Previously an old Andalusian farmhouse, this villa has retained much of its traditional charm. Located just 10 kilometres from Ronda, this home’s rural location offers plenty of peace and privacy. Situated in a beautiful valley, you’ll be surrounded by natural parks like the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, so you’re ideally positioned to enjoy some long walks with your canine companion. There’s a separate one-bedroom apartment here, which may appeal to a couple or any teenagers in the group who want their own space. Outside you’ll have a lawned garden to relax in, featuring a private pool, hammocks, a barbecue and a shaded dining area. 

Mountain Melody

A sense of calm will wash over you from the moment you arrive at this idyllic home. Surrounded by palm trees and fragrant gardens, this grand villa in the Costa del Sol has beautiful views of the mountains, sumptuously decorated rooms, and a spectacular swimming pool. The villa is designed in the opulent Ancient Roman style, with a pillared portico entrance that leads through to the atrium with a fountain at its centre. A shaded terrace wraps around the house, with plenty of places to relax, an alfresco dining table and a high spec barbecue for whipping up traditional Spanish feasts. 

Start the day with a dip in the crystalline waters of the pool, before enjoying breakfast on the terrace. There are plenty of sun loungers to relax on, as well as a ping pong table for a quick games in between sunbathing. You could easily spend all week admiring the gardens and splashing around in the water, but there’s plenty to explore nearby too. This home is on the outskirts of the famous Mijas Golf Resort, with two excellent 18-hole courses, and also a short drive to the buzzy town of Fuengirola, with its beautiful beach. After a day of sun, sea, and sand, come home and enjoy cocktails on the terrace while the kids run around in the garden and play on the trampoline.

Villa Romana

Sitting in the countryside between Málaga and Marbella, this typically Andalusian home is just the spot for a peaceful getaway during which you'll spend as many hours as possible in the great outdoors.

Part of the alfresco appeal is the dramatic landscape of hillsides and clouds rolling across the sky that greets you as you step out the back door. It makes for a lovely backdrop against which to paddle in the swimming pool, soak up the sunshine on one of the loungers or read on the shady pergola. Once nighttime starts to descend, you can fire up the barbecue and dine on the covered terrace.

Back inside, there are a fair few period features to be spotted, from the exposed brick fireplace in the corner of the living room to the vaulted wooden ceiling beams. However, these are matched with plenty of contemporary flourishes, too – the large windows bring in copious amounts of natural light, for example, while the sleek kitchen and bathrooms feel anything but dated.

When you're in need of shops and restaurants, the centre of Villafranco de Guadalhorce is only 2km away and Alhaurin el Grande is 7km away, too. A little further afield, there are sandy beaches at Fuengirola and Torremolinos, which are both around 30km away, too.


Let Me Set the Scene

Nestled in the heart of ancient Andalusia, this secluded sanctuary is a modern touch of luxury. Rural and tranquil, the villa is surrounded by raw, natural beauty from every angle – find a sprawling vineyard behind the house and the jagged rocks of the Sierras in the foreground. It's a diverse landscape of colour, unique terrain and sunshine. 

Paying homage to its ancient location, the villa blends traditional design with contemporary quality. Sustainable and ecological materials add an authentic touch to modern technology. 

The huge interior is shaped by open spaces and rustic furniture, sewn together by the cool tiles and whitewashes walls. Wander out to the colourful garden and the vibe transcends into an exotic oasis – palm trees and tropical plant life guard a cute pool and sun beds. A cosy seating area is the idyllic spot to bask in the serenity of your surroundings. 

Such is the abundance of natural beauty nearby, you probably want to explore the region. Your host can arrange a variety of tours and excursions, allowing you to see as much or as little as Andalusia as you like.

Tropical Vine

Positioned in Cabopino, between Spanish holiday resort towns Marbella and Fuengirola, the villa is ideally located with easy access to the Costa del Sol's luxury golf courses, beaches, shopping and nightlife. And that's before we've even got started on the villa itself. 

Boasting spectacular south-facing views of the Mediterranean sea, enjoy the serene scapes come night or daytime. Balancing indoor and outdoor living couldn't be easier here as bi-fold doors bring the outside in and extend the living area out onto the patio. So relax by the pool on the day beds or perch with a book in the shade on one of the plush sofas. 

We love the clean lines and blue and white colour scheme seen throughout the villa, which offers a soothing space to relax in style. Underfloor heating carried across the main rooms during the slightly chillier months will keep your toes warm. Meanwhile, premium quality entertainment features, including Sonos speakers, Apple TV, and the decked-out kitchen, will keep you occupied even if the sun isn't shining outside. 
There's also an a second lounge hang-out area in the basement of the home, which could be used as a gaming room or extra living space for the children. 

Since you'll be just a fifteen-minute drive away from Marbella and Fuengirola, there's plenty to see and do beyond the villa too. You'll also be within an easy ten minutes walking distance of Cabopino's protected dunes and marina, ideal for a stroll or dining out at one of the many seafront restaurants. Not to mention Luna Beach, which is only 500 metres away and an idyllic spot for watching the sunset over drinks and live music at the local beach restaurant and cocktail bar. 

Free Fallin'

Situated in the residential Arruzafa area of Cordoba, just a short drive from its historic centre, this exclusive studio apartment boasts a huge private terrace and garden, as well as access to a communal pool. A perfect base for a couple or a solo traveller, you’ll enjoy comfort and tranquillity here – while the place is compact, there’s plenty of space for relaxing and enjoying some alfresco times. Although situated on the ground floor, note that there are some steps in the outdoor areas. 

