This home is a rare find – it has a peaceful and private setting, and yet it's just a few minutes walk from the historic city of La Orotava. Surrounded by a plantation of avocados, relax on the multiple terraces (five no less), cool off from the Tenerife sun in the infinity waterfall pool with its Atlantic Ocean vistas or unwind in the hot tub. 

We love the professionally designed gardens – our favourite spot is the yoga/meditation corner –  very zen. There's a fantastic outdoor kitchen, too – cook up a feast while you enjoy the fabulous views of Mount Teide, the forests and hills. As sunset arrives, pick some mint for your mojitos from the herb garden or feel free to pick a lemon for your G&T. As the light continues to fade, gather around the designer fire pit. 

Or, on cooler evenings, cosy up in front of the wood-burning stove indoors. Here, you'll find gorgeous beamed, vaulted ceilings, as well as original pictures and sculptures.

There's plenty to do out and about too. Hire a bike and explore the terrain (many professional cycling teams train here). If you prefer something a bit less energetic, there are three golf courses within easy reach, including one designed by Seve Ballestros. The nearest beach is 3 kilometres away, along with the popular resort beaches and Lido in Puerto de la Cruz, while La Orotava has an array of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance.

In the afternoon, perhaps head to La Canteras  Beach, under a minute stroll away. It’s one of the best urban beaches in the world, and there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to sample in the vicinity too. Or, for a bit of culture, Las Palmas Cathedral is a ten-minute ride away. It’s a couple of minutes more to Casa-Museo de Colón, which documents Columbus’ voyages.

The building located in Gran Canaria, one of the most beautiful islands of the Canary archipelago, opened in July 2023 and belongs to the municipality of Telde, between the beaches of Melenara (140 metres away) and Salinetas (250 metres away). Sustainability has been taken into account and it is equipped with intelligent locks so that you can forget about the possible problems that keys can cause.

Melenara Beach is 350 metres long and 30 metres wide, with black volcanic sand and a wide range of restaurants that allow you to enjoy the rich and varied local gastronomy. Melenara is a quiet and very familiar beach, with parking and spa, with bathing service, adapted for disabled people, lifeguard service throughout the year, children's playground and blue flag.

The Apolo flat is located on the second floor, with two bedrooms, open-plan kitchen, living-dining room and bathroom. It is accessible, exterior, soundproofed, modern and bright, with capacity for three people and has all the comforts you could wish for. 

The spacious rooms are stylishly decorated with careful attention to detail and modern touches, with 1.5 metre beds, ideal for resting after a day of exploring.

The only downside for some would be the lack of outdoor space, but we can forgive that when the sandy shores are so close.

With the Sea on My Heart

If you want to be in the heart of Playa del Inglés, then this home could be for you. The Yumbo Centre, with its LGBT bars, clubs, restaurants, and supermarkets, is just 250 metres away. The beach, on the other hand, is 950 metres away. Or you could take a dip in this home's private above-ground plunge pool (there's a fee if you want it heated). There's a larger communal pool in the development, too, if you want to swim some lengths. This home is ideal for friends or a family looking for a central location.

Perfect for business travellers or couples looking for a fuss-free central base, you can take your pick from the various dining options and seafront bars dotted about the neighbourhood. Back home, while this newbuild apartment may be a studio, it offers all the creature comforts, including a well-equipped kitchen with a coffee pod machine for those obligatory morning brews. If we were being picky, it’s a shame not to have any outdoor space to call your own. But with the sandy beach just a flip-flop away, we’ll forgive that.
