, the exterior is rather unique, as it's a new wooden development adapted respectfully on top of an industrial building dating back to 1905. The interior is a shining beacon of clean minimalism, in which every item has been selected carefully for maximum impact. The artwork on the walls, for example, is curated by different galleries and artists, and, as such, changes quite regularly. The kitchen, too, has been hidden away in a cabinet, so there's nothing but sleek white walls when it's not in use, and the linens are made from pure organic cotton. Sustainability is at the core of every piece of furniture and fixture within this home, with each piece carefully selected to have minimal environmental impact. Out through the glass doors — which are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light — you'll find the roof terrace, on which there's plenty of seating and a range of plants chosen for their fragrances, from bedstraw and thyme to wall pepper. Located in the quieter north of the Mitte district, there are lots of green spaces and historical curiosities to be found nearby, including the Silent Green Kulturquartier three minutes' walk away and Humbolthain state park only a quarter of an hour away.

It’s easy to see that Photographic Memory is a cherished home. Brimming with plants, personal trinkets, and artworks made by a friend of the host’s grandmother, you can sense the calmness and love as soon as you step through the front door. While it’s not in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, it's only five minutes away from Mauerpark. And there are also plenty of eateries, cosy coffee shops and design boutiques within walking distance.

This stylish apartment has a distinct 1960s feel to it. And the best of all, you ask? It’s all happening inside a charming Altbau, with high ceilings and big windows galore. Natural light pours into the spacious communal areas and bedrooms, combing with a mint green colour scheme and an abundance of luscious houseplants to create a calm and breathable apartment to unwind. For those keeping one eye on work during their stay, you'll notice a light-filled desk space to set up a home office. Full of funky patterns, retro tiled flooring and chic decor, you'll find the sociable open-plan space a great spot to hang out with friends and family after a day spent sightseeing around Berlin. Better still, step out onto the private balcony with a glass of something bubbly and watch how the locals go about their daily lives below. The location is as central as it gets, with Alexanderplatz just around the corner (about five minutes on foot) – and if you feel like exploring Museum Island, it’s less than a short fifteen-minute stroll from this crowd-pleasing pad.

From the funky wallpaper to vegan soaps, everything’s curated with great attention to detail. We also love the eclectic mix of romantic vintage furniture, Oriental-style trinkets, and fun, flamboyant colour accents.

Donja is an artist, so it’s no wonder that Flashdance has an artistic flair. Located in charming Prenzlauer Berg, it’s one of those homes that appears a lot bigger than it actually is, largely due to its light colour palette and sophisticated design solutions. The minimalist kitchen is great for cooking breakfast before a day of sightseeing – it is worth noting that there’s no oven or microwave. And as an added bonus, Donja displays some of her own artworks in this home too.

With a funky mix of global influences, The Ventriloquist is Berlin chic to the bone. It’s easy to see that a lot of time and effort has been put into picking the right decorations – from the safari-style wall decorations to the tribal print rugs. There’s also a projector screen in the living room, encouraging you to stay in, slow down and watch a film. The immediate area might be a little too touristy for some, but there are also plenty of nearby places we love – one of them being Weinberg Park, the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon.

Nestled in the central downtown area of the historic city of Berlin, this home is perfect for guests looking to go out and explore this amazing city. The apartment itself boasts a wonderfully artsy atmosphere, featuring the creative works of local Berlin artists that really are a treat to behold, with many being pieces you can purchase and bring back. Step through the front door to be welcomed by fresh, open spaces, comfortable and welcoming furniture, and a sense of the genuine love that has gone into this home.

As the apartment is close to Berlin Nordbahnhof, guests are extremely well-connected to the rest of the city, and is perfect for those preferring to use public transport, which we have to admit is the ideal way to travel during a city escape. After breakfast and the day's first crisp cup of coffee, head out to experience Berlin culture and life at its finest, with visits to Museum Island, the iconic Berlin Wall, and Brandenburg Gate, while a day spent in the city centre shopping, sightseeing, and sampling delicious local delicacies can have you out from dusk 'til dawn. We highly recommend trying the local schnitzel with a hearty pint of Hofbrau Oktoberfest.

Show and Tell is one of those homes that’s brimming with charisma. From the high ceilings to the vintage mid-century furniture and Moroccan style tiles, small treasures are hiding around every corner waiting to be found. A family home to the bone, it also houses a piano (great for playing cheery tunes) and a stylish children’s bedroom with bunk beds. Moments away from Volkspark Friedrichshain, you’re in an attractive part of Berlin that’s full of soul.

Pull up a blue velvet chair to the dining table and tuck into a traditional German breakfast or munch on a brötchen in the fresh air on your private balcony. Grab a coffee-to-go from a nearby café and take the leisurely thirty-minute stroll to Museum Island. Or, hop on the S-Bahn for five minutes to the unmistakable Brandenburg Gate and leafy Tiergarten – perfect for picnics in the sunshine.

Sage looks like it’s stuck in a bohemian moment of the 1960s – and we're here for it. Positively brimming with retro furniture, hip artwork, and a vibrant colour palette, it’s like breathing in a breath of fresh air. We love that all of this is happening inside an old Altbau building, with big windows and high ceilings, allowing plenty of natural light to stream through the large bedrooms and spacious communal areas. It's a real crowd-pleasing home, with three brightly coloured bedrooms, each with their own eclectic prints, funky patterns and green houseplants. Set against the backdrop of Mitte, it’s in an excellent location for exploring too. Alexanderplatz is around the corner (a five-minute walk away) – and if you feel like exploring Museum Island, it’s less than fifteen minutes from home by foot.

With its high ceilings and big windows, this home has a typical Berliner Altbau vibe. It’s located in Prenzlauer Berg, so you’re in good hands when it comes to things to do – there are plenty of restaurants, bars, and coffee shops close by. One of our favourite parks, Mauerpark, is also just around the corner. It’s worth noting that it’s a studio – so it’s definitely on the smaller side. But it’s well-equipped for a comfortable stay, especially if you’re looking to stay in a bustling neighbourhood.

With an abundance of coworking spaces, quirky cafes and art galleries nearby, this home near Rosenthaler Platz is certainly in a lively neighbourhood. Ideal for groups of friends or families, the kitchen is well-equipped, the bathroom is fresh and functional, and the bedrooms are airy and bright. It's not bursting with character, but it does have plenty of design strengths like the funky kaleidoscope artwork, the sunny den leading onto the little balcony and, of course, the wonderful views.

An interesting fact about this apartment building is that the Berlin Wall would have run straight through when it was up. As such, it's a great location to see both sides of the city's history and you've got a great vantage point from the top floor balcony, which faces towards Mauerpark. Turning your back on the skyline for a moment, you'll be greeted by a bright and modern home full of fascinating curios — the intricately carved wooden bed in the master bedroom, for instance, came from a Buddhist Temple in Bali and there's abstract artwork hung on the walls that will have you stroking your chin.
