This home is a rare find – it has a peaceful and private setting, and yet it's just a few minutes walk from the historic city of La Orotava. Surrounded by a plantation of avocados, relax on the multiple terraces (five no less), cool off from the Tenerife sun in the infinity waterfall pool with its Atlantic Ocean vistas or unwind in the hot tub. 

We love the professionally designed gardens – our favourite spot is the yoga/meditation corner –  very zen. There's a fantastic outdoor kitchen, too – cook up a feast while you enjoy the fabulous views of Mount Teide, the forests and hills. As sunset arrives, pick some mint for your mojitos from the herb garden or feel free to pick a lemon for your G&T. As the light continues to fade, gather around the designer fire pit. 

Or, on cooler evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove indoors. Here, you'll find gorgeous beamed, vaulted ceilings, as well as original pictures and sculptures.

There's plenty to do out and about too. Hire a bike and explore the terrain (many professional cycling teams train here). If you prefer something a bit less energetic, there are three golf courses within easy reach, including one designed by Seve Ballestros. The nearest beach is 3 kilometres away, along with the popular resort beaches and Lido in Puerto de la Cruz, while La Orotava has an array of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Right on the beachfront at La Canteras, this home has a fabulous spot. Take in the fantastic Atlantic and La Canteras Beach views from this home’s sunny and dazzling whitewashed terrace. You can even spot Mount Teide in Tenerife in the distance. We love this outdoor space, it's ideal for an alfresco breakfast (whizz up a drink in the juicer to accompany some churros). Later, do some sunbathing on the sun loungers. Inside, there are more of those fabulous vistas through the large sliding doors.

In the afternoon, perhaps head to La Canteras  Beach, under a minute stroll away. It’s one of the best urban beaches in the world, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sample in the vicinity too. Or, for a bit of culture, Las Palmas Cathedral is a ten-minute ride away. It’s a couple of minutes more to Casa-Museo de Colón, which documents Columbus’ voyages.

The pad may be compact in size but there’s enough space here for two guests to be comfortable, and with good internet speed, you can also catch up on work during your stay – although you'll have to set-up shop around the dining table since there isn't a desk.

Just a stone's throw from some of Lanzarote's most stunning beaches, this stylish villa offers a little slice of paradise in Playa Blanca. If you like to start your day with a workout, you needn't disrupt your routine here as there's a fully-equipped home gym for you to use whenever you like.

Once you're feeling energised and ready to take on the day, you've got Lanzarote's beautiful coastline to explore. If you want to stay close to home, the nearest beach is less than two kilometres away, but we highly recommend renting a car and heading to Papagayo. The white sandy coves and crystal clear waters make it with well worth the trip. 

When you get home from a day of exploring, winding down for the evening is easy when you're surrounded by a gorgeous garden. The outdoor kitchen is the perfect place to try cooking some local dishes on the barbecue or a delicious pizza in the pizza oven, followed by a few glasses of wine or even a cocktail prepared at the bar. End the night with a long bubble bath, or if you're looking for a little privacy, one of the bedrooms has its own terrace which is ideal for enjoying some peace and quiet.

You can also reach many of the beaches that run along the southern coastline of the island in under ten minutes' drive, while the Dunes of Maspalomas don't take much longer, either.

As far as locations go, you can't ask for better. Las Palmas' sweeping Playa las Canteras is mere steps from your flat, so take advantage and while away your days snorkelling, surfing and swimming in the water. Shops, markets and eateries are also close at hand – as are options for hiking (Isleta Nature Reserve is a six-minute drive) and sightseeing (Plaza Santa Ana is thirteen minutes by car).

This cute studio apartment, just a ten-minute walk away from Las Canteras Beach, offers the perfect base for lapping up the sandy shores, bars, restaurants and shops of Las Palmas. 

Located on the second floor, the space reveals stylish designs and modern home comforts throughout. We particularly love the floral wallpapers decorating the space, while further pops of blue and green reflect the natural environment and make relaxing here oh so easy. 

