In true Kreuzberg fashion, the door to Orange Blossom is full of colourful graffiti. Inside, however, it’s a calm space filled with green plants, beautiful antiques and an extensive book collection. We fell in love with the Italian granite kitchen counter as soon as we saw it, and we adore how inviting and communal the kitchen is. Located in Wrangelkiez, you’re right across the street from Görlitzer Park, and you’re also within walking distance to some of Berlin’s hippest spots.

This home is pretty minimalist, modern, super bright, and comes with colourful touches. Due to the bunk bed and the quiet location, it’s especially well-suited for a family visiting Berlin. And you’ll be happy to hear that it’s located within trendy Prenzlauer Berg, a kid-friendly Berlin neighbourhood with plenty of cool things to do.

Set in what used to be a former military hospital/office for the Russian secret service, this now modern apartment is swimming in history. The colour scheme is kept in grey tones for a calm, soothing feel, which we love and the arched windows allow plenty of natural light into the open-plan living space. Cleverly designed, although it’s not big (it’s more of a studio actually), it feels spacious with the great use of a dividing wall in the centre of the room. The exposed brickwork and industrial-chic lighting keep things stylish. Plus, the skyscraper views over Mitte are quite something too. But the real highlight of this home is its enviable location. Almost impossible to beat, Alexanderplatz is very close by (about five minutes away), so you won’t have to walk for long to experience some of Berlin’s most popular attractions – speaking of, the intriguing Museum Island is also less than a fifteen-minute stroll from home.

Found right by the Spree, The Greenery is in an excellent location. You’re within walking distance to many of Berlin’s cultural offerings (Museum Island is only twenty minutes away), along with lots of famous night clubs (if that’s your thing). The living room feels incredibly lively – we loved the abundance of tropical green plants and host Paul’s attention to detail. And the kitchen is wonderful too – we can only imagine the kind of delicious meals that you’ll want to cook while staying in this home.

Your host, Kitty, is an illustrator and this beautiful, luminescent apartment is her studio. We love how she’s transformed it into an elegant living space with more character than you can shake a paintbrush at. From her original art above the bed to her easels and paints sitting alongside an extraordinary collection of books and ornaments, this space is an art lover’s haven and a truly unique way in which to experience the city. The light here, too, is dazzling, pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors that lead out onto a private balcony. Sit here with your morning coffee and one of the many books, and relish the tranquillity of your inner courtyard setting. With a luxurious green-tiled tub (and the bathroom's underfloor heating) to retreat to after a day of exploring Berlin by foot, this home truly offers a canvas for a blissfully relaxing time. Outside of your home, you’ve got the Prenzlauer Berg neighbourhood on your doorstep packed with independent eateries, design boutiques, bike rentals, supermarkets, public parks and cosy coffee shops. Visit Mauerpark’s Sunday flea market (a twenty-five-minute walk), check out the KulturBrauerei for hip shops and music clubs (a fifteen-minute walk) or indulge in some retail therapy along trendy Kastanienallee and Alte Schönhauser Allee (both a twenty-minute stroll). Locations don't come much more central to Berlin than the lively Mitte area, so you'll be glad to know there are endless experiences and sights at your doorstep. A twelve-minute wander will take you to Hackescher Höfe – a must-see maze of Art Nouveau courtyards made up of designer shops, restaurants, cafes and incredible street art – while a twenty-four-minute stroll will bring you to Museum Island, which comprises five museums for the history buffs to enjoy.

Located in a former jelly factory turned art gallery turned apartment, this loft is very special indeed. Your host, Arthur, is an architect and he has poured his heart and soul into this place. With high ceilings, Danish furniture, a balcony facing the Spree and walls filled with Arthur’s own photography, it’s a must if you’re looking for a stylish base from which to explore Berlin. Begin mornings on the L-shaped couch with a freshly brewed coffee before serving up a traditional German breakfast in the dining area. When you’re ready to explore, you’ll find the Wall Museum a fifteen-minute walk from your doorstep. It’ll take you eighteen minutes on the bus to reach Treptower Park – a local favourite for picnics in the summertime. To dive into the city’s history, catch the U-Bahn to Checkpoint Charlie and Brandenburger Tor. And when evening falls, hang about in your trendy Kreuzberg locale – it’s filled with lively restaurants, bars and hidden nightlife spots.

