Looking to the African desert for design inspiration, this Eixample apartment is dominated by earthy tones, natural materials and a few houseplants to add a burst of bright colour. Other aspects are a little more contemporary – you only have to look at the minimalist white kitchen to see what we mean.

Even though it sits among one of Barcelona's most bustling districts, there's something innately relaxing about the space, whether you're listening to a vinyl record with a breeze blowing in over the Juliet balcony or enjoying a meal cooked with locally bought ingredients on the round dining table.

And when it comes to sightseeing, you don't have far to venture from your front door. The mighty Sagrada Familia is less than a quarter of an hour's walk, as is Parc de la Ciutadella in the opposite direction. You're especially well served by cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets, too.

Home to Gaudí's architectural gems, haute couture shops, and Michelin star restaurants, they call this neck of the woods Quadrat d'Or (Golden Square) for a good reason.

Back at home, the pristine, uncluttered interiors will appeal to all you minimalists out there. Flooded with natural daylight thanks to those floor-to-ceiling Juliet balcony windows, it feels like a breath of fresh air to return to after a day soaking up all that Gaudi extravagance in the streets below.

Drop your bags in the spacious hallway, grab a glass of something crisp (the complimentary chilled wine will help with that), then fling the balcony doors open wide to watch the grand avenue of Gran Via bustle below. One of Barcelona's longest boulevards crossing right through the city, it's an impressive sight to behold. And thanks to its elevated position on the fifth floor, the spacious bedrooms feel surprisingly quiet at night with the windows closed and the black-out blinds drawn.

When it’s time to explore, hop on the nearby metro and you’ll be at the sights of central Barcelona in less than ten minutes. Or stay local to Sagrada Familia, where you’ll be surprised by just how much green space surrounds the area, perfect for a coffee and amble about. When tummies start to rumble, walk a few blocks along to the Eixample district and join the locals for authentic tapas and local wine. Gaudi's Churchyard

One look at that private terrace with sweeping views over Barcelona, and it's easy to see why this home caught our eye. Location-wise, you're right in the heart of vibrant Glòries. Don't miss the nearby mall with its long-standing flea market and upscale shops and eateries. Or hop over into neighbouring L'Eixample to hit the must-see sights. If we were being picky, though the kitchen is well-equipped, it could do with an interior refresh. It's also worth noting the second bedroom is pocket-sized with limited floor space. But we'll let that slide for a home with such impressive outdoor space. 

Viewpoint Terrace

It's clear that Gingerbread Cinder was designed by a professional – original vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls are a challenge to pull off, but these guys succeeded using minimal, high-quality furniture. This is an immaculate home with lots of natural light and several external balconies, perfect for people-watching. Located in Barcelona's 'it' neighbourhood El Born, you'll be within walking distance to the most famous sights, as well as local hidden gems.

This stylish apartment, housed in a grand period building, has a fantastic address. Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a three-minute saunter, while it's a six-minute stroll to Paseo De Gracia with its museums and designer boutiques galore (Gucci, Chanel and Versace, amongst many others). Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, on the other hand, are a ten-minute walk away or visit one of Barcelona's most iconic attractions, the Sagrada Familia, just over twenty minutes on foot.

Back at this home, open the French doors to the balcony and have a seat on the comfy sofa after all that sightseeing. We love the high ceilings here and traditional wall mouldings. There's a gorgeous, modern four-poster bed as well – this place is perfect for a couple or friends looking for a bolt hole in Barcelona.

Take the flight of stairs up to the top of this handsome building and you’ll find a hidden secret – an impressive shared sun terrace, the perfect spot for sundowners before heading out for authentic tapas. And you’re in the right neighbourhood to do so. The surrounding streets are archetypical of El Born - Barcelona’s ‘It’ neighbourhood, don’t you know. You’re only two minutes from heaps of trendy bars, coffee shops, and independent boutiques, as well as the imposing Basilica of Santa Maria Del Mar. Start your day with a spot of people watching at an outdoor café before heading on to one of the many sights located nearby.  The lively streets of Plaça Catalunya, Les Rambles, and the Gothic Quarter are all just a fifteen-minute walk away – as is the city’s sandy beach. Your only conundrum will be deciding where to head first.

