This single-storey villa is set within a wooded and residential beach area in the neighborhood of Cabo de la Nao and is a great choice for a romantic getaway. The decor is a little dated and basic but it has all the necessary amenities for a comfortable self-catered stay – and the mountain views are breathtaking. Take a dip in the large private pool, fire up the BBQ for lunch on the terrace, or bask in the Spanish sun on the furnished balcony. While you can explore the local area on foot, we recommend a car for ease – the coastal town of Javea is less than 5km from the villa and its port is well worth a visit.

Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. If you’re feeling curious, take the twenty-minute drive to Parc Natural del Montgó for stunning hiking routes or catch the ferry from the port to the dazzling Balearic Islands.

Just a three minute walk to the nearest sandy beach of Arenal, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing somewhere for dinner, a morning coffee, or a glass of sangria as you watch the world go by. There is also a rocky beach just a stone's throw from the apartment, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

Being situated on a resort, this home is tailor-made for the family. When you're not lounging on the beach you'll likely be splashing around in the communal pool. The kids even have their own children's pool to enjoy. But when you don't want to get wet, why not admire from afar? With two balconies to utilise at this home, you'll always have wonderful views of turqoise waters and swaying palm trees to look at. We particularly like the master bedroom's private balcony, which will definitely be your go-to for a romantic sangria after the kids have gone to bed.

The picturesque historic town of Javea, with its fine sandy shores and water sport action, is within five kilometres of the villa – as are those seafront restaurants and bars for an easy bite to eat. And you’ll all appreciate those shady terraces with views of the surrounding Montgo Mountain when it’s time to beat the heat. And there’s no need to tussle for the best room here – each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and direct access to those stylish verandas outside.

This spacious and well-located villa is a good option for a family or group of friends wanting to holiday in Denia, Costa Blanca. There's a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable living room area to relax in – albeit a little dated in terms of decor. Equipped for all seasons, there's a fireplace for cooler evenings and air conditioning for the summer months. We love the lawned gardens surrounding this family-friendly home – they boast superb sea and mountain views and include a large private pool and BBQ area too. While you can explore the local area on foot, we suggest a car for ease – Parc Natural del Montgó is less than 2km from the villa.

Waves & Water

This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

The Spanish Riviera

Located in a popular destination in the eastern part of Spain, this home is the perfect base for a beach holiday. The sand and sea are a five-minute drive away, or if you want to make sure you hit your 10,000 steps a day, it’s a half hour walk. In classic resort town style, you’ll find a disco, local eateries, and places to practice your salsa moves nearby. If you want to hole up and not leave the apartment, you'll find plenty to keep you entertained. From the flat-screen TV to the large garden and your very own private pool, there is every chance you'll stay put. After practicing your strokes in the pool, fire-up the barbecue for lunch on the shaded terrace. Feeling tired? The locals strongly believe in a siesta, and we can't agree with the concept more. Featuring a lovely, light filled open plan kitchen cum dining and living room, courtesy of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which open out onto a cosy courtyard, this artful home boasts both style and substance. Nods to the nautical meet whitewashed walls and windows shutters while brand spanking new cabinetry meets worn wooden furniture, woven basket lights and colourful framed prints. 

Undoubtedly the star of the show, however, is the interior courtyard, with its traditional Tosca stone walls and Spanish style tiled floor – the perfect relaxing retreat come morning, noon or night. You’ll love rising early to catch the sunrise before taking your morning coffee out into the courtyard. Host cook offs and gather around the dining table for sociable meal times or head out for hours of sun-baked fun at the beach before meandering along to one of the many local seaside cafes for fresh food and uninterrupted Mediterranean views.

We love how well-positioned this apartment is. You’re just a short walk from the sands of Platja de l'Arenal – pick up a few delicacies and enjoy a picnic on the beach or sample the local cuisine from one of the town’s authentic sea-grazing tavernas.

Sure, this apartment in the heart of Javea might be a little simple when it comes to interior design, but people don't come to this corner of Spain to be wowed by home decor – not when there's a wealth of exemplary beaches, hiking routes and seafront restaurants that lie within easy walking distance to explore. That's not to say you'll dread returning home, however. For instance, the balcony – while small – has a rather charming view of the town's port and the Mediterranean Sea stretching into the distance.

A Spanish Retreat

This apartment is nestled on the coast of the historic Javea, a short walk from the sea. The central location means parking will be tricky, but you'll be close to public transport. You'll want to pack light here – the home is small, but has everything needed for a fuss-free stay. We especially like the private balcony, which offers natural light and enough space to sit out with a drink. If you want a base for exploring the town and coastline, you can't get much closer to the action.

The historic town of Javea, with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars, is a 10km drive away and if you fancy eating in, your host can help arrange a cooking service so you won’t have to lift a finger.

Further away, you'll find spectacular days out in the bustling city of Alicante and its beautiful beaches.
