Now that may not seem like a big deal, but in a city that is filled with winding, narrow streets and charges high prices for parking, you’ll be grateful to have a hassle-free place to keep your car. It is worth noting, however, that due to this home’s first-floor position, it can be a little bit noisy during the day when children play at the park across the street. Still, with so much going on in this vibrant city, we doubt you’ll be spending much time at home anyway.

We can find very little to fault with this apartment just around the corner from Amara railway station. A recent renovation means that the interior design feels vibrant and modern, with pops of colour coming from the house plants, eclectic artwork and the kitchen's bold red surfaces.

The home's high ceilings and shiny wooden floors work well with the ample amount of natural light that comes in through the French doors, while there's even a small balcony in case you want to feel the sunlight on your skin at any point.

We should mention that the central location is nothing short of superb. La Concha beach is all of five minutes' walk away, while the famous Old Town and Mount Urgull are about double that time. The charming Plaza Easo is less than sixty seconds on foot from the front door, too.


Oh So Leisurely

Moments from the sands of La Concha, this Donostia-San Sebastián apartment is in the perfect spot for those seeking location above all. The style is minimal here, which is great for when you’re spending most of your time on the beach, exploring the Old Town and sampling regional bite-sized pintxos in the local bars. We think there's something very relaxing, gazing at a river – at this apartment, you can do just that from the comfort of your own home. We love the River Urumea views from the large bay windows in the elegant living space with its parquet wood flooring and comfy chaise sofa. After a cafe con leche and some pastries for breakfast, get ready in the marble-clad pink bathroom and go and explore this fabulous location.

Spend the day on the nearby golden sands – it's just a five-minute walk to Zurriola and La Concha beaches. Watch the surfers or have a refreshing dip in the Cantabrian Sea, then explore San Sebastián's old town. Of course, as you'd expect, there are plenty of bars and eateries nearby to enjoy too.

The interior offers plenty of space to unwind amongst the eclectic and industrial designs, but the sea views are the main draw here – and since the living room and both bedrooms are seafront-facing, every guest can enjoy the rolling waves. You'll find everything you need to cook in the kitchen, although San Sebastián’s local pintxos bars and authentic restaurants are just a short stroll away.

We suspect we aren't the only ones with a weakness for a sea view and this San Sebastian apartment more than delivers on that front. Not only can you gaze out at the invitingly blue waters of La Concha Bay through the living room's huge window, but you're also treated to a coastal vista from the small balcony.

Back inside, there's much to like about the light-filled living quarters. The interior design is simple but tasteful – we're talking wooden floors, pastel hues on the wall and a couple of pieces of artwork. You might find the fact that there are two small kitchens rather than one large one an odd choice on the architect's behalf, but look at it as generosity instead, particularly as there are a pair of living rooms as well.

When it comes to seeing a little more of this Basque town, La Concha Beach is all of fifty metres from the front door and there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity. At the same time, the charming Old Town is easily reachable on foot, too.

Saint of the Sea

This functional apartment in the heart of Donostia-San Sebastián is just the ticket for a couple looking for a base to explore the area. While the home's interior won't set the design world on fire, it has everything you need for a short or long stay. Just a stone's throw away from La Concha beach, its prime location allows guests to explore the city centre, the Old Town, and the stunning bay area. The great location does come with bustling nightlife on your doorstep though, so we'd suggest bringing earplugs here. A whole host of eateries are nearby as well – perfect for foodies.

We like that there's plenty of natural light, but you might find the interior's design a little uninspired. What sold us on it was the home's great location – right next to Concha beach, you'll also find yourself within walking distance of the Old Town, along with restaurants, bars, and more.

Basque in the City

Minimal and filled with natural light, this apartment invites you to experience San Sebastián from a laidback location. You can still soak up the Basque energy from your private balcony – a prime spot to share a glass of Txakoli wine after a day exploring the Old Town – whilst enjoying quieter moments. The interior is pared-back, with a modern kitchen for when you aren’t out sampling a chalkboard of Basque pintxos. We love how well positioned it is too – it may not be in the bustling centre, but it’s still within easy reach of Donostia–San Sebastián’s La Concha Beach and waterfront bars.

In fact, it's barely 500m to the nearest Michelin-starred establishment, with plenty of local bars serving sumptuous pintxos closer by.

What we love about this home – besides its outstanding location – is that its contemporary interiors are juxtaposed by the views of the surrounding Art Nouveau buildings. That means you can live with creature comforts while taking in the city’s rich history as a luxurious resort town. Welcoming six guests, there’s plenty of comfortable seating for everyone, especially on the sumptuous sofa and chaise longue in the living room. Step out onto the balcony to sip your morning coffee and take in the city’s awakening before heading out for a day of fun. You’ll be staying in Gras, a popular neighbourhood amongst young locals, artists and musicians. This is where you’ll find the city’s surfing beach and many of its cultural institutions. For reference, you’re about a ten-minute walk from Zurriola Beach and Kursaal, a cutting-edge theatre and auditorium. For pintxos, we recommend heading over the river to the bars and restaurants of the Old Town.