While famed architectural marvels like the Sagrada Família are a twenty-minute drive away, this apartment is a dream for lovers of golden shores and turquoise waters – the beachfront is right opposite. You can walk to Platja de la Nova Mar Bella in just eight minutes, and admire views of its glistening waters from this glass-clad abode. With palm trees lining the road as you arrive at this modern building, there’s a beach-resort vibe that feels a world away from the hectic city centre. Inside, you’ll be wowed by the fresh, clean, and sleek interiors of the enormous open-plan living space. White is the dominant colour, illuminated further by floor-to-ceiling glass windows and sliding doors to private terraces and balconies. In a traditional building, recently modernised with eco-conscious touches, this character apartment is set between the El Born and Eixample neighbourhoods. With sustainability in mind, the hosts have hand-picked recycled wood for the quirky kitchen cabinets, along with things like vintage glasses and upcycled armchairs. The mini-bar with local eco soaps, toothbrushes, beers, wine and juices is a nice touch and there's nothing like stepping out onto your little balcony, glass in hand, and taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Bedrooms are calm and quiet, and all the more beautiful thanks to their Catalan tiled floors, high ceilings and tall windows. But our favourite thing about this charming place is the hosts, who live in an apartment on the top floor and are welcoming and knowledgeable. They'll look after your bags before or after checkout, welcome you with a local breakfast and even allow you to use their beautiful roof terrace from time to time – where you can see across the city to the sea.

Reclaimed Dream

Fabulously located in the heart of Eixample, within easy walking distance of many of Barcelona's key sights, with a beautiful living space full of lovely period details and a spacious master-bedroom with its own private terrace, this home is a delight. Bedrooms two and three are both extremely small, but we won't hold this against an otherwise fab home. The living space might just be home to the most beautiful flooring in the Plum Collection – we are obsessed! 

Geometry Rules

Just eight minutes from the Plaça de Catalunya on foot, this renovated home boasts a central location in the heart of Barcelona. You'll find it in the Eixample, tucked away in an elegant alleyway and offering a quiet refuge from the tourist hustle and bustle. Here, you're surrounded by a delightful array of boutiques and eateries and within walking distance of the main sights. Go shopping on Passeig de Gràcia, picnic in Ciutadella Park or marvel at the Sagrada Familia – all less than a twenty-minute stroll from your doorstep. 

Inside, spacious rooms flaunt high ceilings, large windows and stylish decor, while contemporary amenities promise a want-for-nothing stay. We especially love the balcony. Offering leafy views, this is the perfect place to sunbathe. Home chefs will appreciate the fully-equipped kitchen, where a breakfast bar beckons for mornings roosted here, sipping quick coffees before slipping out for breakfast – we recommend the croissants from the little cafe downstairs.

There’s something about a mixture of lime-washed and bright white walls overlooking warm-toned Scandi furniture that fills any space with an air of exclusivity and endless good vibes. Add in a sophisticated, modern kitchen, copper details, rattan ornaments, a record player with a selection of timeless albums and a location in the heart of Barcelona and you’ve got yourself a dream of an urban retreat. Patio doors in the master bedroom open up to the balcony, so you can wake up to the fresh air soothing your skin and step out to enjoy a delicious breakfast with vistas of the Sagrada Familia overhead. Spend the afternoon curled up in front of the flat-screen TV or hop on the metro and explore the city, starting with the deservedly famous Park Güell.

Built with respect for the environment, this bright home is an ideal base for eco-conscious guests looking for a comfortable, central stay in the city. While the home dates back to 1900, it’s been brought into sparkling 21st-style with an interior that reflects eco-design principles and respects Catalan Modernism. High ceilings, mosaic tiles, wooden framed French doors and upcycled furnishings create a beautiful, minimalist impression in the open-plan living room with a cool wooden kitchenette and dining table inviting Spanish feasts aplenty. The two bedrooms are equally pared-back and offer cosy beds as well as Juliet balconies with leafy views over your El Born neighbourhood. You’ll also have access to your host’s office and communal rooftop terrace on the eighth floor (during working hours) where hammocks invite you to spend sunny afternoons soaking up those Barcelona rays. Immerse yourself in Barcelona's rich cultural history as you visit the city's famed Casa Batlló. Proudly sat just a one-minute stroll from your new home from home, this must-see structure was designed by Antoni Gaudí in 1904 and has since become one of the city's most iconic landmarks.

Just a further four-minutes away, you can find yet another of Gaudi's masterpieces - La Pedrera. Here you can take some snap shots and soak up Barcelona's spectacular sights before heading to the city's most famous shopping mall, El Corte Inglés, for a much-needed spot of retail therapy.

Two balconies – one at the front and one at the back of this apartment – provide beautiful views of the neighbourhood and you can even see a little bit of the sea on sunny days. Up on the top floor, natural light floods the rooms. The open living space in soft grey and teal velvet is particularly sunny. Glass doors lead out to the front terrace where waxy green banana leaves sprout from planters and dining is set for four. There’s a lazy hammock in the corner too, so you can take in that rooftop view all the way to the Sagrada Familia. You'll be able to plan your holiday from the comfort of the terrace as Barcelona spreads like a map before you. Located only minutes away from Plaça Catalunya, you'll have easy access to all parts of the city. 

