A relaxing respite from Barcelona's hustle and bustle, this flat in Eixample has all the makings for a laid-back family getaway. It's surprisingly roomy, so there should be more than enough space to spread out and get comfortable, while the cosy design is unfussy and inviting – we're talking exposed brick walls, soft colours and tons of natural light.

Best of all, this sunny apartment has not one but two balconies where you can soak up the Spanish rays. The first, just off the main bedroom, is the perfect place to start the day off – all you need is a strong cup of coffee and some fresh fruit to nibble on for breakfast. The second, meanwhile, is accessed via the living area, making it ideal for sharing alfresco dinners and a laughter-packed conversation underneath the yellow-striped awning, watching as the sunset bathes the entire city in golden light. 

And the location is hard to beat, especially if you're keen on a quieter neighbourhood close to all the action. The famous Gaudi masterpiece, Sagrada Familia, is only a ten-minute walk away, the UNESCO Heritage Site Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau is a six-minute stroll, and countless restaurants, sidewalk cafes and small shops line the avenues. Getting into the buzzing city centre is easy, with two metro lines and numerous busses heading towards Passeig de Gracia, Plaça de Catalunya and the beach in less than thirty minutes.

In the City of Catalonia

Cool, calm and collected, this Scandinavian-chic penthouse is blessed with plenty of charisma. Everything about this home is effortlessly stylish – we especially love the vintage Beni Ourain-inspired rug, the handcrafted wooden light fixture, and the 1950s Ercol butterfly chairs. However, the cherry on top is the huge arched window in the living room, which frames the beautiful buildings of Avenida Diagonal in a mesmerising way. So, excuse us while we take a moment to imagine ourselves sitting in front of the luminous windows, enjoying the majestic views. Should this magnificent view not be enough, there's also a welcoming private terrace that's kitted out for alfresco feasts, while the adjacent sunroom is perfect for an afternoon siesta. Enjoy a glass of cava on the sun lounger before heading out to explore the neighbourhood. Explore Eixample and stroll along nearby streets, including the pedestrianised Enric Granados, vibrant Casanova and upmarket Aribau – all of which are lined with charming cafes, outstanding restaurants and vibrant bars within a fifteen-minute walk.

The streets surrounding this place are packed with late-night tapas bars, spots to sample the local wine and restaurants galore. Sightseeing across the city is a piece of cake too, with the nearest metro station a three-minute walk away.

After a busy day in the bustling city, head back to your haven of calm. It may be central, but the street is a little off the beaten track. Exposed brickwork inside gives that cool New York loft feel throughout, and the living room is filled with light from floor-to-ceiling windows. Modern artworks add a splash of vibrance to an otherwise neutral colour scheme and the raw wood table is big enough for the whole group to dine. The chef of the group will certainly appreciate the large kitchen if they’re not too busy nosy through the local eateries.

We love how well positioned this apartment is. Nestled in the low-key and central El Camp de l'Arpa del Clot neighbourhood, just a seven-minute walk to Gaudí’s La Sagrada Familia, this is an unbeatable place to call home. This laid-back apartment is a welcome oasis from the city’s vibrancy.

What we love most about this home is its minimalist charm. The calm interior feels immediately rejuvenating - pull back the curtains and let the light flood your open-plan space whilst enjoying your morning coffee. Make breakfast for the family feel extra special with pan con tomate - you can pick up some of the city’s finest bread from Fermento Casa De Panaderos, just six minutes away. The small narrow streets - called passatges in Catalan - will lead you to the city’s vibrant Parc Güell where you’ll discover Gaudí’s architectural delights. Consider the matinee at the Catalan Modernist-style concert hall, Palau de la Música Catalana, then refuel with today’s special and an authentic aperitivo at the bustling El Xampanyet. Hop on the metro home- your apartment is nine minutes from there - where your cosy, warm-lit bedroom awaits.

El Camp Retreat

Just three minutes away from Barcelona's most famous sight, the Sagrada Familia, this apartment couldn't be much more convenient. It's the ideal place to put your feet up and relax between adventures, combining style and comfort for a truly welcoming ambiance. Step through the door, and you'll find an oasis with soothing green walls, wooden floors and contrasting pops of red. The kitchen is sleek and modern – it's ideal for cooking with fresh, local ingredients – while the dining area has enough space for six to enjoy a meal together as they plan their sightseeing. Gaudí's unfinished church is the obvious first port of call, since it's just around the corner, and a half-hour stroll will bring you to La Rambla and Plaça de Catalunya. Plus, for travels further afield to the beach and beyond, there are great public transport links from here. 

Olive Pit

Nestled in Sagrada Família, this modern apartment is an ideal base for sightseeing in the city. Sure, it has a slightly quirky layout in that you have to go through a bedroom to reach the outdoor space, but it shouldn’t pose a problem for families and friends. The courtyard, though simple, is a welcome spot to enjoy the Mediterranean climate. Locally, you can discover hidden parks, streets lined with Spanish eateries, and of course, Gaudi’s Basílica de la Sagrada Família, a stone’s throw from the apartment and well worth a visit. 

Gothic Elegance

Located in the heart of El Born — Barcelona's epicentre of cool — this apartment is surrounded by exclusive boutiques, hip bars open late into the night and the Picasso Museum, which is only four minutes' walk away. Inside the home, we admired the rustic touches left in after a recent renovation, particularly the exposed brickwork and wooden beams. You can instantly tell it will be a lovely place to escape the midday sun, with the delicate curtains on either side of the French doors fluttering about in the breeze and the parquet floor running throughout feeling cool to the touch on bare feet. When you fancy soaking up some rays, however, the building has a communal roof terrace complete with seats, a dining table and a charming view over the city's rooftops.

Tawny Cinder

Eclectic and bold, this contemporary artistic penthouse invites you to experience Barcelona from your own creative universe. You can feel the Eixample neighbourhood energy from both of your private roof terraces - prime spots to revitalise after a day admiring the artworks at the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art - only a seventeen-minute walk from your home.

Overflowing with cafes and restaurants, you’ll never be too far away from local cuisine and we encourage you to sample as much and often as possible – as long as you don’t forget to finish the meal with flan. Also get some fresh churros for a thirty minute stroll to Casa Milà, designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. 

After a long day out, return home to the sangria you made the night before and take an ice-cold glass onto the balcony. Watch the sun tip away as you exchange laughs and admire the photos you captured on your adventures around the city.