At the exact point where Kreuzberg meets Neukölln, we find The Blue Angel. Kreuzkölln, as the locals call it, is a blend of multiple identities - there’s the multicultural atmosphere, the hipster bars, and a mix of both expensive abodes and rundown buildings. The Blue Angel embodies all of it with its high ceilings and original plaster details paired with contemporary photo prints and vintage furniture in the kitchen.

Those who are particular about their design will fall head over heels for this penthouse apartment. For a start, the exterior is rather unique, as it's a new wooden development adapted respectfully on top of an industrial building dating back to 1905. The interior is a shining beacon of clean minimalism, in which every item has been selected carefully for maximum impact. The artwork on the walls, for example, is curated by different galleries and artists, and, as such, changes quite regularly. The kitchen, too, has been hidden away in a cabinet, so there's nothing but sleek white walls when it's not in use, and the linens are made from pure organic cotton. Sustainability is at the core of every piece of furniture and fixture within this home, with each piece carefully selected to have minimal environmental impact. Out through the glass doors — which are nothing but generous when it comes to natural light — you'll find the roof terrace, on which there's plenty of seating and a range of plants chosen for their fragrances, from bedstraw and thyme to wall pepper. Located in the quieter north of the Mitte district, there are lots of green spaces and historical curiosities to be found nearby, including the Silent Green Kulturquartier three minutes' walk away and Humbolthain state park only a quarter of an hour away.

Making Waves is one of a kind. Situated just behind Berlin’s cluster of galleries, it’s also within walking distance to the architectural masterpiece that is Gleisdreieck Park. On top of being fully equipped (the kitchen is a particular favourite of ours), we also love how stylish it is. Much of the furniture is custom made for the space, and it has a tranquil atmosphere that we can’t get over. As a bonus, it has Sonos speakers in every single room – this includes the bathroom for all the people who enjoy a good sing along session in the shower.

Making Waves

Designed in a modern Japandi style, this centrally located apartment is ideal for those looking for a calm stay within easy reach of the city’s most notable sights. While one guest will need to sleep on the sofa bed at full capacity, a Sonos sound system, a coffee and matcha station and a courtyard-facing bedroom are nice touches here that caught our eye. And the dedicated desk space makes this quiet home perfect for those needing to work remotely. You won’t find a TV here, but you’ll hardly notice given the countless things to see and do nearby, including Mauerpark, the Wasserturm Prenzlauer Berg and plenty of public transport options to take you to all corners of the city. 


The Zen Tree

This stylish apartment has a distinct 1960s feel to it. And the best of all, you ask? It’s all happening inside a charming Altbau, with high ceilings and big windows galore. Natural light pours into the spacious communal areas and bedrooms, combing with a mint green colour scheme and an abundance of luscious houseplants to create a calm and breathable apartment to unwind. For those keeping one eye on work during their stay, you'll notice a light-filled desk space to set up a home office. Full of funky patterns, retro tiled flooring and chic decor, you'll find the sociable open-plan space a great spot to hang out with friends and family after a day spent sightseeing around Berlin. Better still, step out onto the private balcony with a glass of something bubbly and watch how the locals go about their daily lives below. The location is as central as it gets, with Alexanderplatz just around the corner (about five minutes on foot) – and if you feel like exploring Museum Island, it’s less than a short fifteen-minute stroll from this crowd-pleasing pad.

With a funky mix of global influences, The Ventriloquist is Berlin chic to the bone. It’s easy to see that a lot of time and effort has been put into picking the right decorations – from the safari-style wall decorations to the tribal print rugs. There’s also a projector screen in the living room, encouraging you to stay in, slow down and watch a film. The immediate area might be a little too touristy for some, but there are also plenty of nearby places we love – one of them being Weinberg Park, the perfect spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon.

