This is a villa that will have even the most hard-to-please guests grinning. A lot of that is down to its fabulous views of the glistening Mediterranean and Isla del Portitxol, but special praise also goes to the peaceful swimming pool surrounded by treetops and the covered terrace complete with an alfresco dining table. Although some of the bathrooms are a little dated, we've only got kind words for the three-level layout – we particularly love the main bedroom with a sea-facing balcony. To top it all off, you don't have far to venture for beautiful gold-sand beaches, either.

Start the day with a coffee on the outdoor sofa, then jump in the pool to cool off. Throw open the patio doors and seamlessly move between the terrace and the sleek living space, enjoying lunch around the dining table as you feel the breeze on your skin. Pick up some fresh seafood from the fish auction every afternoon, then fire up the grill in the evenings as the sun goes down. Don't feel like cooking? Drive ten minutes into Jávea and enjoy dinner on the water – there are heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants to tickle your fancy. And, of course, a trip to Alicante isn't complete without a day at the beach – Playa Delarenal's wide sandy shore is eleven minutes by car, but we prefer the quiet cove of Platja de la Granadella, eight minutes away.

This villa caught our eye for its incredible sea views – and with five terraces and three balconies, there are plenty of spots to enjoy them from. You’ve also got a private pool and the use of a fitness centre and sauna to make your stay even more enjoyable. Inside, the contemporary living spaces offer ocean vistas and all of the bedrooms are ensuite for added privacy. The historic town of Javea, with its many shops, restaurants and tapas bars, is a 10km drive away and if you fancy eating in, your host can help arrange a cooking service so you won’t have to lift a finger.

This beautifully-styled home offering panoramic sea views deserves to be at the top of your list if you’re looking for a home just footsteps from the beach. The sandy shores of Granadella, with its seafront restaurants, are just a flip-flop away. A great choice for friends or couples sharing, each bedroom offers direct access to the top-floor balconies, so there's no need to tussle for the best room. While that private pool and sun-kissed terrace for alfresco barbecues are all about socialising. It’s worth noting that while the hillside setting is magnificent, you’ll need to navigate a steep driveway. However, there’s roadside parking for the less confident drivers out there.

This villa in southern Spain is set up for big group get-togethers or family gatherings. It’s packed with ways to stay entertained, both indoors and outdoors. Let’s start with the outdoors. A Roman-style swimming pool invites you for a dip to cool off from the heat, and a porticoed veranda runs the length of the villa, providing shaded lounges and outdoor dining for the group. When the magenta bougainvillaea is in bloom, the facade of this villa is simply stunning. You’ve got another terrace up on the first floor, filled with boho furnishings facing the sea view. To top it all off, a rooftop terrace catches the sun during the day.

Stepping inside, the fun continues with a dedicated cinema room – perfect for families – and a wine cellar to store the Riojas. The cosy main living room embraces the feel of an old Spanish farmhouse, with comfy sofas sitting beneath dark wood beams and an old brick fireplace in the corner. This opens up to the dining room, and double doors lead straight onto the terrace too. Kick off your flip-flops and paddle in the warm Mediterranean Sea or enjoy a gentle stroll along the golden sand. If you’re in the mood for some hustle and bustle, lively Alicante is an eleven-minute drive from your abode – pick out a restaurant in the Old Town for some tasty paella and a well-deserved glass of sangria.

Only five kilometres from the historic centre of Javea, this pet-friendly home offers an excellent base for groups staying on the Costa Blanca. Outdoors, you'll sunbathe beneath palm trees and serve Spanish-style barbecues by the pool. With parking space for two cars, day trips to the nearby natural parks are made easy, but how about exploring the Cova dels Òrguens sea caves instead? Though the closest Playa de Cala Ambolo is a nudist beach, traditional alternatives await between the Mediterranean miradors.

This spacious villa is located within a residential beach area in the coastal town of Javea, Costa Blanca. Spread across one floor, it's a great option for larger groups of friends or family who want a self-catered stay that's close to the sea. It's not the most luxurious home – the decor is quite basic – but it's clean and bright with a fully-equipped kitchen. We love the large outdoor area which can be easily accessed from the open-plan living room. The private swimming pool is a good size and there are BBQ facilities for guests to use too. You'll find plenty of local amenities and attractions nearby but if you want to explore further afield then we suggest a car for ease.

Out in the Spanish countryside, a little south of Valencia in the Alicante Province, this majestic villa exudes seclusion and tranquillity. Enjoy snacks and drinks at the patio set in the garden, cool off with a few laps of the large pool, or simply lie back and soak up the Alicante sun on the deck chairs. You can also use the barbecue and terrace furniture while taking in views of the mountains. Just 3 kilometres from the nearest beach and not much further to the centre of Javea, there’s many shops and delicious eateries to explore. Or why not make use of this home’s outdoor kitchen and dine alfresco in the tropical garden. We’d recommend hiring a car to get around here – golf lovers will appreciate nearby Javea Golf Club while thrill-seekers can venture within 5 kilometres to try their hand at diving, surfing or water skiing.

Location-wise, it's just 3 kilometres from Platja Granadella, while Jávea's collection of restaurants, shops and attractions is about 5 kilometres away.

Sit yourself down on one of the plush sofas and put your feet up, or indulge in a siesta in one of the luxurious bedrooms. Lovely though the interiors are, the outside is the real draw of this home. With multiple terraces and patios to explore or relax on, you can spend the whole day switching between sun and shade – not to mention dips in that glittering pool. With a state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen and dining area, you don’t even need to venture inside for meal times. If you can tear yourself away from the sunny sanctuary you’ve made here, you’ll discover mountain trails, seafood restaurants, and Alicante’s famous beaches within a few minutes' drive.

