Although this is a small home, we could tell that a lot of work has gone into making the best out of the square footage. The pinnacle of this effort is a panoramic window in the living room that opens up into the balcony. The furniture here is more of a backdrop than a statement, but that works quite well to maximise the space. Barcelona's most famous sights might not be in the immediate vicinity of Poblenou, but Bogatell beach is within walking distance.

Ideally located just a two-minute walk from bustling Passeig de Gràcia in the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample neighbourhood, this chic modern apartment is all set to offer you a comfortable city stay. 

We love the calm neutral palette in the living area offset by bright walls and glossy feature lightning, as well as the clever ruse of cabinetry to conceal the sleek kitchenette. Whether you’re chilling out on the sofa with a glass of Spanish red or gathering at the dining table for a celebratory meal, you’ll have no trouble making yourself at home here. 

The two comfortable bedrooms, meanwhile, offer a blissful night’s sleep in their plush beds, as well as memorable wake-ups thanks to their Juliet balconies with wide-sweeping views over the Eixample’s rooftops

Your first sightseeing stop will definitely be the epic Sagrada Familia, but there is plenty more to do after you've ticked off Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece. And, if you fancy exploring further afield, the winding Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Beach are both just a metro journey away.

As far as homes in La Dreta de l'Eixample go, Caletre is a solid representation of the neighbourhood's architecture. Adorned with Modernist masterpieces, this part of Barcelona boasts great architecture on every corner and even the insides of an unassuming building like this one show some masterful craft. True, the street you'll be staying on is a little bit noisy, but we think that easy access to the cultural heart of town more than makes up for it. 

Caletre

Located on the cusp of the Eixample neighbourhood, this apartment puts you in an excellent position to explore the city in style. It's right on the Ronda de la Universitat, a major thoroughfare in the city, but this sanctuary is pretty peaceful – thanks to it being on the inner side of the building, you get to enjoy the central location without the noise. We liked the splashes of mauve in the living room, as well as the use of natural materials. The kitchen is kitted out with basic seasonings and cooking ingredients, and there's a juicer and Nespresso machine to make mornings a delight. And the true standout feature of this home is the bedroom, with its impressive modern twist on a classic four-poster bed and painted brick wall. Step outside, and it's just a four-minute walk to the Plaça de Catalunya, and you can arrive at the labyrinthine Gothic Quarter in less than fifteen minutes. 

Cuboides

When your home is just a three-minute walk from the dragon-like facade of Casa Batlló, you can certainly say that you’re in the heart of Gaudí’s Barcelona. Inside, colour and decor work together to create a playful and quirky vibe. The bright green shutters on the French doors certainly look traditional, but contrast tastefully with modern interiors. Similarly, we love the minimalist furniture in the kitchen and living space, juxtaposed with busy, patterned feature wallpaper. Situated on one of the main veins of the city, this apartment is more than convenient. Sightseeing is easy from this location, as well as from the home itself – the balconette stretches from the lounge to the bedroom, allowing ample space to look out to fantastic views. Down on the street, you can walk two minutes to the Passeig de Gràcia metro to get all around the city. A stop you should definitely make is the thirteen-minute train trip to the Sagrada Familia. Let yourself be overwhelmed by its beauty and detail, before wandering back through the decorative blocks of the city, stopping in for tapas and wine en route home.

The Epicurean Spirit

With a fantastic position in the middle of Eixample, this apartment puts you close to many of Barcelona's most famous sights. Even if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the city's streets, you'll be happy to return to this stylish home at the end of the day.

High ceilings and tall windows mean that the interior feels bright and airy, but there's also a Juliet balcony if you want to feel the breeze on your face at any point. There's a lot to like about the design too, with wooden furnishings and surfaces going nicely with the cool grey tiles and eclectic selection of objets d'art. We're fans of the exposed brickwork in the master bedroom, which adds a loft feel to the space, as well as the pristine subway tiling in the bathrooms.

When it comes to sightseeing, the place to start has to be Casa Milà, which lies five minutes' walk from the home. One of Gaudí's other famous creations, La Sagrada Familia, can be reached in twenty-five minutes on foot, too. The Gothic Quarter takes a similar amount of time in another direction.

Neat and practical, this nifty studio is situated in the heart of Eixample. Its terrace looks out at a 19th-century water tower, which might not be one of the city’s most iconic landmarks but serves as a nice backdrop to a cosy cocktail evening. If you fancy a change of scenery, though, you’re within easy reach of Gaudí’s Casa Batlló, as well as Plaça de Catalunya where you’ll find plenty of shops and cafés to while away the day. And while the kitchen’s slightly limited, this home is surrounded by tonnes of bustling bars and restaurants, so you won’t have to venture far for a bite of something delicious to eat.

The City Flower

Located in the iconic Eixample barrio, this elegant apartment is a salve to Barcelona’s busy streets. Inside, soft white walls and muted tones are classic and calming, while the vaulted ceiling, French windows, and a strong preference for wood over plastic give this home a rustic feel in spite of its modern design features. Sink into those gloriously soft sofas with a café con leche, listening to the birdsong in the treetops just the other side of the balcony doors. Once you’re feeling rested and rejuvenated, it’s a ten-minute stroll to the leafy boulevards of Passeig de Gracia, with its luxury stores and Modernist architecture. Apart from a full kitchen and delightful dining room inside, there’s a private terrace for evening cocktails outside. In the living room, you’ve got a dedicated laptop desk for those that need to work remotely. Despite the central location, it’s pretty quiet as the rooms look out over the terrace rather than the busy street.

Sophisticated and spacious, this period apartment is every inch the perfect Barcelona home-from-home. With tall windows and doors opening to traditional narrow balconies, high ceilings, tiled floors and shutters, it's packed with character. The huge living space has comfy sofas and chairs to one end and a big dining table at the other. In the evenings, the Port Vell's nearby promenade is filled with great restaurants and cafes, but if you walk the other way towards Poblenou, you won't be hungry either. This is a simple, luminous home, whose design is focused more on functionality than aesthetics. Still, the beautiful view and comfort make it a good option for a small family or a group of friends.

What a fabulous location this stylish apartment has in Barcelona – Gaudí's masterpiece Casa Batlló is a mere three-minute stroll away. Housed in a Belle Epoque, 19th-century building this apartment's interior is just as striking as the outside. A steady theme of chocolatey tones paired with minimalistic furnishings made us feel like we were in the home of a deep thinker. Still, there are small details that breathe some warmth into the flat – the Catalan hydraulic tiles on the floor, the modern art on the walls, and the red velvet seats on the balcony. The balcony has a perfect people-watching view over the leafy boulevard below. The kitchen as black as backstage at a theatre and dramatically downlit, but it's not all style over substance as the cupboards are packed with everything you could want for self-catering. Should you need to catch up on work, the second bedroom doubles as an office. When it comes to clocking off you couldn't be better placed with Passeig de Gracia one block away, where Gaudí's masterpiece 'La Pedrera' and famous hotels like Omm and Hotel Casa Fuster reside. The apartment itself is in the 'Cuadrat d'Or' (Golden Square), an area packed with bars, restaurants and high-end shops galore.