We love this home's thoughtful design aesthetic. Perched on the top floor, its open-plan layout boasts a loft-style charm adorned with vibrant artwork, stylish decor and high-end appliances. Every aspect of this home promises a want-for-nothing stay, from the fully-fitted kitchen and rooftop dining terrace to the high-end entertainment set-up, complete with a projector and sound system for those cosy movie nights in.

Throughout, it's a timeless canvas of white walls, oak parquet floors and large south-facing windows, ushering sunlight to flood the space. Spend mornings roosted on one of the four terraces and balconies, sipping coffee before slipping out to grab brunch - we recommend Silo, a two-minute walk away.

The apartment itself boasts a wonderfully artsy atmosphere, featuring the creative works of local Berlin artists that really are a treat to behold, with many being pieces you can purchase and bring back. Step through the front door to be welcomed by fresh, open spaces, comfortable and welcoming furniture, and a sense of the genuine love that has gone into this home.

As the apartment is close to Berlin Nordbahnhof, guests are extremely well-connected to the rest of the city, and is perfect for those preferring to use public transport, which we have to admit is the ideal way to travel during a city escape. After breakfast and the day's first crisp cup of coffee, head out to experience Berlin culture and life at its finest, with visits to Museum Island, the iconic Berlin Wall, and Brandenburg Gate, while a day spent in the city centre shopping, sightseeing, and sampling delicious local delicacies can have you out from dusk 'til dawn. We highly recommend trying the local schnitzel with a hearty pint of Hofbrau Oktoberfest.

If you're looking for a well-connected spot in the heart of Berlin, this comfortable apartment provides optimal space for a convenient stay. Upstairs, you'll love the bright, lofty feel of the home, thanks to the high ceilings and dual aspect windows, and the quiet courtyard-facing bedrooms to help bank a peaceful night's sleep. Over in the main living space, the massive dining table is the perfect spot to come together for lazy breakfasts as you hatch plans for the day ahead. And the daily housekeeping will keep things spick and span while you're out and about – which we suspect you'll be doing rather a lot of here. There's a myriad of great bistros, street food, and bakeries in the streets below, all within walking distance. Or hop on one of the city bikes, handily parked right outside the apartment building, for a morning's jaunt over the river to Tiergarten Park for picnicking and frisbee tossing - it's the local's favourite place to be.

The living area is generous enough to entertain you and a couple of friends, while the large couch with footstool calls for relaxing under a blanket after a busy day exploring your buzzy Mitte neighbourhood. Pull up a blue velvet chair to the dining table and tuck into a traditional German breakfast or munch on a brötchen in the fresh air on your private balcony. Grab a coffee-to-go from a nearby café and take the leisurely thirty-minute stroll to Museum Island. Or, hop on the S-Bahn for five minutes to the unmistakable Brandenburg Gate and leafy Tiergarten – perfect for picnics in the sunshine.

Audiophile

It’s easy to see that Photographic Memory is a cherished home. Brimming with plants, personal trinkets, and artworks made by a friend of the host’s grandmother, you can sense the calmness and love as soon as you step through the front door. While it’s not in the heart of Prenzlauer Berg, it's only five minutes away from Mauerpark. And there are also plenty of eateries, cosy coffee shops and design boutiques within walking distance.

Photographic Memory

Dry Humour is one of a kind. Located inside what used to be a brewery, the building is steeped in history. We adore the high ceilings and arched windows, both of which remind us of a different time. It also comes with a kitchen that’s very clearly made for cooking – the butcher’s block countertop is as cool as it is practical. The immediate area is on the more peaceful side, but you’re only a ten-minute walk from some of Berlin’s most charming hangouts – including Viktoriapark (one of our favourite parks in the city).