Not far from the golden sand beaches and secret coves of Costa Blanca, this home is a slice of serenity on the Spanish coast. Thick wooden oak beams, white arched walls, and pastoral paintings give the space a traditional feel. There are some quirky stylings too: the candy pink bathroom with its jet tub feels very 50s, as do the cream sofas in the large living space. There's oodles of space for groups, though we suspect most of your time will be spent outside. Nab your spot on a sun lounger by the long pool or wander through the verdant gardens to find a stone pergola – perfect for siestas. There are several good restaurants within easy walking distance, but with such a peaceful location, we prefer to stock up on local goodies and feast while seated on the wrought-iron furniture back at the home.

Come rain or shine, sunset or sunrise, the views from this clay-red villa in the Spanish hills are unforgettable. Looking out over the Mediterranean ocean and mountainous landscape, the home's rooftop terrace is perfect for serving cocktails after long days exploring the craggy coastline and secret beaches this region is famous for. Freshly cooked dinners are best held on one of the alfresco terraces, with the upstairs balcony still enjoying glimpses of the sea. Interiors are traditional and classic, with geometric rugs and fish sculptures in the living space. On the slim chance that the weather cools, light the log-burning fire and snuggle up on the homely sofas. Too hot? It's straight into the private pool before drying off in the pine-fringed garden.

As soon as you arrive at this dreamy Costa Blanca home, you’ll start to relax. The private swimming pool glitters invitingly in the Spanish sun, surrounded by sun loungers, flowers and trees. The outside space here is glorious, with a covered terrace providing welcome shade, and a dining table for alfresco feasts. 

Inside, the villa is cool and attractive. Traditional features like wooden beams sit alongside floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors, blending the old and new. It’s bright and comfortable, with everything you might need during your stay – you can very happily spend your entire stay here. Cooks will enjoy the modern kitchen while romantics will be glad of the quiet terraces for nightcaps with a loved one. 

The villa is in a lovely part of the Costa Blanca, with its sandy coastlines and rugged mountain ranges in the distance. For days at the beach, you need only drive a short way to Playa de Ambolo. With such peace and quiet at the villa, you really get the best of both worlds here.

This accessibility-friendly villa on the Costa Blanca guarantees a stress-free break for any family or group of friends. Although the home feels dated in parts, we think it adds character. Outside, there’s a private swimming pool and a terrace with a barbecue for alfresco dining. Location-wise, Jávea’s restaurants, cafes and shops are a fifteen-minute drive away, but if you’d prefer to while away the hours on a beach, Cala del Portixol is reached in ten minutes by car.

There's no shortage of spots to relax outdoors at this white-washed Costa Blanca home. Twisty terraces offer panoramic views of the sea, while the kidney-shaped pool is ideal for afternoon dips. Inside is a little dated – especially the bathrooms – but there's plenty of room to spread out. Although the fourth bedroom doesn't have air conditioning, there's a fan to keep cool on summer nights. It's a great location, too – restaurants, shops, and multiple beaches are within driving distance. Head to El Arenal for sandy shores (7 kilometres away) or visit the picturesque La Granadella if pebbles are more your thing (also 7 kilometres away).

This traditional Spanish home opens its doors to the simple pleasures of coastal living. And while the rooms might be basic, it's the garden and swimming pool that caught our attention. Days can be spent relaxing here or exploring the beautiful beaches of the Costa Blanca. We suggest hiring a car to get around – Arenal beach is just 2km away, while the nearest restaurants, bars and shops are also a short drive away. Child-friendly amenities are available on request, as well as nice extras like a private chef.

Just a three minute walk to the nearest sandy beach of Arenal, you'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing somewhere for dinner, a morning coffee, or a glass of sangria as you watch the world go by. There is also a rocky beach just a stone's throw from the apartment, where you can enjoy excellent snorkelling, scuba diving and fishing. The pretty port and historic old town of Javea is just three kilometres away, and you'll find two prestigious golf courses within around a twenty minute radius.

Whether you've spent that day playing a few holes, soaking up the southern Spanish sunshine on your favourite local beach, or exploring the beguiling backstreets of Javea – unmistakably Spanish with their whitewashed houses adorned with bright swathes of bougainvillea – you can always return to the comfort and calm of this home away from home. Cook up something tasty in the kitchen (we especially love preparing a steam pan of Arroz a la Banda, Alicante’s take on typical paella), before heading out onto the balcony that overlooks the communal swimming pool, perhaps breaking out the board games to while away the evening as dusk turns into a star-speckled night.

Sharp lines and clean spaces characterise this modern home, from the cavernous living room with its all-cream furniture and UFO-shaped skylights to the bright bedrooms. Artwork, in stark contrast, is bold with huge colourful prints hung in each room. We won't be surprised if you miss all those details, however, as it's the views that will have you enraptured. Looking out over the Mediterranean ocean, the home has floor-to-ceiling windows for uninterrupted panoramas – from the master bed when you wake up to your mid-afternoon soak in the standalone bathtub. Head out for a closer inspection, with a blue infinity pool to make you feel like you're floating, while the upstairs balcony is unbeatable for watching the sunset.

If you’re looking for an authentic coastal town, this home’s location is bound to impress. Situated in Jávea, you’ll be just five kilometres from sandy beaches and the Medieval streets of the old town. Situated high up in the hills, you’ll have plenty of peace, privacy and incredible views over the mountains and valley, but bear in mind that a car is necessary to reach the villa. If you’d rather not venture out, three levels offer plenty of space to relax, plus a garden containing a private pool and Jacuzzi for those alfresco evenings.
