Smack bang in the heart of delightful Dénia, this no-fuss apartment is perfect for couples or solo travellers looking for some rest and relaxation on the Costa Blanca. Inside, the place strikes a balance between comfort and function. There’s a compact kitchen equipped for quick meals and a quiet bedroom to ensure a peaceful sleep night after night. But it was the view that was our favourite part. We could’ve spent hours on that modular chair, watching the palm trees sway and the boats to and fro from the harbour, only breaking our gaze to open a bottle of Rioja as the sun sets. Spend mornings exploring your locale – you’re a ten-minute walk from the Dénia Castle and eighteen minutes from the Marineta Casiana Beach. This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

Leading right onto the golden sands of Playa de Levante, stroll out onto the beach, where you can position yourself for a morning of Mediterranean sun and fresh air. 

Meander back to your apartment, grab a takeaway pizza at a local restaurant, and enjoy lunch at the dining table with the salty air breezing through the gaping doors. The star of the show is the swimming pool area though, which has palm trees dotted all around looking like they're part of a tropical chess board. We guarantee you'll be spending your afternoons here splashing around and making memories under the swaying palms.

The inside of the home itself is a lovely blend of modern furnishings mixed with traditional features. You probably won't be spending much of your time inside on the hot days, but during the cold nights, you can look forward to snuggling up around the lounge woodburner while sharing stories. When looking to venture outside of this wonderful home, you'll be glad to know you're in a prime location to take advantage of the area. It won't take you long to be swimming in the Meditteranean – Guardamar del Segura beach is only 13km away. Trips into the city of Murcia are a must too. It's not too far by car, and when you're there, you'll be able to wander its historic streets and admire its beautiful architecture. Murcia is a great day out for the whole family.

There is also a rocky beach just a stone's throw from the apartment, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

Nestled in a quiet spot in Altea, this villa has a private pool, three floors and two terraces to stretch your legs on. While some of the furnishings might be a little dated, the views from the bedrooms' balconies are fantastic.  The outdoor amenities make this home shine, with a lush garden to tire out the kids, sunbeds for the grown-ups, and alfresco dining facilities. Altea la Vieja is a brisk twenty-minute walk from your doorstep, known for its restaurants and golf course.

Marina Alta is a coastal region that can please just about everyone  – from history buffs to beach bums, and hikers to urbanites, this region of Spain isn’t just all about waterside delights. Just a ten-minute drive inland from the picturesque town of Altea (and don’t worry, you will pass beaches en route), you’ll love unwinding in this zen-like villa. 

Traditional whitewashed walls and a terracotta roof are right on par with what you might expect in the area. But as you step inside, passing interesting shrubbery and succulents outside, the vibe is altogether more modern. We love the fresh and bright living space, with a cherry-red sofa suite and an ornately carved, wooden cabinet. Oversized bamboo canes and a woven lampshade complete the look as you move to the sunroom – a striking cylindrical structure that really sets the architecture apart from rustic traditions.

From here, peer out to your secluded gardens. Lush, green, and shaded by palms, the immaculate lawn surrounds a private, heated pool. Wander around to find orange trees popping up in the grass, and terracotta tiles leading up a staircase to the roof terrace – it's much easier to survey your kingdom from up here.

Whether you're splashing in the private pool, tucking into an alfresco feast on the covered terrace or lounging with a book in the sun, this bright villa on the outskirts of Jávea promises plenty of rest, relaxation and fun. With two living areas, three bedrooms, a glossy kitchen and a lovely terrace fit for entertaining, there's more than enough space here to make yourself at home. Start the day with a coffee on the outdoor sofa, then jump in the pool to cool off. Throw open the patio doors and seamlessly move between the terrace and the sleek living space, enjoying lunch around the dining table as you feel the breeze on your skin. Pick up some fresh seafood from the fish auction every afternoon, then fire up the grill in the evenings as the sun goes down. Don't feel like cooking? Drive ten minutes into Jávea and enjoy dinner on the water – there are heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants to tickle your fancy. And, of course, a trip to Alicante isn't complete without a day at the beach – Playa Delarenal's wide sandy shore is eleven minutes by car, but we prefer the quiet cove of Platja de la Granadella, eight minutes away.

Sitting just 100 metres from Platja de l'Olla on the Costa Blanca, this apartment offers a comfortable coastal break with plenty of sun-soaking opportunities in store. A private lawn with a shaded patio is the highlight of the home itself, with access to the outdoors from the living area and main bedroom. While the decor isn’t the most exciting in our collection, the home nonetheless benefits from a communal pool area – as well as a children’s pool for little ones – and beautifully manicured gardens with sea views. You’ll also find bars and the promenade within 500 metres, Altea within 2 kilometres, not to mention plenty of outdoor activities on hand nearby, including hiking, cycling, kayaking, fishing, diving, snorkelling and waterskiing.

This charming villa with views of the Montgó, otherwise known as the Elephant, is a great setting to spend quality time with your loved ones. With mostly ensuite bedrooms, a private pool and a room to work out in, it has a lot going for it. We like the various sunny and shaded outdoor seating areas – with the poolside marquis being our favourite spot. The centre of Beniarbeig, with its shops and restaurants, is within walking distance of the villa and the nearest beach of Denia is only a short drive away.

Mountain views, a private pool and contemporary rooms – this home welcomes you to enjoy it all from the hills of Jávea. Set across three floors, the house offers plenty of chill-out spots along with a hot tub, exercise equipment and an office for remote workers. It’s also family-friendly with cots and high chairs available on request and a children’s zone in the swimming pool. You will need a car to get around here, but it’s just 5 kilometres to the beach and the centre of Jávea.

This no-frills apartment is just 150 metres from the sandy shores of Benidorm's Playa de Levante. The location in the old town is fantastic – restaurants, shops, and bars are all steps away – though that does mean it can get a little noisy at night. Back home, there isn't any outdoor space, but the floor-to-ceiling windows act as an internal balcony, making it an excellent spot to savour a glass of wine and watch the world pass by. One guest will sleep on a sofa bed, and only the living area has air conditioning (the bedrooms have fans). That said, it does the trick for a central pad a short stroll from the beach.

Jutting out on the coast, between Alicante and Valencia, the region of Cap Martí offers rugged coastlines, marinas, and rocky shores with panoramic views. While you might want to simply gaze out from one of the many miradors, small towns are also peppered across the area. This Adsubia home is just an eleven-minute drive from beaches like Platja del Portixol, but you don’t even need to go that far to relax in the water.

As soon as you arrive, it’s hard to ignore the huge private pool set on an elevated terrace, surrounded by an elegant balustrade. In these vast grounds, you can also wander through the lawns of your lush garden, where colourful native flowers climb stone walls and palms sway in the breeze.

If it gets too hot, sip chilled local wine under the shaded terrace. You might fancy a siesta in the bamboo dining chairs in the heat of the day, but as the evening chill sets in, the interiors are truly welcoming. Or, for a more laid-back day trip, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the Granadella nature reserve to a charming pebble beach, just twenty minutes away.

When it comes to location, you can’t do much better than this Benidorm apartment. It’s right on the Golden Mile, just a short walk to Playa de Poniente – and this corner apartment boasts glorious sea views. Best of all, it’s housed in a swanky complex with plenty of amenities. In addition to the communal outdoor swimming pool, there’s an additional indoor pool on the 46th floor – the views are spectacular – along with a sauna, spa and fitness room. There are alfresco hot tubs on the roof terrace, too. With two guests on a sofa bed in the living area, it won’t suit everyone, but we think the location and wealth of amenities more than makes up for the lack of privacy.