Dry Humour

Sage looks like it’s stuck in a bohemian moment of the 1960s – and we're here for it. Positively brimming with retro furniture, hip artwork, and a vibrant colour palette, it’s like breathing in a breath of fresh air. We love that all of this is happening inside an old Altbau building, with big windows and high ceilings, allowing plenty of natural light to stream through the large bedrooms and spacious communal areas. It's a real crowd-pleasing home, with three brightly coloured bedrooms, each with their own eclectic prints, funky patterns and green houseplants. Set against the backdrop of Mitte, it’s in an excellent location for exploring too. Alexanderplatz is around the corner (a five-minute walk away) – and if you feel like exploring Museum Island, it’s less than fifteen minutes from home by foot.

At First Sight makes for a wonderful escape. Tucked away on a typical Prenzlauer Berg street, it offers gorgeous and calming views of an inner courtyard. The immediate area is relatively quiet, but it’s well-connected to some of the neighbourhood’s busier spots. We love how personal it feels – all the way from the Persian rugs and artwork by the host’s brother, to the delicate pops of colour and the luxurious wine fridge. The hosts are charming and are beyond excited to share their Berlin sanctuary with you.

At First Sight

We're loving the bohemian-chic approach to this urban pad, placed in Berlin's traffic-calmed Friedrichshain neighbourhood – where indie boutiques and casual cafes create an alternative, artsy vibe. 

There are three stylish bedrooms with dedicated office spaces in each one, making the home ideal for business trips and friendly get-togethers with one eye on work. Stylish decorative details are everywhere to be seen, with intentional yet minimalist decor creating a relaxed atmosphere. Gather the group together for some German apple pancakes in the sleek communal area as you hatch out the day's plan. 

With so much to see and do, make sure you factor in less work and a lot more play to your stay here. We recommend starting with a half-hour walk through the surrounding area to the historic East Side Gallery, before hopping on the metro to sprawling Kreuzberg – beloved by students and locals alike for its quirky thrift shops, cafe culture and landscaped Viktoriapark – twenty-eight minutes from your apartment. 

Work It Out

Adventurous. Nostalgic. Sophisticated. The Ivory Empress is all of that and more. Set in a building from the 1900s, its history is celebrated by the light colour palette, gorgeous wooden floors and magnificent works of art. It’s easy to see that the host has an eye for design – most things are sourced from flea markets, with each piece of art and furniture telling a story. Located right on the border between Kreuzberg and Neukölln in a neighbourhood the locals call Kreuzkölln, this five-bedroom home is in a place where hipster coffee shops meet multicultural Berlin.

The Ivory Empress

With a bohemian 1960s flair and lots of colours, Rosemary is a cool blast from the past. Chic and retro, it’s got lots of character – and we love that it still manages to feel very personal. As there are no windows in the kitchen, this room can get a little dark, but luckily, the living room makes up for it with its luminous Altbau windows and beautiful high ceilings. Just five minutes away from Alexanderplatz, you’re in a wonderful location if you’re looking to explore Berlin’s sights.

While this home is small, we promise it’ll make for a comfortable base. With a hotel-like style, the building is from 2016, which means that it feels incredibly modern and streamlined. The location is excellent – it’s within walking distance to many of Berlin’s most popular attractions, like Checkpoint Charlie, and Museum Island. You’ll also find an abundance of restaurants and coffee shops that are worth checking out.

Inside a beautifully renovated 1920s building, we find Café Electric. It’s located at the exact point where Neukölln and Kreuzberg meet, a micro-neighbourhood that the locals call Kreuzkölln. Even though it’s a small space on paper, we don’t get that impression once we step into the luminous living room that feels a little like a tree house. It's complete with cosy sofas and a mix of unique art and design lamps, and it's also got a nice collection of board games that makes for a fun night in.

With an abundance of coworking spaces, quirky cafes and art galleries nearby, this home near Rosenthaler Platz is certainly in a lively neighbourhood. Ideal for groups of friends or families, the kitchen is well-equipped, the bathroom is fresh and functional, and the bedrooms are airy and bright. It's not bursting with character, but it does have plenty of design strengths like the funky kaleidoscope artwork, the sunny den leading onto the little balcony and, of course, the wonderful views.