With little need to rent a car here, you'll be within easy walking distance from La Luz park, supermarkets and a wealth of wining and dining opportunities. Head to Las Canteras for an afternoon of sunbathing, swimming or paddleboarding, before catching the sunset with a cocktail at your beach bar of choice. 

Floral Breeze

This stylish studio apartment's central location more than makes up for the lack of space. You're just a thirteen-minute walk from Las Canteras, Las Palmas' famous urban beach dotted with colourful wooden boats and lively waterfront eateries. It's an excellent spot for snorkelling, sunbathing and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean – we bet you'll spend every afternoon stretched out on the sand, watching the waves. If you fancy a bit of sightseeing, take a three-minute stroll over to Castillo de la Luz – a 16th-century fortress that now exhibits artwork – followed by a meal at one of the fantastic restaurants on your doorstep.

When you've had your fill of exploring, we think this light-filled flat is the perfect space to relax. Don't let the size fool you – it has everything you'll need and plenty of stylish features to boot. There's a modern kitchen with plenty of room to rustle up Spanish omelettes for breakfast and tapas for dinner, a lavish walk-in shower with a rainfall feature and a cosy turquoise sofa where you can kick off your shoes and unwind with a glass of Spanish vino. We also like the layout –wood panelling around the bed cleverly separates the living space from the bedroom, so although it's all-in-one, there are defined spaces to eat, chill out and sleep.

This is one of those apartments that just makes you alive. Vivid colours brighten the open-plan living space, which perfectly marries a cosy sofa area with beach bar vibes at the kitchen stools. It's a decor that makes you appreciate that you're really on holiday. 

The bright blue stools of the kitchen are the ideal spot to eat breakfast in the morning or share a bottle of wine in the evening. For snug nights in, curl up on the sofa with a book or relax with a film in the background. 

Whilst the living space is a chill haven to spend your days, you didn't come to Las Palmas to stay inside. If you're visiting during the warmer months, you're just an eight-minute walk to the gorgeous Las Canteras Beach. On your way there, you'll pass Parque de Santa Catalina – the home of live performances, cultural activities and festivals.

If that's not your vibe, visit the cute restaurants and bars along the harbour, watching the ships pass through. For the golfing fanatics, the lush greens of Las Palmeras Golf are just a five-minute drive away.

This sparkling villa is tailor-made for large families or groups of friends looking for private luxury in rural Gran Canaria. Blessed with tranquility and boasting a fun-filled games room, it has the vibe of a five-star hotel that's reserved just for you. 

A huge open-plan living space – decorated in white walls and with tinges of colour on the furniture – is perfect for spending time as one group. However, when the sun sets on the terracotta tiles, you probably want to spend time outdoors. 

The huge terrace is adorned by intimate seating areas, comfy sun beds and, of course, the glistening pool. Every member of the group can fit in the pool, making it an idyllic spot for games of volleyball or water polo. Continuing the competitive side, get the rallies going during table tennis or practice your shooing at table football.

Set just a few steps from the capital’s stunning Las Canteras Beach, the location of this modern studio apartment is bang on. When thoughts turn to food, there are heaps of tapas bars and restaurants in the buzzy streets below. Or rustle something up back at the apartment – despite its studio set-up, the kitchen is well-equipped for cosy evening meals. The lack of outdoor space might not appeal to some, but we can let that slide with the beach and seafront bars so close to serenade the evening sun.

Situated in the residential area of Faro Park, this home is 4 kilometres from the centre of Playa Blanca and just 400 metres from the seafront promenade. If you prefer to cool off in a swimming pool – there’s a private heated one here in the pretty garden with its palm trees and Canarian-style seating area. There are sea glimpses and mountain views from the balcony too. Inside, the villa is a bit dated in places, especially the kitchen, but that said, there’s plenty of space for family or friends to enjoy.