Córdoba Oasis

With the Sierra Bermeja mountain range as your backdrop and the bustle of Estepona's beach and restaurant scene just a ten-minute stroll away, the setting of this stylish apartment is impressive. Though with palm-fringed pools and hotel-worthy amenities back at this apartment complex, you may decide to stay put. The on-site restaurant and pool bar will be handy for morning coffees, champagne sundowners and everything else in between. Or take things back to the privacy of your terrace for an alfresco sunset supper.

Sierra Sunsets

Indoor and outdoor living blend into one at this stunning home in the heart of Marbella. Whoever designed this place clearly had a thing for natural light – windows and French doors feature throughout, meaning you can soak up views of your lush surroundings from almost any room in the house. The first-floor terrace isn’t bad either and is accessible via all three bedrooms, so there won’t be any squabbling about who gets to sleep where. And when it comes to activities, there’s plenty to keep you occupied, from the nearby golf courses to the private pool. What more could you ask for?

Mountain Gleam

Situated among exclusive golf courses and just a short drive from both the beaches of Puerto Banus and Marbella, this stylish villa has a lot to offer. The outdoor boasts a private swimming pool, along with a secluded garden where you can share delicious alfresco meals. It would be hard to beat the mountain views which can be admired from the terrace here, and there’s even an outdoor bar for those evenings of drinks and barbecue dinners under the stars, with the garden's state-of-the-art illuminated irrigation system to wow you. The inside exudes minimalist elegance and offers plenty of bright space. Bear in mind that there are some steps to climb here, including to access the pool area.  

A Healing Journey

Situated within a private community of townhouses along Marbella's famed Golden Mile, this home can boast of one of the most coveted locations in Spain, if not Europe – thankfully, the living quarters more than live up to this illustrious spot on the map.

Behind the front door, guests will find an interior that embraces Andalusian tradition and contemporary flourishes. The whitewashed walls, wooden ceiling beams and pretty patterned tiling throughout are typical of the region's design, but there's a chic taste in furnishings and finishes that wouldn't be out of place in a slick city apartment – the large kitchen is a triumph, to say the least.

This being a part of the world that enjoys a fair share of sunshine, you're probably wondering what there is on offer in terms of outdoor amenities. Down at ground level, there's a plant-covered courtyard with lots of seating and an alfresco table, while there's also a balcony on the top floor that looks out over the glistening Med. And as if that wasn't enough, you also get access to a communal swimming pool, plus courts for tennis and padel, all shared with other residents on the estate.

If you prefer the real thing, you can head over to the neighbouring Casablanca Beach – mere footsteps from the front door – and paddle in the sea instead. It's easy to find watersports and aquatic excursions in the local area, as well as a good selection of restaurants and beach clubs. Marbella's charming old town doesn't take long to reach in the car, either.

Meet Me on the Beach

This home in the Andalusian countryside is very much away from it all. There’s nothing but olive groves, rugged hills and the odd farmstead for miles. The closest town is around a fifteen-minute drive away – El Saucejo – where you’ve got supermarkets for supplies and a handful of local restaurants and bars. Plus, the pretty town of Ronda with its famous gorge and the historic city of Seville are both around an hour’s drive away, ideal for a day trip or two.

Life here is all about embracing the slow pace – lying up on a lounger by the swimming pool as orange trees provide natural shade. Finding a secluded spot on the stone patios and settling in with a good book. Or, perhaps gathering for rustic lunches in the shade of the outdoor dining area, surrounded by old-world farming tools – a nod to the villa’s history. 

Inside, it’s got the look of an old farmhouse with a brick fireplace at the heart of the living room, wooden beams on display and darkwood furniture that feels as though it’s been in the family for generations. We love the gnarled wood and iron motif that sings of agriculture in the 19th century. The farmhouse-style kitchen is a colourful spot thanks to green-washed cupboards and peach tiles, and the dining room is a great spot for the group to gather at the end of the day. The traditional feel continues in bedrooms where windows look out over the countryside and iron-framed beds await for sound sleep in the peace and quiet. 

Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

We never underestimate the power of a killer view. Which is precisely why this blissfully secluded Finca perched high in the valley above the coast of Nerja caught our eye.

Perfectly designed for alfresco living, the vast south-facing terrace is the spot to drink up those sea and mountain vistas (preferably with a glass of something chilled in hand). As is that cool, blue pool with an outdoor shower to beat the heat. And just imagine this place at sunset as you fire up the barbecue – that’s a memory made right there.

Inside, while the interiors aren’t winning any design gongs soon, everywhere feels beautifully cared for and charming. Cool, terracotta floors and exposed stonework bring the character, while the bedrooms feel blissfully quiet with no traffic noise to disturb your beauty sleep here.

If you can tear yourself away from the panoramic scenes outside, you’ll find you’re closer to the action than you think. The nearest village, Frigiliana (a ten-minute drive), is an afternoon well spent with its tapas bars tucked away in the Moorish old quarter. Nerja, with its ten miles of sandy shores, is a twenty-minute drive for something a little buzzier. Or don your hiking boots or hop on your mountain bikes to explore the verdant pine forests of the Sierra Almijara nature reserve and the lost village of Acebucha – trails start close to your door.
