Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands.

This villa in southern Spain is set up for big group get-togethers or family gatherings. It’s packed with ways to stay entertained, both indoors and outdoors. Let’s start with the outdoors. A Roman-style swimming pool invites you for a dip to cool off from the heat, and a porticoed veranda runs the length of the villa, providing shaded lounges and outdoor dining for the group. When the magenta bougainvillaea is in bloom, the facade of this villa is simply stunning. You’ve got another terrace up on the first floor, filled with boho furnishings facing the sea view. To top it all off, a rooftop terrace catches the sun during the day.

Stepping inside, the fun continues with a dedicated cinema room – perfect for families – and a wine cellar to store the Riojas. The cosy main living room embraces the feel of an old Spanish farmhouse, with comfy sofas sitting beneath dark wood beams and an old brick fireplace in the corner. This opens up to the dining room, and double doors lead straight onto the terrace too. For those that need to work remotely, there’s an office room with a desk where arched windows look out over the sea. Speaking of which, bedrooms across the villa come in all shapes and sizes, and some have a spectacular sea view from big windows.

Location-wise, there are a handful of local restaurants within easy walking distance. The coast here is dotted with secluded bays and dramatic coves, which can be explored by car or perhaps even by boat.

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

This beachfront apartment offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea, Playa Poniente and Benidorm’s skyline. With three bedrooms and a sofa bed in the living space, sleeping arrangements are flexible here, making it an excellent choice for families or groups of friends. Underfloor heating means it’s a comfortable place to relax during the cooler months, but if you’re visiting during the height of summer, take advantage of the pool, terrace and direct access to the sand. White-pillared and glass-fronted, this spectacular villa juts out of the mountain like a princess-cut diamond on a gold band. Sharp lines and clean spaces characterise this modern home, from the cavernous living room with its all-cream furniture and UFO-shaped skylights to the bright bedrooms. Artwork, in stark contrast, is bold with huge colourful prints hung in each room. We won't be surprised if you miss all those details, however, as it's the views that will have you enraptured. Looking out over the Mediterranean ocean, the home has floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted panoramas – from the master bed when you wake up to your mid-afternoon soak in the standalone bathtub. Head out for a closer inspection, with a blue infinity pool to make you feel like you're floating, while the upstairs balcony is unbeatable for watching the sunset.

Immediately, this home is a sight to behold. An impressive contemporary design of sharp edges and white stone stands bold against pine-clad hillside. Inside, light and airy bedrooms are maximised by enormous sliding doors that open out onto a wrap-around balcony. Downstairs, the open-plan living space exudes sophisticated minimalism. Clean, simple lines flow onto the terrace, where you're greeted with a burst of technicolour. The pool, sky and ocean on the horizon shimmer in all shades of blue, while the garden blooms a verdant green. Bring up a bottle of red from the wine cellar and sit out in the sun on a lounger or around the dining table, snacking on cured meats and chatting about nothing in particular. The charming town of Xàbia is just a ten-minute drive away – here you can deliberate between restaurants that serve the best of Spanish cuisine before heading home to catch a pastel sunset. No matter which spot you choose, indoor or outdoor, the views across the landscape are second to none.