Phrenology

We didn't expect to find a home like this in an unassuming building like the one that hides the Trojan Horse. It's obvious that an interior designer was involved in the curation of this stylish home — there's a consistent theme of industrial chic, that's best expressed by the bare brick wall and sleek lampshades. There's an abundance of natural light with two balconies extending the clutter-free and clean living space and helping this relatively small home maximise its assets. Find a sunny reading spot by the window on a Wegner-inspired chair and gather around the vibrant dining area for convivial coffee and churros – we loved the bright yellow chairs. Both bedrooms benefit from tasteful scatter cushions, throws and quirky headboards that make for a light and airy spot to relax with a magazine. From Gràcia, all the major sights are well within walking distance, including the Sagrada Familia under twenty minutes away. Explore the local neighbourhood, stopping off at its trendy cafes and family-run eateries – wherever you are, a jug of sangria and a plate of paella are never too far from hand. 

Trojan Horse

Since Barcelona doesn't have a lot of beachside apartments, there's a zone right across the road from it, where modern high rises offer a brilliant view of the sea and the developing Poblenou. Maresme is only a few minutes away from the beach, but you'll need to take the nearby metro to get to Eixample. In the summer, this home really comes alive with a whole extra lounge and dining area on the balcony that overlooks Nova Mar Bella beach. But even in the winter, the elegant design creates a pleasant atmosphere.

We love this home in Barcelona – it boasts some of the best views over Gaudi's iconic Casa Milà and L'Eixample. Housed in a 120-year-old renovated building, floor-to-ceiling windows let the daylight in, while traditional tile details and a mixture of old and new furniture give this place soul. Prepare some tapas in the sleek, grey kitchen and enjoy at the dining table or head to L'Eixample’s celebrated dining scene, just over a five-minute walk away. If the vistas from your apartment of Casa Milà have whetted your appetite to see some more, then it's a mere three-minute stroll. Or, browse the high-end boutiques in the area, then head to La Rambla de Sant Jose (also known as La Rambla de les Flors) and pick up some flowers. You'll undoubtedly be glad you picked this apartment.

Ronda Universitat is close to Plaça Catalunya and the Modernist sights of Eixample. The central location of this convenient address is a great asset and if this is your first visit to Barcelona – it doesn't get much better than this. Enjoy being within walking distance of all the best shops, restaurants, and cultural sights including Casa Batllo and Gaudi's other spectacular works of art (a ten-minute walk away). With so much to see and do nearby, catching some respite from the city is easy here – as a soothing colour palette with calming wood tones and soft furnishings create a space boasting comfort and practicality. Sink into the plush "L" shaped sofa with a cup of tea, before running a bath and unwinding for a quiet night at home. For evenings when you're feeling most energised, lap up the ease of going on nights out too – it would be rude not to make the most of being able to walk out here after all. And of course, if you do plan on venturing further afield in the city, you'll have bus stops and metro stations within less than five minutes reach too.

Velvet Willow

Located in the heart of the artsy Poblenou neighbourhood, this laid-back apartment has all you need to make the most of your time away in Barcelona. Inside, it’s effortlessly styled – think white-washed brick, exposed timber beams and polished concrete floors. The sleek kitchen is fully-equipped and the low-slung lounger is the perfect spot to curl up with a good book. In this serene, village-like area with a traditional Catalan vibe, your apartment is just a six-minute stroll from the Fabra i Puig metro (meaning you’ll be at the Sagrada Familia in just fifteen minutes). Heading inside, white walls create a bright, fresh feel to the main living space. With sunlight flooding in through floor-to-ceiling windows, and French doors opening onto a leafy, private balcony, the whole space feels airy and relaxed. As you can step outside from either of the large, modern bedrooms – each with their own unique, decorative headboard – it’s the perfect spot to gather everyone in the morning with an espresso. Head down into the peaceful streets to find local delights like the Parish of Sant Pacià, eleven minutes away. The ubiquitous work of Gaudí made it out to Sant Andreu, where he designed the ornate mosaic floor of this neo-gothic church. This is truly a place where you can discover hidden details off the tourist track.

A thoroughly down-to-earth home positioned a fifteen-minute walk from the Nova Icària beach, this apartment is effortlessly cool and utterly relaxing. We couldn’t get enough of the exposed brickwork, original ceiling beams, muted hues and abundant house plants. Furniture has been hand-selected for both style and function – tuck into homemade tapas around the Scandi dining table or get comfy with a measure of local Penedés brandy on the L-shaped couch. Bedrooms are stripped-back yet cosy, so you can guarantee a peaceful sleep night after night. When you’re done sunning yourself on Barcelona’s sandy seashore, take the leisurely thirty-minute stroll into the evocative Gothic Quarter. Enjoy a pit stop en route in Ciutadella Park and chill out with a picnic by Gaudí’s fountain. 

Rusticity

With its trendy colour palette and sleek modern design, this Eixample apartment offers first-class urban living. The marine blue accent wall makes the open-plan living space feel connected and cosy, while boiserie and marble-effect details add a touch of elegance. You’ll begin your mornings at the dining table with a traditional Catalan breakfast before nipping onto the balcony to bask in the glorious sunshine. 

Spend afternoons ticking off Barcelona’s cultural hot spots – Gaudí’s Casa Batlló is a mere 160 metres from your building and La Sagrada Família is a leisurely twenty-five-minute walk away. Weave through the Gothic Quarter’s charming streets – stop for a coffee on La Rambla and pore over the masterpieces in the Picasso Museum. And when the day draws to a close, take the twenty-four-minute bus trip to Barceloneta Beach to watch the sun set over the glittering Mediterranean. 

La Modernista

Located just off the famous Barceloneta beach, Windclass Blue is a solid home for those seeking a relaxing beachside retreat. In the evenings, the Port Vell's nearby promenade is filled with great restaurants and cafes, but if you walk the other way towards Poblenou, you won't be hungry either. This is a simple, luminous home, whose design is focused more on functionality than aesthetics. Still, the beautiful view and comfort make it a good option for a small family or a group of friends. 






Windclass Blue

Situated a stone's throw from Passeig de Gràcia, this home is at the heart of the action. You'll find it on Gran de Gracia, nestled between Gracia and Eixample. Here, you're surrounded by an array of upmarket boutiques, bars and eateries, while Gaudi's masterpieces, Casa Milà and La Pedrera, are a ten-minute stroll away. Though being a six-minute walk from two metro stops, the city really is yours for the taking.

We love this home's elegant design aesthetic. Inside, it's a timeless canvas of high ceilings and wooden floors adorned with regal touches, from the stained glass windows to the glistening glass chandelier. The open-plan living area offers the perfect place for relaxation, including a cosy l-shaped sofa and a sweet balcony with picturesque views. After a restful slumber in the lavish bedrooms, start your days roosted here, sipping your morning coffee and soaking up the sun. After busy days exploring the city, gather around the dining table for a delicious feast prepared in the fully-equipped kitchen before slipping out for a walk at sunset.

The Golden Globes

The architectural details in Cinder Symmetry are the most characterful part of this comfortable, bright home. Even though it's a rental property, the professional touch of an interior designer is evident in the selection of high-quality, minimalist furniture that doesn't clash with the busy walls. El Born is close to the Gothic Quarter, but has a completely different character –  think fewer tourist hotspots, and far more award-winning tapas bars. 

Cinder Symmetry

Located on Rambla Catalunya – Barcelona’s main shopping street – this apartment puts you in a prime position to explore the city’s many central bars, restaurants and boutiques. Given its spot in the heart of the action, you may need to contend with some street noise throughout your stay. But there’s plenty to appreciate inside, not least of all the pad’s private terrace – perfect for sunny breakfasts and evening glasses of wine. The decor isn’t the most inspiring here but a sizeable kitchen will be appreciated by chefs of the group. And the home’s locale close to Casa Batlló, Casa Milà and Plaça de Catalunya makes sightseeing a cinch. 


The Palmate View

Passeig de Gràcia with its shops, restaurants and bars, is just a five-minute walk away. There’s a sense of old-world grandeur inside thanks to chandeliers and corniced ceilings, in keeping with the historic building. The apartment is family-sized, but might feel cramped at capacity with three in one bedroom and two on the sofa bed in the living room. Balconies off the living room and one of the bedrooms face Rambla Catalunya – perfect for people-watching.

Housed in a Belle Epoque, 19th-century building this apartment's interior is just as striking as the outside. A steady theme of chocolatey tones paired with minimalistic furnishings made us feel like we were in the home of a deep thinker. Still, there are small details that breathe some warmth into the flat – the Catalan hydraulic tiles on the floor, the modern art on the walls, and the red velvet seats on the balcony. The balcony has a perfect people-watching view over the leafy boulevard below. The kitchen as black as backstage at a theatre and dramatically downlit, but it's not all style over substance as the cupboards are packed with everything you could want for self-catering. Should you need to catch up on work, the second bedroom doubles as an office. When it comes to clocking off you couldn't be better placed with Passeig de Gracia one block away, where Gaudí's masterpiece 'La Pedrera' and famous hotels like Omm and Hotel Casa Fuster reside. The apartment itself is in the 'Cuadrat d'Or' (Golden Square), an area packed with bars, restaurants and high-end shops galore.
